Days of Our Lives is Officially on FIYA Again!

Days of Our Lives is officially must-see soap opera again. The Brian/Sonny/Will/Gabi/Nick drama is the best young adult/teen saga playing out on daytime right now. Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson) is literally screwing over Jarlena (Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall) — and using their dimwitted-yet-hunky son Brady (Eric Martsolf) to do so. (Yes, I know Isabella is the boy's bio mama, but Doc raised him, when she wasn't purring like a horny house cat and/or being kept in a birdcage!)

A strikingly-beautiful and cunning Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) is actually providing root factor for Dannifer (Shawn Christian and Melissa Reeves). Yep, Salem U.S.A is finally a place I look forward to visiting every day. If you need any more proof of just how good DAYS is right now, watch the recap video below from Tuesday's show.

Johnny to Rafe: "Mommy had something to do!"

She sure did, lil fella. She sure did...

Hee on the Johnny comment. Big smile

I'm curious on what the ratings will be for last week and this week. I've enjoyed the show a lot the past 3 weeks.

I'm rooting for Chloe (love her as a schemer) to get her man and then the two of them should disappear into the sunset together.

Its on Fire, but not the good kind. The Stories on here are really losing interest by fans. No one is being impressed. The writers of Days need to fix these stories, or at least end them, because they are failing fast. Maybe that should also teach them to not film so far ahead.

Root factor for Dannifer ... Nadia Bjorlin's beautiful but nobody's that big a miracle worker. Chloe's character is being dictated by Dannifer's lack of inherent chemistry and character-driven potential just like Nicole's was. I'm supposed to be rooting for Jennifer to win but I'm not. At least Danloe had great chemistry.

Which fans are you presuming to talk about?

I'm a fan and I'm impressed.

I wouldn't say I'm exactly "impressed", I am more "still invested" in stories that have been on for a long time - namely Kristen/Brady and everything that goes with it.

Also I am interested in the Will/Gabi saga, but that story has some bad points. One major one is of course Gabi, and the actress who plays her, and another is I don't feel they are giving enough screentime for Sonny and the WilSon pairing as the central pairing in this. I guess I mean the story feels a little disjointed.

And what also strikes me very odd is that with the back support Will has, Nick shouldn't realistically stand any kind of chance against him. So even the idea of him challenging Will not to mention possibly winning seems so ludicrous that it makes me disinterested in the storyline.

And I'm still waiting for Stefano to get back (like I already was six months ago), to get back with Kate, to move back into the DiMera mansion and to have Kristen, EJ & Chad living there too. When are all THESE things going to happen?!

Also, I'm still waiting for something to be done with Bo, so Hope can be free and have a new man and a STORYLINE. And I'm still waiting on Abe & Kayla to hit the sheets. Was that scrapped? If so, why? Where IS Abe anyway?

Having said all this, I DO enjoy watching DAYS, and it is DEFINITELY my number two soap at the moment, right after GH !

The Will/Sonny/Brian etc. is amazingly written and well acted, especially by Chandler, Freddie and the guy playing Brian. I don't like Blake Berris, but maybe part of it is he is such a bastard on the show, and not the kind you love to hate, but who you really hate. And Priscilla not much of an actress but that has been said. The gay storyline is SO realistic--even extending to Lucas's concerns, him going to pflag meetings to try to understand and support--I did all that in my life when my son came out. And the way they are depicting gay relationships with the affection and everything--Days really needs to get credit for that.

I was previously no fan of Eileen Davidson--I felt her portrayal of Ashley on Y&R was mannered and elitest, and I felt susan banks was gimicky and schtity. This time, however, she has blown me away!! She is acting with such glee, you can tell how much fun she is having being bad this time. her Kristin this time is an example of a charcter you love to hate, but I actually think she and Brady are very hot together. i hope she winds up really caring for him...

I am thoroughly enjoying Days-and not just Ejami but I still think they can find a way to give Lucas a story.

I would love for them to give Lucas a story--Brian Datillo is very hot, but I like his hair long!!

I actually love to hate Nick. I don't like his actions, but BB has impressed me with his increasing descent into a controlling/psycho type character.

The Kristen story kind of feels a bit repetitive right now. I hope they shake it up soon.

Chloe has been a breath of fresh air, but the Jen/Dan story is still a complete dud for me. I can't stand how so many characters seem to go crazy over Dr. Dan. Enough already.

I don't care about Sami and her men. I prefer her alone in full bitch mode.

It's taken a long time for Days to get back the groove it had right after the Olympic break but Nick & Gabi's non wedding finally got the ball rolling.

I'm waiting for the backstory on what happened to Nick in prison to explain the kind of person he has become. BB being a good actor is gonna totally rock that story beat.

Nick digging up proof that Will shot EJ way back when is also gonna stir up all kinds of drama.

I'm also betting that it's only a matter of time before Gabi gets exposed in retaliation as the one who triggered the Daysaster chain of events that caused Jack's death among other things. I can't wait for Abby to find out about this & confront Gabi. It's also gonna give her an explanation of Chad's behavior & it's gonna ramp up the Cameron/Abby/Chad triangle.

I thoroughly enjoyed the shenanigans that Nicole got herself into last week. It stirred up all kinds of drama with Kristen, Brady & Eric and I'm LOVING it. This is a quad I could get thoroughly invested in. And I can see how it'll kick start the road to Eric & Nicole, aka Salem's Thornbirds, another couple who I find has a lot of chemistry together.

Chloe coming back for Daniel is what saved this portion of the canvas from becoming total FF material to me. But I'm not sure it'll have the desired effect since I'm rooting for Chloe to succeed in breaking up Dannifer, the world's stupidest & most boring couple that they sacrificed Jack Deveraux for.

Last but not least, Days is good to me for finally properly getting my OTP together after nearly 7 years. EJ & Sami have insane chemistry together so whatever storyline they give them as a couple, I know I'll be entertained because James Scott & Alison Sweeney can play it all & bring out the best, acting wise, in each other. This is also the most alive I've seen Samantha Gene Brady be in YEARS.

A couple of nitpicks I'd love the show to work on:

-Give Lucas a story. Pretty please. I hope he'll have a significant part to play if Nick is dredging up him going to prison for Will.

-Give Rafe a story outside of EJ & Sami & a new love interest. It's about time. If Days is truly invested in subjecting the audience to this character, then they should prove it by not attaching him to Sami & EJ's hip.

Yep, the show's been practically must-see since Christmas and I'm just happy to see that it's not losing it's momentum.

The baby saga is still chugging along, managing to bring in all kinds of drama from all corners. While I thought Will lying to Sonny was enough of a conflict to (temporarily)rend WilSon to bits, throwing in a third party(Brian) to stir the pot was a classic soap move done well. After watching today's ep, I can see the writers putting the pieces into place for a Will/Sonny endgame(which I'm thrilled about)but I suspect there's gonna be plenty of soapy conflict along the way, especially if Nick and that sexy bastard Brian has their say.

Speaking of Nick, the more the storyline progresses the more I get the feeling that Nick is about to lose a permanent grip on reality sooner rather than later. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he doesn't make it out of this whole thing either locked back up or dead; I know Nick is supposed to be the "villain", and BB is doing a good job, but unless they do something to explain Nick's homophobic behavior shift, i.e. he was raped in prison, I have nothing for the character and would love to see him gone. Permanently.

As for Sami and her men--after yesterday's ep and the mechanical lovemaking from her and EJ(it was like a gay man sleeping with a woman..oh wait, they did that already...and Will and Gabi were actually more believable)I'm convinced more than ever that Sami belongs with Rafe. Didn't see a bit of chemistry between AS and JS during those scenes.

Finally, can't go without yet again praising Eileen Davidson. While the show is more balanced than it's been in years, we can thank her for lifting it on her back straight up out of the dung heap and getting it here. If she doesn't get at least a Best Actress Emmy nom--and frankly, she deserves the win--there really is no justice to be had.

I agree I find myself fast-forwarding LESS. The only scenes I blow through now are Dannifer (not even Chloe can get me to root for those two) and Abby & Cameron; she's as boring as her mother.

LOVE:

EJami
WilSon
Krady??
bitchy Marlena

I just want to add I hope they put a nail in Sami & Rafe. I couldn't stand them together from Day 1 and Sami & EJ have so much chemistry. Alison Sweeney seems to come alive in her scenes with him as well. Safe speaks for itself: it's boring. (And Rafe is as self-righteous as they come!)

I wouldn't take that out on Eileen Davidson; that's a proper portrayal of the Ashley character. I was always under the impression that, as an "Abbott" (as far as she knew), Ashley was supposed to be mannered and elitest. That's what makes her, Jack, and Tracy tick as Abbotts. That's why Victor, the "self-made" man, hates Jack so much, because Jack is "of the manor born."

I do love her portrayal of Kristen this time. I tend to root for the villains on these shows, but even I am having a hard time rooting for Nick, who I really enjoyed in his first stint on the show. Maybe it's because he's messing with Sami's kid and that's just a no-no.

I'm sorry Days is far from being an inferno creating some heat. I look and say which Sony drama am I feeling the most and least or is it a tie. Days still at the bottom of the (4) for me. Y&R is better, but Days needs to be shocked by some better writers... Im at the point of giving up on this show, and I only care about Ashley I mean
Kristen/Marlena/John/Brady...everything else is a snooze fest.

UGH-
One thing for sure Nicole hasn't change in the last 10 yrs and why are they creating Sami as this sweet chick...Sami was a demon spawn and now she all wholesome... UGH...I hate how they write Sami towards Kristen; giving Sami vigor of hate towards Kristen. When Kristen brought Roman back to Salem she was happy, and told everybody in Salem USA Kristen was an angel...I'm like this chick bipolar. Rafe? WTF? Luis-Lopez Fitzgerald need to go away and why do they keep Sonny in the same blue shirt in every show...I'm like the clothing budget at Days must be tighter than Ft. Knox- Jennifer keep chasing Daniel, and it seems she wears the same clothes at University Hospital daily.

Ann she hates Jennifer? I need Ann to do something beside cussing the staff out and scheming with Chloe... Why can't Kristen stay at the DeMiera Mansion? Where is that Mansion at? Why is Kristen living in some cheap motel? Why are the sets at Days a mess? Sami's office is the size of a broom closet- This show kills me. When are they bringing Susan back? I can't deal with this madness

I actually find myself FF more than ever. Dialoge between Jennifer/Daniel/Chloe is so predictable ... blah, blah, blah.

Nobody like Abigail and Cameron before ... why are we being subjected to it again?

Brady is an idiot ... and I don't like to hear him say the stupid things he says ... so I FF there too.

Love the show when Caroline is on ... like today. She sets people straight.

And right on cue, when we couldn't take homophobe Nick any longer, we start to find out he was raped in prison ... which is the only logical reason he would be homophobic. Stupid. GH already did the young boy raped in prison story ... so Days is like 3 years late and it is much ickier because we have to listen to Nick says "gayboy" all the time. I hate it.

Not feeling this show at all.

And another thing ...

This show obviously spends nothing on sets. Half of the scenes occur in the Horton Town Square, which permanently looks like Christmas Village USA. Salem is in the Midwest, right? No snow? Sofa's in the town square? Gimme a break...

I'm a 20+ year viewer (on and off) and I agree DAYS is the best it has been in a very long time. The cast is just about the best mix you could ask for of vets and newcomers (although they could stand to lose a little more dead weight we all know who they are) and the writing has improved immensely. To Tomsell's credit they respect history like MarDar did but their pacing and sense of direction is far superior.

All that said I think DAYS still has a ways to go until I rush to watch each episode the way I do GH (and I have only been watching that for about 1 year). The difference is that GH has more stories, more characters, the stories are inter-connected better, the stories move faster, and there are far more surprises.

We'll see what happens in the future but I agree that DAYS is on the right track!

@iowaninmn - Re: Horton Town Square. They only mentioned it once as far as I know (the day the set debuted) but HTS is covered with like a glass dome or something like a hybrid indoor/outdoor space. As far as the sets in general go, DAYS has the lowest budget of all the soaps so you have to just suspend disbelief a bit I guess!

Due to the audio-only nature of Nick's flashback, I thought at first that that other voice was a dual personality. LOL.

I really liked the two pairs of siblings today: EJ and Kristen cackling away and Brady and Sammy telling each other that they were crazy. And both being right.

I am absolutely loving Salem! Sure, there are a few weaker actors and at times some unbalanced airtime of the characters on the canvas, but since the Hortons hung their ornaments on the tree, it has been soaptacular! Smile

Root factor for Dannifer (Shawn Christian and Melissa Reeves)?

FOFLMAO. Melissa Reeves is a dim bulb. A lousy actress with few skills to flesh out a character. She's like watching a cardboard cut-out of a human being. I hope Ken Corday decides to cut her free then Days will really soar.

LOL at Margaret Thatcher's comments about Melissa Reeves.

And yes, it's driving me crazy that Kristen isn't living in the Dimera mansion? That lousy hotel room that Nicole used to live in looks horrible. And the coral coloring does nothing for the actors. DUMP THAT SET. Ohhh and LOL at Salem place looking like Santa's village. It's def. got a 90's mall feel to it--very tacky.
