General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Caleb pretends he's John, and informs Rafe he wants to take him back to the crime scene and review what happened to his mother.  Rafe's not eager to go anywhere with him, so Caleb brings along a uniformed officer.

Luke interrupts Todd and Carly's intense conversation inside The Sun's offices.  When Carly finally lets Luke in, he informs her that he knows about a possible Quartermaine heir. Luke wants her to tell him what she knows.  Carly realizes Luke's trying to worm his way back into Tracy's good graces, but she refuses to help him. She feels it would hurt Michael.  Luke gets angry, and slams the desk beside him. Todd, hiding underneath the desk, reacts and Luke pulls him out by the ear.

Federal agents want to arrest Tracy for fraud and racketeering, but Connie arrives and stops them.  She tells them she's the publisher of The Sun, and it was her story.  Connie claims to have lost the evidence, which means the agents can't arrest Tracy.

Michael informs AJ that Connie recanted her story about Sonny giving her the information.  AJ's not ready to believe Connie's new story.  Duke arrives, and AJ asks if he managed to find a way to save ELQ.  Duke hasn't been able to unfreeze the assets, or hold off the creditors.  Michael feels they need to find other means to save the company.  Duke decides to look into the past.

Sonny's glad Connie had a change of heart, and thinks they need to identify whoever actually gave Connie the information.  Shawn wonders who would have motive to do such a thing, and Sonny names Tracy.

Lucy tells Anna she needs to protect Rafe from Caleb, and wants Anna to release Rafe to her custody.  Anna refuses, but Lucy forces her at gunpoint to go down to the holding cells.  Anna is shocked to discover Rafe is gone.  The women check the cell for clues of an escape, and Anna distracts Lucy long enough to handcuff her to the bars.

Tracy thanks Connie for saving her from the feds.  Connie admits she's not used to doing nice things for people.  She tastes some of Lila's relish, and gushes about how good it is.  Tracy worries someone will find out she is the leak, as Sonny and Shawn arrive and overhear Tracy's confession.  Tracy begs Sonny not to tell anyone, but Sonny heads out.  Connie promises to fix things for Tracy.

Connie asks Sonny not to tell Michael the truth, because Tracy will lose her son. She points out Sonny constantly worries about the same thing.  Sonny agrees not to say anything, because he owes Connie a favor for recanting her testimony on the stand.

Luke threatens to call the police on both Todd and Carly, unless she tells him what he wants to know.  Carly caves and mentions Franco once told her about a possible daughter named Lauren, but that's all she knows.

Todd thanks Carly for saving him, and asks her again to run away with him.  Carly doesn't want to be on the run with him.  Todd asks about her feelings, but Carly is still angry he made her look like a fool.  Todd says he's in a lot of trouble, and needs to leave immediately.  They kiss, and he points out their kiss didn't feel like hatred.

Luke tells Tracy about Franco's possible daughter.  Tracy wants to find her.  She needs to repair the damage, and complains about Edward leaving her the relish. However, she soon has a thought about Pickle Lila.

Duke returns to ELQ, and shows Michael and AJ a file about Pickle Lila.

Anna looks at the surveillance video, and is shocked to see "John" lead Rafe away.

In the alley, Caleb wants Rafe to go over the details, and uses the police officer as an example.  Rafe can't believe his eyes when Caleb kills the officer.  Caleb declares he's Rafe's father, and will fix everything. He vows to raise him as the Morley he's meant to be. When Caleb attempts to take Rafe away on a boat, Rafe bolts.

Today was a perfect example of why I don't like the vampire story. It makes everyone look stupid....Rafe, Anna, that under 5 cop and poor Michael Easton. The PCPD doesn't wonder why "McBain's" hair is 3 inches longer? The under 5 cop just allows "McBain" to take a criminal out of lock up? Nobody else at the PCPD sees this and questions it? Poorly written and poorly acted by Easton. You can tell he isn't liking this story.

Another stupid plot twist: if there is no evidence against Tracy, doesn't the whole case against ELQ fall apart as well?

I want Caleb to turn Sabrina, Felix, and Lulu into vampires!!

Let them have some fun.
Caleb will not be a vampire--just an over the top psychopath that acts like one.
Do we really want more trial scenes with tracy?--the connie/tracy friendship is worth some suspension of logic.

And I think we might actually be seeing some subtlety in a DID storyline from cartini (I know subtle and connie don't go together but look at what's happening with her character. maybe Kate is working from behind the scenes (or forehead or wherever she is lurking. Kate has to accept that Connie has a heart and is something beyond her ruthless alter used for survival. And Connie has to get that Kate is something other than a dupe (that she there is something to her having a capacity for relationships. And Connie's fiery bitch with a hidden heart and Kate for much of the way she was played originally (devil wears prada rip off) are also mirror images of each other. This could be a path toward integration rather than this battle between the selves caricature.

The rest is pretty good--I want Anna and Lucy to take down Caleb together (Dante and Sonny do not need to apply to come to the rescue of these damsels...although...if Kevin got involved (he owes Lucy) and Duke came on board as partners (or sidekicks) for the strong women that would be OK

And Sabrina better discover contacts soon. I can see playing to the princess diaries/every teen movie that has not been as good as john hughes movie fans--but its gotta end with the nurses ball--I think the actress is capable of handling a grown up relationship and then the heartbreak of letting Patrick go when Robin returns.

Finally, for those who are tired of Elizabeth's being a sidekick--take another frame--isn't it nice to see her out of the me so sad, me so horny caricature of guza's regime and doing something (be a friend, be a competent professional) that is not depending on being in reaction to a GH (usually mob) leading man? Think of this as a sorbet palate cleanser (deeply needed after the past ten years) before another hearty dramatic course.

This regime is capable of writing strong, independent female characters (Vicki and Dorian of course, but also the current Anna)--let's hold out for a plot of that quality for a very talented actress and possibly the most distinctively beautiful actress on daytime.

I really wanted to like this episode -- it's Friday after all. But it left me wanting a lot more. In fact, it kind of pissed me off. I love this show, but let me tell you what bothered me today.

First of all, where the hell are Frisco, Felicia, Maxie, and Mac??? It's been three days since Maxie came face-to-face with her father whose been absent from her life for 18 years or so. Frisco popped in unannounced on his ex-wife, who had just re-united with good guy Mac. And now, nothing??? Frisco came back for this? And instead of showing us these scenes (or making us wait too long) we get to see Sonny and Shawn hanging out on the docks??? Who cares what these two are doing or saying? Especially to each other.

Watching Michael in the ELQ offices made me squirm. This is a high school graduate, no college mind you, who is coming up with solutions to a problem that is shutting down the major corporation in town. I really liked the AJ-Michael reunion when it started, but it's getting boring. There has to be more to AJ than these behind-the-desk scenes getting advice from a 19-year old kid on how to save the family business.

And what are they doing with Duke? I thought that was kind of sad ... watching Duke kind of suck up to AJ??? I like AJ, but Duke calling him and Michael "Mr. Quartermaine"? Very strange in my opionion. Duke looked so week and pathetic.

Did I hear that Laura Webber Baldwin Spencer is returning to Port Charles on Monday? You sure wouldn't know it by watching the episodes the last few days. Absolutely no build up ... nothing. Is she just going to show up and join the vampire crusade?

Todd and Carly? Who cares? Not me.

Connie ... don't we see enough of her already? Does she have to invade the Quartermaine universe now?

Where are Ellie and Spinelli?

While completely unbelievable, I loved the Lucy-Anna scenes! Lucy is quite over the top, but I'll take it. I thought it was hilarious when Anna asked "where is everyone?" as a lunatic has a gun pulled on the police commissioner at the police station! A question many in the audience were wondering themselves, so to hear her ask the question, was funny.

I like the vampire story ... I know a lot of people don't. I never watched Port Charles, so I don't have that connection. I just think Michael Easton, the Rafe kid, Lucy, and all the supporting players in that storyline are doing a great job.

^^ iowaninmn,

You said it very well. I agree with many of your points.

Especially the one about Laura coming back on Monday, which is the next episode after this! Now I am very trusting of Cartini on these matters, I'm sure they won't let me down. But still, I also have to wonder. This show is emotionally light years away from anything that connects to Laura. Is she gonna walk in at the docks? - that's where everything else seems to happen these days! (Why? That set is hideous and only approriate for shady dealings and deaths. Yet, now it seems someone is there every day!)

So yes I am wondering. But I'm hoping for the best. The previews I've seen look very promising.

The handling of Frisco and especially Frisco vs. Maxie is appalling. I have no idea how they will explain it the next time we see them. And even for Monday, there is a preview of Maxie...with Britt! WTH? Who cares about some bitchy doctor, when we have Frisco!?

I do love Michael working at ELQ and the newly found AJ/Michael relationship (I actually loved Duke referring to him as Mr. Quartermaine). But I find it cartoonish how big the ups and downs of this storyline are. At first minute, ELQ is totally fine, and the next everything is down and then suddenly (I'm sure) ELQ will be on top form again. It's kind of unnecessary. They should play that story up a little more.

Also, I did enjoy the Connie/Tracy scenes as an interaction. However, it is all tainted for me due to the knowledge that they are doing it all on purpose to continue to validate and make room for the character Connie. And I can't accept that. It's not organic. They are connecting Connie everywhere just so that it would be harder to let the character, and actress, go. But it can't be done that way. To me, it doesn't matter how good of an actress Kelly Sullivan is. It doesn't matter what Connie does or doesn't do. The fact is, has always been and will always be that she does not have a place on the GH canvas. The more we get these wonderful vets back, the more obvious it gets. The more Connie pales in comparison to them.

The character just doesn't belong and that's all there is to it.
*********************************************************

Loved the Luke & Carly family action. Also loved Luke finding Todd and grabbing him by the ear. Carly looks amazing, but I'm still not invested in Tarly in any way.

Something needs to happen with Lucy soon, either she needs to proven right or wrong, whichever way, but I can't see her acting crazy and treated like a loonatic for much longer. The scenes with Anna today cinched it for me. Lucy is a fabulous character and she needs to be restored to her glory.

Sonny+Shawn = Yawn

But, no matter what: Welcome back on Monday, Laura!!! Smile

One more thing regarding Duke....the man was in a Turkish Prison for about 20 years and then held by Faison in a hospital. He doesn't suffer from PTSTD? Let's say he isn't traumatized, but how in the heck did he learn to do Powerpoint presentations, Xcel spreadsheets, work a computer, etc. to be qualified to work at ELQ? We have seen none of the struggles of a man dealing with how the world has changed since he was last involved in it. AJ who has been away from the business world for 5 years while holed up in the hospital, Duke for 20 and Michael with no experience is crazy. The only thing that would make sense in this ELQ story is if Jax came to town and radied ELQ taking it over since it is obviously so vulnerable do to ppor management.

WE all know the PCPD isn't that smart remember all the years sonny and jason got away with everything???GH has always been like star trek where the under5 cop gets it and is just dumb....I like it and it. I always wanted the issue of the look a likes and vamps to be ironed out we lost some good characters when pc went off because the writers had no imagination and couldn't figure out a way to mesh the shows together..

In the world of business the idea that u did something even with the evidence gone is a killer and the feds won't just allow them to elq assets because the evidence is gone, because the will look for some else where for months or years its up to them when the let the assets go..

I think Caleb and John are twins separated at birth. Their real last name is Cassadine.
No one knows this except for Laura Spencer who will return on Monday with this big secret.
Caleb is not a vampire, but another Cassadine psycho with an hypnotic ring like the one David Grey used on Laura many years ago!

I think Michael Easton is doing a great job playing both characters. I am loving he new story with John and Caleb. It is so refreshing not to have a mob storyline on the show.

They cannot be Cassadine's because Michael Easton and Kelly Monaco have too much chemistry to waste as relatives.

Well, the fact that Caleb killed a cop in cold blood just to get his son SHOULD BE PROOF to everything that Michael Easton will not be staying on the show as Caleb after John McBain moves back to Llanview. (All that with ABC and PP is still way up in the air and sadly I am not sure why no pr department from either show or production house is releasing information that will calm fans of GH or OLTL about the characters/actors status)

I am not a fan of the stupidity all over PCPD. Anna came back to PC and was promptly given the COMMISIONER job over Mac who for some reason was failing at the job. But sadly, Anna has been proven to not only be absent from the job many many times over the course of her tenure as commish, but under her watch, the PCPD has gotten dumber and DUMBER! Look at any of the Heather stories and you will see what I mean. How many times can this lunatic escape prison!?!!

I understand its a soap... which SHOULD NOT BE AN EXCUSE if we want our shows to get better and pick up numbers in the ratings... but the writers are playing really loose with how things happen on this show. I think they need to pay attention to how the expect the characters to react to things and then plausibly give a solution not just a cartoon answer. Heather was able to literally grab a dead body (for a couple of days) and while the cops are in the next room escape with it. Heather has escaped a pennslyvania prison and gotten back into Port Charles WHILE THE CITY IS UNDER GOVERNMENT LOCK DOWN. Caleb easily takes a prisoner out of a jail cell and no one questions it and then no one questions anything on this show.

Robin has been held by 4 past villians on this show and NO ONE HAS ACTUALLY FOUND HER YET.

Don't get me on how Connie gets away with soooooooooo much.

Come on writers, stop being lazy and write great story.

Why would Caleb killing in cold blood convince us Michael Easton will not stay as Caleb? Sonny and Jason killed people in cold blood all the time and they stayed on. Todd was a gang rapist and killed people and he stayed a viable character on OLTL and now GH. Carly tried to kill Tony in cold blood in a court room. Luke killed Jake and remains on the show. Lucy Coe abetted Kevin O'Connor a serial killer on the show and was his alibi.Shawn seems to be Sonny's newest henchman and he is on the show and Heather Weber is still on the show despite her killings. Duke was in the mob and Johnny killed his father, Starr's kid and boyfriend and he is not going anywhere. Even Laura Spencer killed someone while a teen. Being a murderer is not a reason not to be a main character on GH.

NERescuer, you forget LuLu killing Logan.

I must have missed hearing the ball drop on the Frisco return story.

Where are Mac and the Joneses? Maybe with Lila Rae Alcazar, whose mom skipped town unexpectedly.

And what happened to Johnny's sentencing?

CarTini have taken on too many stories at the same time and are handling it very sloppily.

I would really like to see Michael Easton return to GH in a John McBain-like role, a strong hero who can balance the Sonny apologists, and have the character paired not with the simpering Sam but with Carly who needs a man who refuses to take her sh*t in what ever disguise it comes. Carly with Todd was entertaining because Howath's Todd was a hoot, but he is not strong enough for Carly. Their pairing became more comic relief than anything else. Carly was/is too old for Johnny who is just as much a criminal as Sonny. And I don't think there is enough forgiveness in the whole wide world for a loving relationship between Carly and AJ who she screwed over 90 ways from Sunday.

No way would Easton and Wright even compare to Easton and Monaco. Kelly and Michael have wonderful chemistry and ABC and GH are not crazy enough to not take advantage of it. Ratings are up for GH and Wright and Howarth are great together.

What is going on with this show???? Sad( Sad(

I was loving GH since the new time slot until about a month ago. I have about a month's worth of GH episodes that i just deleted because I could care less if I watched. There is some terrible sloopy writing and terrible acting going on. Caleb I am looking at you. This is the dumbest storyline I have ever seen and needs to go away as soon as possible. This is not what I wanted Lucy to return to. Micheal Easton is also not doing a good job in the acting department for Caleb. Crazy

Shawn. Poor black person on GH. They just don't know how to write for you or choose not to invest the time. I have to give Y&R credit, they are at least trying over there and it is refreshing.

Connie and Tracy. Why are they in scenes together???? The actors look uncomforatable and just as about as confused as I am. Connie just needs to go. Sick

Yes! It is a shame what they have done so far to Frisco's character. I have seen the newbie Rafe more than I have seen Frisco this week.

Personally I don't like any of the storylines or romantic pairings. Ellie and Spinelli had so much potential but they were just ruined by the whole Maxie wasted debacle.

I hope RC gets it together for the Laura return and 50th anniversary.

Michael Easton is doing a great job as Caleb and John. He doesn't even have to say a word when the character enters the scene and I know which character he is playing. He is a really good actor and all the haters looks so silly saying otherwise.

darling, of course you can tell the difference between John and Caleb. What lady can't tell the difference between 3 inches. It makes a difference. It has nothing to do with Easton's acting. It's the length. It's the hair and not the acting that distinguishes the 2 characters. If you can so easily tell the difference maybe you should be the new Police Commissioner of PC since nobody else seems able to tell the difference.

I would happily buy Caleb being a long-lost deranged Cassadine, but I agree with Jasam: ME needs to tighten Caleb up a little. I've been very reluctant to criticize GH lately, and I was really looking forward to this s/l, but ME's performance is a wee bit hokey and sloppy.

I guess I'm in the minority again but I'm liking GH and the stories that are going Unlike the many Monday morning Quarterbacks on here, I'm gonna let Ron C and the rest of his writers do their job without criticism from me. I hope Connie sticks around cause I like her way better than the Kate personality. And after all these years, I can't say that I care that much about Frisco or his so called reasons for staying away so long. I'm actually good with the amount of time it's taking for the writers to continue with that storyline. Could Jack Wagner's availability also have something to do with the fact that Frisco hasn't been on since his initial appearance?

I think Micheal Easton is doing a great job as John and Caleb. I'm sure he's enjoying it because how many actors on soaps get to play a different character? Most play the same character for years and years, and it must get boring like it did for Steve Burton. I like how Micheal switches from John to Caleb, and it's not just the hair. It's in the eyes, and his voice and mannerisms become more evil and saracastic. I'm sure this whole story was brought on to explain John leaving the show, hopefully just for awhile. I will miss him and Todd. I like Carly and Todd, there is chemistry between them and the way they just look at each other. Laura Wright has stated how much she loves working with Roger. And I like Sam with John. They both have those dark smoldering looks. Hope all this works out and we can have Todd and John on both GH and OLTL. It will be great for the actors too, more money and more exposure.
Can't wait to see Laura on Monday and then Scotty!!!!

I personally think this whole Caleb story was a last minute add-on as it looked like Easton had to leave. FV originally said in an interview, shon here I think, that there was just going to be a nod to the vampire stuff. Well, this has gone from nod to front-burner story. I GUESS McBain could leave but Caleb could stay but I think people are going to really, really hate it if this vampire stuff drags on too long. The vampire stuff was fun on PC until it became an everyday thing. Thought Lynn Herring and Easton did their scene very well but I think this should be concluded very quickly.

The headwriter Ron Carlivati said in a January 9 TV Guide interview:

"Our universes are colliding but this is no quick gimmick," Carlivati promises. "This will kick off a nice little mystery story: Is Lucy crazy or is there something very real going on here? And, if she's crazy, why do John and Sam feel like they've met before?".

The universes have collided and I love it. Caleb is simply a freaking psycho, not a vampire! Dang people, get over this vampire thing already and enjoy the effing story! It would be more plausible to say you don't like mysteries on your soaps than saying this vampire thing has gone too far, simply because I can guarantee Caleb is NOT going to be part of the undead in the long run! Don't you realize that this is a way to get people talking--drum up publicity to score even bigger ratings? Has it never occurred to you that this "vampire"story may lure viewers that used to watch PC to GH, thus creating higher ratings which in turn creates more revenue, which in turn gives GH a better opportunity to keep these vets coming back and/or putting them on contract instead of recurring? I for one would love to see Lucy and Kevin and Monica all on contract instead of recurring. But hey, if you prefer to bitch and moan about a story that has barely started and put more gray hair on your head by stressing over something irrelevant than by all means continue. I've said it once, I'll say it again, for those of you that are so stressed out about fangs about to invade your screen, take a deep breath and count to 10.

Yes, Carlivati did say that, but Valentini said it would be a "nod" not a full on concussion.
