General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Diane warns Todd to keep quiet, but he ignores her and starts ranting about being insane. Diane asks for Todd to be allowed to testify.  She claims Todd is suffering from PTSD.  Todd continues rambling and admits he always tries to do the right thing, but messes up in the end.

Diane affirms Todd had no malicious intent, and Heather coerced him into participating in the switch. She declares Todd needs psychiatric help.  In turn, Carly stands up and objects.

Lulu calls Maxie, who reassures her all is well in Port Charles. Maxie advises her friend to focus on Luke.  Dante promises Lulu they will find out what happened to Luke.  Lulu spots blood on the wall, and thinks it might be Luke's.  Dante asks to see the warden.

Maxie confesses to Britt that she wasn't able to tell Lulu and Dante the truth about the miscarriage. She asks about the extra embryos, and if another implantation could be possible. Britt's not willing to lie to Dante and Lulu, but takes some blood for a hormone test anyway.

Patrick performs another test on Ellie's feet, but she still doesn't feel anything. She worries if she'll ever regain feeling in her lower extremities. Patrick advises her to be patient a little longer.  Ellie's glad to be alive, and have Spin by her side. She swears she won't feel sorry for herself.   Spin tells her to let her body heal.

Lucy goes on and on about vampires to Heather. When she finishes, Heather assures Lucy she believes her story. Lucy's thrilled, until Heather introduces herself. Lucy remembers Heather taking advantage of a grieving Edward.  Heather points out everyone in Ferncliff is equal, and Lucy will need a friend.

Maxie and Spinelli run into each other at the hospital.  She asks why he hasn't called her since their night together.  Spin informs her that he turned to her, because he thought Ellie had rejected him. However, that wasn't the case. Maxie asks if he's choosing Ellie over her again. Spin tells Maxie he'll always love her, but he's choosing to be with Ellie.

Carly says if Todd is crazy, it means what they had wasn't real.  She tells him to take responsibility for his actions.  Todd swears he fell in love with her, so Carly orders him to say he isn't crazy. Todd refuses to say it, and pleads insanity to the court. Carly realizes he's not the man she thought he was.

The judge sentences Todd to Ferncliff.  Diane hopes Todd received exactly what he wanted.  He assures Diane he'll be able to fool the doctors.

Tracy informs AJ of an insanity clause Edward put in the ELQ bylaws. The clause gives Tracy the power to fire Lucy, and remain in control.  Michael asks why she doesn't allow AJ to be co-CEO. Tracy admits she wants to run the company by herself.

AJ decides he needs to see Lucy before she's declared insane, and get her to sign over her share to him. He begs Michael to lie to Tracy if she asks where he went. Sure enough, Tracy asks Michael about AJ's whereabouts. He claims AJ went to an AA meeting, but Tracy calls him out on his lie. She soon realizes AJ went to see Lucy.

AJ visits Lucy and promises to help her slay the vampires, if she signs over her share to him. Lucy doesn't sign, and is taken away before AJ can continue to convince her. AJ thinks Lucy was his last hope, until Heather walks in and says she wasn't.

The warden tells Lulu and Dante that Luke was shot.  Lulu asks if her father is dead.

Britt tells Maxie she can't implant another embryo, because Maxie is already pregnant.

The entire courtroom stuff was a giant mess.

Maxie being pregnant, likely with Spin's baby is a mess.

Loved the Heather/Lucy scenes and Heather's look when Lucy was talking about vampires.

Hey Perkie, happy weekend.

I agree with your A-mess-ment of the episode. Few things....

1) Laura Wright's hair looks like it needs a hot oil treatment.

2) I LOVE Ellie, but glad to see she has her priorities straight and when paralyzed gives herself a pedicure. 6 days and her polish looks that good? What's the brand?

3)Todd ends up in court and there is reference made to murdering his mother and his brother after being locked up for 8 years, BUT why wouldn't the judge bring up his list of crimes before suffering PTSD? Gang rape? Kidnapping Nora? The list goes on and on. If you are going to play history then play it. It can't be use of history when it's convenient.

4) LOVED Lucy & Heather together but I don't understand Fern Cliff. How does Heather come and go as she pleases? AJ can easily sneak in? Heather opens an unlocked door that Mac & Felicia exited from yesterday. The FC attendant walks in and allows Heather & Lucy to continue their converation as if they are a guest at The Four Seasons? Now it looks like Todd will be a patient there. We all know that Todd, Lucy & Heather will be coming and going as they please. This regime is all about nods to the past so I was surprised that neither Lucy or Heather referenced their more obvious link...Scotty Baldwin. This is a stronger tie than the Qurartermaine connection.

5) The show is called GENERAL HOSPITAL and this tends to be the least used set, yet Fern CLiff and the Swiss hospital get so much focus.

oh....and Dante & Lulu. Why in the world would a Turkish prison care about Dante & Lulu? Dante would have no authority there at all.

Loved all things Lucy/Heather/AJ/Michael/Tracy. I just can never get enough of Heather Webber, lol! Can't wait to see what the secret is concerning the Q's.

I'm glad Michael is such a bad liar - no need for him to act like his parents.

Laura Wright's hair is amazeballs! Love the new do, although I am waiting to also see it a bit curled more.

Carly had no business making personal statements in the courtroom.

Nice to see Alan Rachins still acting.

Maxie looked great with the big curls!

I wonder where they are going with the Luke story. So he is now missing?

All I can say about yesterday's episode where both Lucy and Todd were arraigned were just STUPID! I am sorry but if we want to continue to see our soaps on the air we all have to start talking up! It was ridiculous!!

I will never understand how and why the writers allow HEATHER free reign where ever she goes whether its in Port Charles, the Q Mansion, crime scenes covered with cops, or Fernclif! It just makes no sense that this LOON who has been doing all of this illegal and deadly things would be allowed freedom EVEN in a nuthouse.

Now we have a story about vampires from a canceled LOW RATED soap that was set in the EXACT SAME TOWN AT THE EXACT SAME time as GENERAL HOSPITAL's Port Charles and no one in GENERAL HOSPITAL'S Port Charles knew anything about it OTHER than the people of PORT CHARLES's Port Charles! I'm sorry it's not believeable, people stopped watching PC when it went over the top and NOW all it is doing is making Lucy look crazy and doing nothing for the credibilty of GH.

And then we have Todd. He gets away with everything and what I don't get is why?! Sure he is a great character but when a great character is written to do bad things... really bad things... like murder, rape, kidnapping, and the like the WRITERS have to step up to the plate and write believable story to get them off! Time in and time out this writing team has found the lamest and thinnest reasons to get characters OFF on both OLTL and GH.

Todd should pay the price for his actions because he lied to Sam and Tea over their kids and also TOOK the kidnaped child across state lines! That, my friends, is a FEDERAL CRIME. Also, Todd lied to his daughter and I think this is the perfect opportunity for Starr to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH and to say good bye to her father for good. I think it should be shown if Todd goes on trial that Starr doesn't show up EVEN if to watch him go down. Todd should get prison time and it should be shown. Let him get out like Michael did by some foolish act against him or Todd could discover a drug ring and in exchange for early release he gives evidence.

BUT Todd, Heather and even Sonny and AJ need to start to pay for their deeds OTHERWISE fans just get bored with the lame ass way the writers write them off!

(It's not as if the fans didn't take notice to the fact that all AJ said was that he saw FASION years ago in his hospital in Europe that he himself fled to escape prison and AJ had all of his charges DROPPED! Even though they didn't find FAISON because of AJs tip but because of Olivia's vision of the man Anna was with was him and not Duke!)

I won't say more than the MAXIE story is just a bad bad and weak story. It was sweeter when Maxie was doing this to make up for all of her selfish deeds but now she will discover she is pregnant moments after miscarrying and will pull off the rouse that its Dante and Lulu's kid til her conscience steps in?!! Foolish!!!

I've been watching soaps for 25 years and Todd's arraignment was the sloppiest courtroom scene I can remember, and I include Michael's shitshow of a trial for Claudia's murder in that statement. Alan Rachins was on a high-rated primetime show that attempted to show the legal process in a relatively serious fashion. What must he have thought of the lines he was given to say? It didn't even rise to the level of farce, because farces are amusing. All of that being said, I actually thought Todd's monologue to Carly about why he thinks himself insane was moving. It's a tribute to Howarth's ability that he was able to play that so well and actually get something real across in the middle of all that mess.

Similarly, the Maxie pregnancy story may be the worst twist on WTD I've ever watched. Leaving aside the biological IMPOSSIBILITY of this pregnancy, we're supposed to believe that Maxie would have sex the day she miscarried her best friend's baby? REALLY? And now she is going to lie to Dante/Lulu, Spinelli, Ellie, her parents, Dante/Lulu's parents about this baby's paternity? I just... I have never been a Maxie fan but this is beyond the pale.

Those of us who really enjoyed Port Charles at the time were very much aware of this at the time, so this isn't exactly a new observation.

More to the point — as others have pointed out — this seems to be Carlivati's opportunity to address that issue. Even more to the point, there is only ONE person, so far, who "remembers" the telenovela era of Port Charles: Lucy. Like it or not, it's still a part of the history of the universe of Port Charles, General Hospital and the entire ABC soap universe.

I'm sorry it's not believable, people stopped watching PC when it went over the top and NOW all it is doing is making Lucy look crazy and doing nothing for the credibility of GH.

The credibility of GH? You mean the show that was resurrected from near cancellation (i.e., LOW RATINGS) because of and remained at or near the top of the soap heap due to or in spite of :

• A hit man for the mob raped a teenager and turned into "the greatest soap love story ever" (still on the show)

• A megalomaniac Greek supervillain who tried to freeze the world with a diamond powered weather machine

• A space alien that looked like a recently retired Abercrombie & Fitch model arrived on earth in a laser show (how come nobody that is currently or recently on the canvas (Anna, Robert, Mac, Robin (the alien's best friend), Faison (in the story that introduced him) remembers that...which happened on the mothership show?)

• An Aztec princess from Texas who has been both paralysed and suffered amnesia twice (still on the show)

• Greek megalomaniac's widow (still on the show) froze and unfroze her supposedly dead son (who somehow came back younger) 20, 30 stories below the hospital in a basement that was somehow built and not noticed, but apparently still exists but is never referenced

• Aforementioned Greek megalomaniac's widow in her 60's/70's survives massive fall off a cliff

• The following people currently (including recurring and returning) on the canvas have have returned form the dead, sometimes multiple times: Luke, Laura, Scotty, Mac, Faison, Robert, Anna, Jerry, Robin, A.J., Michael, Duke, Todd and Helena. And I've probably left several characters out.

• A show where horrific bus crashes, biological weapons, viral epidemics (several), head on train collisions, Towering Inferno hotel fires, hostage crises, toxic harbor spills, and multiple close range gun fights rarely result in more than a couple of deaths, usually extras, unpopular characters or actors' whose contracts were not renewed.

• Let's not forget that Emily Quartermaine was cured of terminal cancer because she dreamed about kissing Nikolas.

And also let's not forget that within this ABC soap universe, we've had characters visit actual Heaven multiple times; time travel to the Old West in 1888 and back to 1968; the discovery of an entire underground city; ghosts and/or angels who not only guide people to the afterlife, but also in at least one case did a complete character body switch between two actors; a gorilla re-enact King Kong, and multiple doppelgangers excluding evil twins and plastic surgery fakes. How many people did David Hayward bring back from the dead toward the end of AMC's run?

That "credibility of GH" argument in this instance is for the birds. I'm not saying that one, two or all of these plots weren't silly or unrealistic, but if one can't suspend disbelief watching ANY soap opera, one shouldn't be watching them at all. GH, at the height of its ratings glory and cultural impact, featured many of these stories in succession. So, let's give this argument a bit of a rest.

I'm picking up this issue again of Port Charles position as a "LOW RATED" soap as a criticism of this storyline. It might sound good to say, but it does little to advance the argument, especially if we do a little comparison of ratings of GH compared to PC then versus now:

In 1996 season when PC premiered, it's season rating was 2.6. That same year, GH averaged 4.8.
At the end of the 2011 season, GH's rating was 2.0.

It is absolutely true that ratings did drop for the already in trouble PC when they switched to the supernatural/telenovela format in 2000, going from a 2.4 to a 1.6 at the end of its run in 2004.

It is also absolutely true that in 2000 at a time when GH had already ditched its own more fantastical stories and was more "realistically" centered and was not connected to Port Charles, GH had dropped to a 4.0 and by the time Port Charles ended, GH was down to 3.2 — even though by that time it had almost no direct connection to PC.

After Port Charles' demise, GH — still with no direct connection to PC — bounced around DOWNWARD from 3.0 in at the end of 2005 to 2.0 at the end of 2011. Since Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati came on board, GH is now hovering around (upwardly) the 2.6-2.8 level or roughly in the ballpark of 3 million viewers.

Now, if we take this "LOW RATED" criticism on face value without addressing any other factors (and there are dozens of other factors to actually consider) as has been done as a way to tear down this GH/PC story, then something odd stands out: GH is now the kind of LOW RATED soap that is disparaged in the criticism, is it not?

For a good part of the 10 years that PC has been off the air, General Hospital has been as LOW RATED as Port Charles, without having had vampires (and angels and werewolves and witches) to fall back on as an excuse, is that not correct? If PC is to be so roundly discredited for being LOW RATED, then should not GH be the same?

What about AMC & OLTL? AMC went off the air with a 1.9 rating and OLTL with a 2.1, the latter of which was higher than GH's 2.0 at the time. Shouldn't that "LOW RATED" argument apply to AMC and OLTL as a reason for them to stay dead and not be resurrected?

[As a side note, it's kind of telling that in its last years OLTL — a show that featured some supernatural & science fiction elements — had higher ratings than either GH or AMC, neither of which featured either of those elements.]

So, this whole specific "LOW RATED" rant is a little off base. Shows are cancelled because of low ratings, but by making that as a crutch argument against incorporating elements of one of Port Charles' supernatural/telenovela stories on GH, one is also basically arguing against the very existence of GH, as well as against the resurrections of AMC and OLTL.

Is J Bernard an alias for Ron or Frank?

You can't compare ratings for PC from over 10 years ago to GH today. The ratings that caused shows to be canceled years ago would be considered great by today's standards. SEARCH FOR TOMORROW, EDGE OF NIGHT, SANTA BARBRA, etc. all had higher ratings than today's "top" shows.

I don't mind a visit to heaven, a descendant or Aztecs or a hidden underground city because the latter 2 can happen and depending on your faith there is some credibility for heaven. Vampires on the other hand strain credibility. Frank V. said that they weren't going to make much of the vampire story which is not true. It has already derailed Lucy's return and made her look stupid and will not be be wrapped up soon. Erin Hershey will soon be coming on the GH canvas as Allison Barrington to support Lucy's story. This isn't simply a nod to the past. It is being played as main story affecting the the GH canvas.

The vampires should have been treated like Bobby Martin. Not all bad stories haved to be revisited. I don't think anyone was looking to for an explanation of stories on PC. If that were the case then why didn't Lucy mention it on her visit to GH for Mother Quartermaine's death or Scotty when he returned to GH numerous times in the early 2000s??

@nysam: Ron C. went to the school of James E. Rielly soap writing, where all the rules are thrown out the window in favor of a plotpoint. That is not a praise of his writing as James E. Rielly would be #1 on my list of worst writers in the history of Daytime if you judge him from a writing standpoint. Same thing goes with James E. Rielly Jr. aka Ron C. So with this I would have to naturally agree with the concept of continuity. No reason to address something when it was never even brought up in the past when other characters from PC crossed back over to GH. He should have just left well-enough alone. But then again that is just me.

@david46208: I agree with you. Carlivati does seem to favor plot over character driven stories and that doesn't make for a good soap. I prefer writers like Labine, Marland, Nixon, Malone.

When I sit down for an enjoyable hour of escapist fun watching General Hospital, it never even occurs to me that there are so many of you out there grinding your teeth, waiting to pick apart every little thing. And now that I've read how downright angry some of you are getting...I...still won't be thinking of you during that hour. Life's too short, and the life of our soaps may be even shorter.

Lucy isn't ruined or derailed or whatever. Lynn Herring was a riot this week, as was everyone around her! I haven't had so much fun watching a soap in YEARS! And the courtroom scenes were over the top? Really? On a soap? Shocking!

There are people in Romania who are convinced vampires exist (or existed, at least), so I don't know why that strains credibility more than any of the other crazy things they've done. And I've said before, I'll say it again: people routinely come back from the dead on soaps, but suddenly the thought of Maxie getting re-preggered on the same day she miscarried is too far??? It's no stranger than Erica Kane's walking abortion. Or clones. Or demon possessions. Or Spinelli having two women fighting over him. Wink

Come on! GH is great fun these days. I don't think it deserves the level of anger on this thread.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, yes, there are things that make me roll my eyes occasionally. You know what, though? When a show is this much fun to watch, I would rather focus on the fun than hone in on the things I may not like as much. I may be bored to tears whenever (insert name here) walks into a scene, but most scenes only last a minute or so, and then we'll be on to something fun again! It's not the end of the world that I don't like every little thing.

However, I'm not expecting to change any minds, so I'll just that hope you enjoy your picking apart of General Hospital as much as I'm enjoying it for what it is. (At least GH isn't as boring as reading this constant nitpicking is.)

@TVGord: I don't think GENERAL HOSPITAL is syndicated in Romanina. If so, I'm sure they can't wait to watch GH between viewings of TWILIGHT, TRUE BLOOD and VAMPIRE DIARIES.

I have watched GH since 1979 when I was in 3rd grade. I know when it is good and I know when it is bad. It certainly isn't at it's worst now. I just excpect more of my favorite soap. That's why I'm hard on it. I work in TV (making reality shows). I know what our budgets are. They are a lot less than soaps. With the money these people are being paid I would like better stories. When a head writer is making 1.5 million a year and the breakdown and scripts writers are making $200k on the low end I don't think I'm asking too much for better writing.

Gord~ I co-sign post #15. Sometimes the nitpicking gets ridiculous. I try to just let the stuff slide that would normally make me tear my hair out because the show is SO much better than this time last year, I don't want to waste my time with figuring out the math(ELQ shares) or quibbling over the impossible(Maxie's miscarriage & re-fertilization within 8 hours of each other). Sick

All I know is General Hospital was exactly what I needed this week. I have been home taking care of two sick children with the flu.. Haven't left my house- no work outs- cleaning up vomit.. GH delivered the humor that I needed this week. While I don't always need it to be funny- this week it saved my sanity. I love my sad, romantic, adventure episodes also.. But GH is a daily show and I look forward to whatever delivery I am going to get. Sometimes the plotpoints are silly- but I deal with it because I am watching a soap opera that airs daily for an hour.. It's not my Private Practice or Criminal Minds.. So all I can say is even with the storylines that I hate- (Kristina and Spixie) I am still loving it!!

Two points that might be of interest here:

1) Did I not say the following?: "Now, if we take this "LOW RATED" criticism on face value without addressing any other factors (and there are dozens of other factors to actually consider)..."

2) Was not the original "LOW RATED" criticism made without taking in any of those other factors, including the ratings of 10 years ago versus today? Was it not done in a vacuum?

Perhaps your criticism is better suited to poster who originally leveled the criticism without taking the 10 year transition in soap viewing habits (and measurement) and other factors involved into account instead of the person (me) who pointed out the absurdity of that charge-in-a-vacuum as a primary reason to not revisit the PC universe on GH.

I don't mind a visit to heaven, a descendant or Aztecs or a hidden underground city....

...all of which at the time and even in some retrospectives since were to varying degrees ridiculed as stupid, nonsensical and ridiculous examples of soap at their supposed worst...

...because the latter 2 can happen and depending on your faith there is some credibility for heaven. Vampires on the other hand strain credibility.

Outside of the obvious chuckle that would provoke from non-believers, agnostics, atheists and people who believe all of it is fairy tales, is your argument that one form of supernatural portrayal (religious or otherwise) is fine but only as long as you believe in one but not the other? LOL

It has already derailed Lucy's return and made her look stupid and will not be wrapped up soon. Erin Hershey will soon be coming on the GH canvas as Allison Barrington to support Lucy's story. This isn't simply a nod to the past.

And, your point is what (outside of "making Lucy look stupid" (which those of us who watched PC or others who know that what Lucy believes actually happened insofar as what was played on screen at the time... so how does it make Lucy look "stupid" again?))? In fact, Carlivati flat out said...

"Our universes are colliding but this is no quick gimmick," Carlivati promises. "This will kick off a nice little mystery story: Is Lucy crazy or is there something very real going on here? And, if she's crazy, why do John and Sam feel like they've met before?"...The plot gets even dizzier when Duke Lavery, played by Ian Buchanan who also played vampire king Joshua Temple on PC, pays a visit to Lucy at the jailhouse. "That really throws her for a loop — in fact, the whole thing's a total mindf--k!""

So why are some people acting as if viewers are being hoodwinked about the length or depth of this story? The events on Port Charles happened. Why those events were never addressed on the main show is being addressed now by doing several things all at once:

• utilizing both show's histories
• taking advantage of the availability of several veterans to provide even more returns and an opportunity for those vets to stick around on the canvas longer than they previously would have been able to do so
• giving fans of the now cancelled series more time with a portion of that show's history, just as Carlivati has done with OLTL, to a lesser extent AMC and even with a quick little nod to Loving
• providing a possible way (as some have theorized) to retcon Karen Wexler (Scotty's daughter) back to life

The vampires should have been treated like Bobby Martin. Not all bad stories have to be revisited.

>

I think a number of AMC fans would have appreciated it if Bobby Martin had been revisited, if only acknowledged ("Bobby was killed in a skiing accident and we just haven't been able to talk about it all these years!"). Point of fact, AMC did revisit Bobby Martin with several in-jokes, including a trip to the Martin attic where Tad saw (the unexplained presence of) a skeleton with a pair of skis. Even in jest, that's still revisiting by reminding viewers that Bobby existed.

I don't think anyone was looking to for an explanation of stories on PC.

When John McBain showed up in Port Charles and it was clear that there would be some kind of pairing with Samantha, quite a few posters (including Caleb/Livvie 'shippers) on various soap boards — including right here at DC — had a lot of questions about the GH/PC continuity issues. This grew louder with the whole "we have a past connection" stuff that propelled them into each other's orbits. So a) it is not as if there are no fans of Port Charles and/or Caleb/Livvie that don't hold affection for the show and b) judging from a good number of posts I've seen here and elsewhere a lot of people — including those who never watched PC at all — are enjoying what's happening, if not for the PC story, certainly for the interplay of the all the veterans who have been brought out to play. So, there's that.

If that were the case then why didn't Lucy mention it on her visit to GH for Mother Quartermaine's death or Scotty when he returned to GH numerous times in the early 2000s??

First, that's more or less being addressed now, isn't it?

Second, I've addressed this exact issue in at least two posts, at length. However, why not ask the logical followup question: why hasn't every character and/or actor on every ABC soap who has every crossed over to another ABC soap or had a connection to another character and/or story on another show mentioned at least once — if not several times — all of the other stories going on all the other shows since they are all connected within that same universe?

As a Port Charles fan from the first epsiode to the last, I am delighted at this little turn of events on General Hospital. I wouldn't mind a nod or two to Casey the Alien while they are at it...LOL

I smile every time Lucy is on screen! I don't care what she is saying at this point.

I am thrilled to death that when I turn on General Hospital these days I see characters like Lucy, Heather, Mac, Felicia, Anna, Duke, Robert, Tracy, Monica, AJ, etc. Nods to the past like the renaming of The Floating Rib or re-establishing the Nurses' Ball go a long way in my book. Having said that, I welcome MOST of the new blood on GH in the last year or so.

Like an above poster, I started watching GH around 1977 and 1978 -- around 3rd grade or so -- because I remember when Laura and Scotty were still dating and the whole Heather Webber/Diana Taylor/iced tea luncheon.

I don't want a show about vampires either ... but that is not what is happening. Lucy is the only character worrying about vampires ... and she is hilarious doing it!

@iowaninmin, get ready for the vampire story to spread when Allison Barringon formerly from PORT CHARLES joins GH.

I love all the characters you referenced above. I think GH viewers were so disappointed by the Phelps' regime that anything is considered an improvement, especially when our vets are featured. I'm just not willing to settle for less than I know the show is capable of. I would prefer a steak to a hambruger and we keep getting a hamburger served. GH was at it's writing and acting peek circa 555-5555 when Labine and Riche were heading the show. I would prefer this storytelling.

As for posters using Casey the Alien, the Ice Princess, the Prometheus Disc as examples as outlandish stories from the past to support the argument that it makes sense to have vampires in town the reason viewers went along for the ride with these stories is because many of these stories were backdrops for epic love stories....Anna/Duke/Casey.....Luke/Laura and intro for Robert/Tiffany....Grant/Celia and Robert/Holly. In 2013 GH we are getting corney stories, BUT no epic love stories....no couples that we care about...no character driven story...just plot driven. Name one couple on this show that fans are rooting for that they are eager to sit down and watch to see if they can battle the bad and end up together? There are no couples like yesteryear....Luke/Laura, Frisco/Felicia, Robert/Holly, Anna/Duke, Jagger/Karen, Sonny/Brenda/Jax, Robin/Stone. I would happily watch a campy show if there was some reason for the camp.

Camp for camp sake doesn't make for good TV. Camp for couple's sake I can live with.

As long as I am enjoying at least half the story lines on a soap I consider it a good show. I watched Port Charles for the majority of it's run, and even I wasn't enthused by the vampire idea, but so far it's been so humorous and weird, I'm curious to see how it all plays out.

It has been SO long since I watched a daytime show that made me laugh out loud and be riveted at the same time.

There is an awful lot of pearl clutching going on over a storyline that has just begun. No one knows where the story will end up regardless of which PC characters make an appearance on GH. He'll for all we know Lucy could be suffering a mental breakdown from prolonged exposure to the janky ingredients she used in her cosmetics line.
But either way I am enjoying the hijinks of Lucy Coe, Vampire Slayer.

TV-Gord--*muahh* Smile Me, too. GH is so good overall that you have to really work to pick it apart. I'm just so happy to see all my faves and to sit for an hour of familiar, escapist entertainment. I really don't even spend much time looking at spoilers anymore; just a quick drive-by, and that's it.

Priceless comment about Spinelli! Big smile
