HomeTagsComings & GoingsKelly Thiebaud Put on Contract as General Hospital’s Bitchy Britt! Jamey Giddens February 4, 2013 Comings & Goings, General Hospital 28 Comments Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) and Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) are in for it now! Soap Opera Digest is reporting Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) has been placed on contract at General Hospital! I couldn't be happier about this news. While I didn't see the point of Britt or Sabrina early on, the story has hooked me over the past few weeks. Thiebaud—a dead ringer for a young Sherilyn Wolter (ex-Celia Quartermaine, GH; ex-Elena/Eleanor, Santa Barbara)—is a natural at playing a bitch-goddess-in-training. I screamed with laughter when Britt told Emma she didn't like her either! Come on, who hasn't wanted to say that to a bratty child? Speaking of kids, Silzer is one of the best child stars daytime has produced in years. As for Castillo, it's easy to root for her in this mini-telenovela-meets-rom-com arc on GH. I can't wait to see what stunt the dastardly doc pulls next! 28 Responses SwanQueen59 February 4, 2013 Just speaking for myself here, but I’m a bit tired with her one note nastiness. Granted we don’t have any backstory on her and I’m waiting to see if there’s another agenda being hidden here. However, KT is doing a good job creating a completely loathsome character a la Briana Brown’s Lisa Niles… 0:) Log in to Reply angrierblackerman February 4, 2013 I like Britt, the show needs some bad girls since Carly has been turned into Blair. I also think the actress KT is a decent actor. The Patrick reveal scene showed me that she can at least portray emotions. Log in to Reply Ravennite613 February 4, 2013 I agree I like having a character like Britch around and I agree I laughed my pants when she told Emma that she didn’t like her…for me while I love Emma, she came off very bratty. Log in to Reply soapbaby February 4, 2013 I thought she was on contract. Especially as we see her more often than Nancy Lee Grahn and John J. York combined! I think she and Teresa Castillo are talented but the characters too shallow and one-note. They have been front-burnered for months with zero-character development. The story sucks donkey balls. LOL. Sabrina is no more root-worthy because Britt is bad. Also, the story makes Patrick look silly. Can the actors get a “do-over?” Log in to Reply monica186 February 4, 2013
Also, the story makes Patrick look silly. Can the actors get a “do-over?”
Yes! They need to remake this character and give her some back-story if they are going to keep the actress around. She is nearly irredeemable at this point since she didn’t speak up when Emma was missing. I pretty much wrote her off when she stole the Christmas DVD from Elizabeth. Who does that? But then she declared war on a child and that was it for me. I’m not sure that this actress is good enough to win me back, but I guess time will tell. Log in to Reply Jeff February 4, 2013 I also thought she was already on contract, and I am actually rooting for Britt over Sabrina. Maybe it’s me, but Sabrina pining over Patrick gives me the super creeps, and it’s creepier that he might be attracted to her too. And, I loved when she told off Emma. She reminds me of Liza Colby (the Marcy Walker version not the Jamie Lunar version). But, I do think they need to make her sympathetic soon in some way (please no violent crime to her). Maybe reveal a perfect sister that got all the attention or a dad who was super hard on her or a hot-mess mother (paging Kim Zimmer or Peter Reckell) Log in to Reply curacaoman February 4, 2013 Felix called her Dr. WestNile, I would say it is more like WestNiles! Log in to Reply mfarris70 February 4, 2013 I love Britt aka Dr. Westnile. I think of her as a woman who’s read lots of “be assertive” articles in magazines and taken it way too far. Would be great if she turned out to be Celia and Jimmy Lee’s daughter! Log in to Reply SwanQueen59 February 4, 2013
Felix called her Dr. WestNile, I would say it is more like WestNiles!
LOL! Nicely done… 0:) Log in to Reply BossTime01 February 4, 2013 Gotta be honest: the character development has shown potential but this girl CAN NOT ACT at all! Most of her lines are delivered with the same rushed, unemotional intonation regardless of the mood/plot happening around her in any given scene. She speeds through her lines like a 5th grader robotically reciting the Declaration of Independence for whom memorizing the lines is such an accomplishment that proper intonation and pronunciation is totally lost. She speaks like a semi-adult valley girl who actually sounds rather childish. Has Ms. Thiebaud ever taken a basic public speaking class? She doesn’t enunciated her T’s at all. Every time she says “Patrick” – which is frequently – it sounds more like “Pashrick.” Perhaps she’ll grow into the role but with so many talented actresses looking for work, it’s a shame that someone this poor gets a contract role. I used to call her Dr. WestPORN, but I like WestNile better! Log in to Reply Jon February 4, 2013 She’s a pretty woman with her mouth closed but those chiclet teeth are such a distraction. Log in to Reply Yoryla February 4, 2013 This isn’t news. She’s been on contract from nearly the start of her run. Britt, Sabrina, Felix and Rafe are all on contract. Only Ellie is on recurring. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens February 4, 2013 This isn’t news. She’s been on contract from nearly the start of her run. No, Yorla, she has not been. In the Feb. 11 issue of Soap Opera Digest, it was reported that she has been bumped up to contract, complete with a quote from the actress about the development. Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 February 4, 2013 I thought she already was. Anyway not a wise decision. There are others that would deserve this contract more. Well, then someone has reported false information before. I definitely remember reading the announcement in October or November that she was upgraded to contract. Log in to Reply Daniel St. John February 4, 2013 I like Britt well enough and the actress pulls off bitchy very convincingly but the triangle she is currently in is dull dull dull. Hopefully we get some backstory on the character and she is revealed to have some familial ties to some Port Charles mainstays. Log in to Reply sweetiepie February 4, 2013 Totally agree that Lisa and Sabrina are one note, and laughably so. I do believe that there is a bacstory for her that put her in Patrick’s orbit for a reason. I wish they would reshape her out more because this obsession with Patrick has gotten really old. The same can be said for Sabrinas school girl crush. I’m over both of them totell you the truth. Log in to Reply SwanQueen59 February 4, 2013
Only Ellie is on recurring.
I’d like it if Emily Wilson (Ellie), was the one they put on contract… 0:) Log in to Reply brettyboy February 4, 2013 Every soap needs a bitch! Log in to Reply Secrets and Lies February 4, 2013 @Yoryla: I also saw that apparent misinformation a while back – it was on the GH wiki on her character page and was sourced to her acting coach’s web site. Said she had a 2 year contract from the get-go. Guess it was just bad info (or she got downgraded then re-upped). Log in to Reply Mandolin February 4, 2013
She’s a pretty woman with her mouth closed but those chiclet teeth are such a distraction.
a very nice distraction to me ! Anyway I have been finding watching the Pat – Sab-Bri story to be compelling viewing as Bri gives us such a contrast to the ( at present ) dowdy Saint Sabrina. I know that’ll change , but … Britt is going to serve as an interesting villainess , being a doctor at the hospital. WHen she gets over Pat I wonder who she’ll go after next . Anyway , a smart hire for GH!! Log in to Reply Kazy24 February 5, 2013 The first thing I thought when I saw this was “great, another newbie getting a contract and eating up screentime other veteran actors (yes RH is who comes to mind) deserve. From what I have seen of her she is going to be an entertaining bitchy character. But I’d prefer they use the talent they have had in front of them for years before contracting a bunch of newer actors. Log in to Reply tommie February 5, 2013 I find Britt, Sabrina and Patrick story laughable at best. Patrick just the other day said that he should believe Emma. How about Patrick starts with Robin’s phone call to Emma that Patrick dismissed listening to s student nurse he knows nothing about. Been there with the Psysho Lisa and innocent nurse Leyla story not we have it again with Lisa/Britt and Leyla/Sabrina in the parts. Patrick should have had his addiction story not getting over his addiction in a day or so. What an insult to people with REAL addictions. Patrick could have also had story with his in laws. This isn’t even Patrick anymore and Emma looks less and less like Emma only used to prop the student nurse. All destruction of characters to prop a nurse with the Disney Cinderella story. A grown man in a childish story. What a joke it has become. Can we get Robin back, Emma needs her MOTHER ROBIN! Log in to Reply ANGELWENDY15 February 5, 2013 I really never liked the character of Britt, too one-dimensional, but every soap needs a bad girl. It should get interesting soon, as I’m sure Britt will seek revenge on Sabrina. Love little Emma. Now she is a great child actress! Log in to Reply logan_echolls February 5, 2013 The only reason she was put on contract is to Ron can have her torment Sabrina so the audience will like Sabrina. In a recent interview, Ron had no idea that Sabrina was such a polarizing character. So he will keep this character of Britt on to try to make Sabrina more likable. If Sabrina isn’t likable now, she will never be. Log in to Reply maxsmom February 5, 2013
I thought she was on contract. Can the actors get a “do-over?”
I mostly agree with this except I don’t think the actors need the do-over, I think the characters need to be re-introduced with histories, points of view and interests other than Patrick. I also think giving KT a contract is RC’s typical response to the criticism he has received regarding both Britt and Sabrina. Log in to Reply soapbaby February 5, 2013 ^^I completely agree. “Character re-introduction” is a better way to put it rather than “do-over” Perhaps we see so little Rebecca Herbst because of the fan response as well? Hmmm… Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
