HomeTVThe Young and The RestlessAre You The Young and the Restless’ Biggest Fan? Jamey Giddens February 14, 2013 The Young and The Restless 25 Comments It's hard to believe CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless is about to turn 40. The soap doesn't look a day over 29 — especially when Tracey Bregman (Lauren) is on the screen! In honor of Y&R's 40th B-Day on March 26, the sudser is sponsoring a 40th Anniversary Sweepstakes. For four weeks, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 12, fans can log onto www.cbs.com/yr40th to answer trivia questions related to the past four decades of the show and have a chance to win a trip to the Y&R set in Los Angeles to celebrate the 40th Anniversary with the cast and crew. Now I know some of DC's uber Genoa City lovers like ChristianDavis148, Harlee490, David46208 and Stoney07 will have a good shot at taking the top prize! So y'all head on over and start playing now! 25 Responses harlee490 February 14, 2013 Baby ALREADY BEEN THERE..LOVE IT …passed with flying colors! We have been on it. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model February 14, 2013 Entering as we speak! Update: Got all the questions right. Now if I can get in there and share my story ideas we might just have the future Head Writer. Log in to Reply pferrando February 14, 2013 With the new team in place (in its fifth month), I think Y and R is in pretty good shape going into its 40th! Case in point…Tuesday’s episode was fantastic. Especially the last 30 minutes, which could be their Emmy submission reel for the year. The transition from Paul on the rooftop to Nikki again playing the piano was such classic Y and R. It’s been a long time since I sat and watched in awe. Paul laying into Summer was GREAT! And to see it register on her face proves we have the old Phyllis back again. She’s no longer screaming in every scene. You can see her emotion again. There were so many well written moments…Billy going home just to be with his wife…Nikki and Victor on their couch…Summer and Fen “outside”…Abby visiting her Uncle…EVERYTHING clicked. It’s was so nice to see the music (for once) fit into the show, and not be forced, and the show featured vet characters. It was like watching real people talk to each other dealing with life. Classic soap opera. Log in to Reply sodsince16 February 14, 2013 I missed two. I’m glad there aren’t a lot of Luke, Lance, Lorie, and Leslie questions because my memory is fading too much to able to tell them apart anymore. Also, not one question about Vanessa Prentice, my favorite scary character from early Y&R (the veil…)? Log in to Reply Jon February 14, 2013 I’ve been watching since around 1978. I have to confess, though, that Y&R is currently my third favorite of the soaps I watch. GH is #1 and DOOL is #2. I am not that impressed with JFP and JG so far. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model February 14, 2013 SoapArmageddon: I tell you I would call CK into the office like Paul R. did and tell her as I puffed my cigar “You’re not even worth it!” Or Maybe I would send an stage hand out as she walked to her car to inform her: “You just worked your last day!” Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon February 14, 2013 David, I’d rather see you as EP. That way you could keep certain castmembers on their toes. (It pains me to confess that I’m completely ignorant about anything that happened on Y&R before ’92. Still and all, twenty years is a pretty long time.) Just missed the one. I was only 11 at the time…can’t believe where the time has gone! Congrats Y and R! Log in to Reply Yoryla February 14, 2013 8 out of 11 ! I’m happy with it, considering I didn’t even watch then… Log in to Reply Bartman202 February 14, 2013 [quote=pferrando]With the new team in place (in its fifth month), I think Y and R is in pretty good shape going into its 40th! I’m liking how the stories are gradually evolving and not “in your face, take it or leave it” as was the case of the two previous regimes. It’s not “The Phyllis Show” anymore – there is a nice balance of showcasing characters on an every-other-day basis and not every day! Another plus – NO DAISY!! Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 February 14, 2013 Well, it can’t be me….. or can it? Lol so much has passed over the past 40 years, even in my “real life”. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 February 14, 2013 WHAT A DAY TODAY!! Chelsea pregnant again? Oh my! Nikki telling Jack ( first ) : ” I have MS “…. double shock!! Congressman Wheeler ( Mark Pinter is excellent! ) learning Leslie’s “new name” and the little conversations with that… Phyllis and Summer finally learning to “share their emotions”. Gloria in all of her finest, and the take out Chinese food ( classic! ) Looks like “Lane” will need a new name. How does one combine Lily and Tyler? : Liar!!! ha ha ha Log in to Reply hey mon February 14, 2013 Got em all. Log in to Reply aveRex February 14, 2013 Music sucks, sucks, SUCKS on this show now. Bring back the old music, please. As for stories, some are okay and others not. I’m so hoping Lauren goes down on that sexy hot Carmine. That man is fine! Log in to Reply stoney07 February 14, 2013 I missed the year that Katherine drove the car over the cliff Hell, I wasn’t born til ’89….lol. got the rest right tho…yay me!!! And thanx for the shoutout Jamey. Ha…I feel important now. My arguments haven’t been in vain… Log in to Reply pferrando February 14, 2013 Regarding the music…they should give MTS/Nikki some piano music and let her “score” the show each day. I’ve loved the past couple of times they’ve had her play and the transitions…well done. Log in to Reply harlee490 February 15, 2013 I was in high school when drunk ass Kay drove Mr. C and crashed. She had left arguing with guess who? The original maneater herself Jill Foster…I loved Y&R of ’70s, Bill had his pause on everything back then in the beginnings of Y&R. Jennifer Brooks double mastectomy and finally dying of cancer. Why Snapper & Chris named their daughter Jennifer. I can remember coming and watching when Dorothy Green died on screen and all 4 of the Brooks’ girls was at her hospital bed. Made you cry! Peggy joining a cult, Jill marrying Stuart Brooks when Liz was in love with him, JoAnn dealing with weight and health long before weight being an issue like today, Suzanne gaslighting a drunk Mrs. C, Vanessa Prentiss w\her veil, a young stud arriving in the late ’70s as Paul and driving Mary & Carl crazy, Paul & Nikki keeping the free clinic open with both passing a VD to each one, Leslie & Lori, the original sister feud, Leslie having Lance’s child, Lori being a vicious bitch and wrote a scathing book on Leslie causing Leslie to have a breakdown. Having Brock around back then and being introduced as the hippie son of the town drunk, Greg having affair w\Gwen the nun, Snapper fathering a son (Chuckie) with Sally and in Bill fashion let it just sit and simmer and Chris never knew until years later. Paul & Greg fighting over April (Heather’s mother), the romance of Lance & Lori…biggest couple of the time and oh what a time it was watching John McCook & Jamie Lyn Bauer was great. My favorite Y&R couple of all time. Being in high school and couldn’t wait to see Lori & Lance. Y&R has been on fire the last 2-3 weeks…Just IMO. Everything is falling in place, with Josh’s stories and not tying up the hack’s storylines anymore. Log in to Reply al0792 February 15, 2013 OK, for all the folks that say Y&R sucks.. You have not been really paying attention to the show. The last two weeks Y&R has been on fire. it’s back to being a character driven show. if you still feel that show “sucks”. stop watching as you will never be happy!!!! It was excellent again, we are being spoiled right now and feels SOOOOOO good! NIKKI! I screamed! Everything was hitting the mark today with all the stories…and flow was superb. Phyllis & Summer today the their talk. I love this actress of Summer. She is holding her own in this story. Best line of today episode was Phyl & Summer talking about Jack… Phyllis spouting off “you don’t want to talk about your mother’s love life” Summer quipping back “I know my mother’s love life”….LMFAO! Jack & Nikki…enough said..sigh  I don’t mind Chelsea being pregnant again, it means Shadam isn’t going to be happy anytime soon. Victor’s on the Senator’s trail and Leslie…this is getting very good between Victor & Senator Wheeler each is powerful man with something on each other..FUN! I about fell out of my chair with Lily. Tyler telling her “she’s bossy” and sort of under CK’s breath “just like my mother”. It has been so long since Lily has mentioned Dru. A+ today  Log in to Reply richalan67 February 15, 2013 Ok, everybody cyber slap Stoney07 for that crack about not being born until ’89 lol I was a wee little lad but I remember Jill doing a tracheotomy on someone while talking to a dr on the phone. Did that really happen or have I completely made that up in my mind? Log in to Reply harlee490 February 15, 2013 richalan67 Yes Stuart Brooks with Brenda as Jill Log in to Reply acela February 15, 2013 harlee490, your comments brought back so many memories, been watching on & off since the beginning, pre VCR days, would have my mom take notes. Started watching steadily around 79, when Suzanne & Derrick were going at it & she tried to kill Katherine, & she thought she succeeded until Kay went to her own funeral, & than it was Kays’ turn for revenge. I will never forget the episode when Kay put tarantulas in Suzannes’ bed, & said TRAMP while she was hidden behind the drapes. Suzanne almost had a heart attack! Oh those were the good old days, & I am so happy, in my opinion, things have really improved. I hope Bill Bell would be proud. When Kay put tarantulas in Suzannes’ bed is was wonderful revenge! In Bill fashion he had Suzanne terrorizing Kay for a year. Vanessa my favorite psycho Bill created was that story and how she set up Lori for murder, and it was suicide :O …to drive a wedge in between Lance\Lori…most excellent!
