HomeTVDays of Our LivesNick Wants Will Declared an Unfit Father on Days of Our Lives Luke Kerr January 23, 2013 Days of Our Lives, TV Recap 17 Comments At the Brady Pub, Nick (Blake Berris) told Rafe (Galen Gering) he wanted to spend the rest of his life taking care of Gabi (Camila Banus). Later, Ned Ashton, oops, wrong soap! I mean Justin (Wally Kurth) showed up and Rafe left. Nick quickly gave Justin a dollar, so their conversation would be covered by attorney/client privilege. After Justin accepted it, Nick said he wanted to know what his and Gabi’s rights to the baby were. Nick also wanted to know what it would take to prove Will (Chandler Massey) would be an unfit father, so he and Gabi would get full custody. Justin told him he wanted nothing to do with Nick’s plan and gave him back the dollar. Gabi asked God for forgiveness at the church. Nicole (Arianne Zucker) showed up and the two talked. I’m not sure what I think of Nicole becoming a talk-to, instead of being the one causing drama. Seems like a waste of talent to me. Sami (Alison Sweeney) grilled Will (Chandler Massey) about his child. She told her son that if he wanted rights to his kid, he was going to have to fight for them. Will said maybe she should listen to the child’s father and do less talking. Sami said she was doing the talking, because Will hadn’t come to grips with things yet. When EJ (James Scott) showed up, she left so that he could talk to her son alone. EJ provided a supportive shoulder for Will to lean on. Finally, he was able to get out how he felt about everything, without Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) or Sami pressuring him. At the hospital, Daniel (Shawn Christian) confronted Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) about the phone number to Child Protective Services being on her desk. Meanwhile, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) lurked about the hospital to see how the little plot to set Jennifer up worked out. When it did, she was ecstatic. Confused, Jennifer went to Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) for help in trying to figure out how the piece of paper ended up on her desk. Jennifer quickly speculated that Chloe was the one behind the note. Maggie recommended Jennifer should have a conversation with Daniel. By the end of the episode Daniel and Jennifer had met at the hospital and apologized to one another. The single best moment of Tuesday’s Days of Our Lives is when Nicole bumped into Sami and greeted her with: “Oh hey, how’s it going there, granny?” The look on Sami’s face was priceless. I need more Nicole vs. Sami in my soap life. EJ came to Sami's defense when she and Rafe went at it over Will and Gabi's drama. It's nice to see EJ and Sami actually being there for one another, no manipulation, no sinister agenda. This time around their reunion appears to organically be on the horizon. 17 Responses brettyboy January 23, 2013 I just want to punch that Nick and I feel sooooooo sorry for Will, Sonny has to forgive him!! If I were Will I’d fight for custody and try to get Nick declared an unfit parent rather than the other way around, surely being a murder and kidnapper is a bigger reason than being gay! I’m starting to turn against Gabi too, how dare she not tell Will about the sonogram? Log in to Reply ChrisGa January 23, 2013 Just when I thought I couldn’t stand the Nick character any more than I do, I watch yesterday’s(and today’s)episode and I prove myself wrong. The writers have turned what was a briefly-promising return into the most despicable character on the show. As far as using the knowledge that Will shot EJ as leverage, at least EJ survived. Nick’s guy? Not so lucky. Again, confused gay guy vs. homophobic murderer? Sorry, Nick. You lose. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon January 24, 2013 It would appear that Nick is going to use his knowledge of the fact that Will shot EJ as leverage to get Will to renounce his rights to the baby or to have Will be declared an unfit father. If that’s how they’re going to play it, then I would say that would be another case of a soap completely ignoring real-life legalities. When the three people involved (EJ, Will, Lucas) say something happened a certain way, the authorities cannot take the word of someone who says it happened differently but was not present. Nick’s testimony would not be admissible in any court of law in the U.S.A. I learned that from Judge Judy. Log in to Reply pjc722 January 24, 2013 The whole NICK part of any story makes me think that he will go off the deep end once more! Sadly, Days has opted to just rewrite sad stories from the 80s and when I say sad I don’t mean TEARS I mean BAD. I just wish that when Justin was handing back the dollar bill to this BUS BOY in a dock bar, that Justin also said that the only way to make WILL look bad would be for him to kill Salem! Nick is the bad seed and if this story or direction goes the way so many soap plots these days do then it’s just absurd. Nick just got out of prison, has to be making MINIMUM, minimum wage and by all accounts can’t be with the kid once a week cause HE’S at his parole officer’s office! I like that Chloe is back but for CRYIN’ OUT loud we just went through MONTHS and MONTHS of Nicole trying to win and keep Daniel, WHY ON earth would we watch Chloe now try and do it?!!!! It makes absolutely no sense and I wish that they brought Chloe back with more maturity and depth than “I want this man” mentality. I would have bought the BITCH direction where she wanted him only for his money but from the looks of his wardrobe and lack of hair product, Dr McSteamy Goody Two Shoes doesn’t have two dimes to rub together!!! It is again proof that DAYS just needs a DRASTIC redo on characters, direction and writing. Meh Log in to Reply lostfan January 24, 2013 Can’t stand Nick and not liking Blake Berris at all. I hope he and Gaby are off the show soon Log in to Reply The_Moustache January 24, 2013 ****Gabi asked God for forgiveness at the church.**** Log in to Reply Soap_Stud January 24, 2013 Nick is a completely different type of guy this time around. I do think the writers could justify his behavior, with all of his time in prison. While I think he is still a douchebag, if the writers would give him some scenes with Marlena working through some stuff, I would lessen my displeasure of him. There have been some great scenes lately. I loved the scenes between Will and Sami. I could not imagine how it would feel to realize my parenting approach, and life decisions, played a part in my son’s decision to hide the fact he was a father of a baby, and be “okay” with someone else raising the son as his own. I also liked the scenes between Will and Lucas. Blake Berris is good as borderline crazy and Chandler Massey has been strong in his scenes opposite Berris. Log in to Reply soapbaby January 24, 2013 I don’t mind Nick Fallon being a “villain” or even a raging homophobe but I do mind that Blake Berris brings no nuance to the character. He and Camila Banus are not good actors and while DAYS writing is underwhelming these two have ample opportunity to turn in worthwhile performances. Case in point, Nadia Bjorlin is playing Chloe with an edge and is fun to watch this time around despite the horrible writing. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon January 24, 2013 The show needs characters like Nick and Gabi in order to create conflict because, as much as I like Will and Sonny, I have to admit that those two by themselves do not make for gripping, can’t-miss TV. Besides, where is the fun in watching a show in which you like every character? And yes, soapbaby, I never thought I would be able to say the following words in a million years: I’m enjoying Nadia Bjorlin’s performance. Log in to Reply Margaret Thatcher January 24, 2013 Nick (Blake Berris) is beginning to display behaviors suggesting that he is mentally ill. My guess is, he will ultimately go off the deep end and try to harm or even kill Will (Chandler Massey). I hope Nick is apprehended and Will survives. Perhaps then, the brain dead Gabi (Camila Banus) will finally wake up and see Nick for who he is and not the lover man she wants him to be. Knowing the direction of Days has taken the past year, I worry the writers will manage to somehow insert Jennifer (Melissa Reeve) into the storyline (she grabs the knife or gun Nick is wielding, thus saving Will) just to give Melissa Reeve the relentless facetime she inexplicably enjoys on Days. LMAO. The LAST thing she should be right now is relegated to scheming for Daniel!!! Re: Nick & Gabi, I agree that the characters are needed now but I wish the actors were strong. I have never bought into Will & Sonny as a couple. There is nothing compelling there. I preferred them as friends. Even if Sonny developed feelings for Will after months of friendship, there should have been a slow-burn and some real drama. Also, while likeable, I feel Sonny is a woefully underdeveloped character. There are golden opportunities here and not capitalized on! Log in to Reply Soap_Stud January 24, 2013 I think Blake Berris is doing fine work. While Camila has improved since her OLTL stint, she still doesn’t have much range, which hurts the story, IMO. I do think the story is better than when it first started, especially now that the secret is out and more characters are involved. For me, Daniel has ran his course on the show. He is a snore of a character and I hate the damage that has been done to Jennifer. Remember, the actors just play what they are given..they don’t pick and choose stories or lines. So, since I feel this way about Daniel, I am not real into Nadia’s return..other than she is easy to look at. Log in to Reply dqh257 January 24, 2013 Am I the only person who kind of doesn’t understand Will’s POV? He outed himself as the father, even when he could have kept up the charade and say that Chad is a liar and keeps telling Nick/Gabi that the only reason he wants custody of his child is because everyone knows he’s the father, not because HE IS THE FATHER. @Margaret Thatcher- Gabi attracts guys who are mentally unstable, first Andrew and now Nick. Finally, DAYS is taking plot points that made no sense when first introduced and incorporating them into the characters. Less Nick going off the deep end, I’m hoping for a child custody battle a la GL’s Bridget v. Vanessa over Peter. Log in to Reply Soap_Stud January 24, 2013 How much did I love the Bridget v. Vanessa story back in the day?! Log in to Reply soapbaby January 24, 2013 [quote=dqh257]I’m hoping for a child custody battle a la GL’s Bridget v. It seems as though he’s been drinking a lot more crazy juice in the last week and it wouldn’t surprise me if he pulled out all the stops to get that kid including possibly harming Will. Still, I have a feeling that with BB only signed on for a year that the end result of all this will actually be Nick’s demise, not Will’s. And I’m totally okay with that.
