Days of Our Lives is Looking For a Special Prosecutor

In the Salem criminal justice system the people are represented by two separate, but equally ineffective groups.  The police, who are five steps behind, investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders, but seldom put anyone away for long, if at all.  I have to wonder if the incoming special prosecutor will be more successful than her predecessors?

According to Soap Opera Digest, Days of Our Lives is casting the recurring role of special prosecutor Melinda Trask.  The character is described “as tough, intelligent and confident. DAYS is seeking an experienced African American or Asian actress in the 35 to 50 year old range.”

I'm glad the show will be featuring some more diversity. Except for Cameron, it's been virtually monochromatic during the past few weeks.

Holy sh!t!!! An African-American or Asian-American woman on Days?? No! Really? Really?

By the way, has Days ever had an Asian woman in any decent role? I can't recall one. That's pretty sad.

VICTORIA ROWELL!

It would be great to see Amelia again. But Victoria would be a guaranteed game-changer for Days:

As a Y&R fan, I'd love to see her back as Dru; but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon. Of course, neither one is exactly within the specified age range.

And if Sony has a problem with Victoria we'll be seeing her on neither Days nor Y&R.

SA, I would agree with Rowell! Was never a big fan of hers on Y&R but her ballsy approach as an actress could be the perfect fit for a this role.

Amelia Marshall. Because it's Sony and they won't bring VR to its other soap.

I'm wondering more about which case this special prosecutor is for? Some say it's a lawyer (meaning EJ), but I'm wondering if it could be a policeman/woman (Hope, Rafe?). Hmmm.....

African-American OR Asian-American? Hmmm...when it comes to any thing other than Caucasian race, things seem interchangeable Wink

I'd imagine that this role will be minor but I would like to see a former daytime actress in the role just to see a familiar face. Amelia Marshall is fabulous. I've always liked Tracy Ross. Kelly Hu would fantastic but I doubt she would not return to daytime. Any GH viewers remember the Asian-American actress who had a bit part as Diane's associate a few months back (Vivian? Yvonne?) She had presence.

I thought Days would cast Lucas' ex-fiance Autumn with an Asian actress. It would be great if she shows up in Salem with a baby demanding millions of dollars from Lucas, and vowing revenge.

But I would also love to see a cute Asian lawyer. Melinda Trask, who changed her name from Melinda Tran (Vietnamese) for her career.

You're lead-in for this post was HILARIOUS and sooooooooooooooooooooooooo spot on!!!

I won't hold it against you if you use it to refer to the PCPD either or the judicial system in Port Charles! Everyone and their uncle is a criminal and those who are not know for certain the others are YET the PCPD and judges can't put anyone but the innocent behind bars!!!

Wouldn't it be amazing if on one of the remaining soaps or even on the redux soaps that a case was investigated and solved quickly and ACCURATELY!!! It can still be drama, but quick

As for diversity, I also wish that Lucas ex-fiance shows up in town. The place needs new blood and not the crap they have now.

@everyone: Another casting choice they could make would be Sheri Headley (ex-Mimi, AMC). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMV3yHr1Kzs

@david46208: That clip made me miss Livia & Tom!!! Mimi & Derek never did it for me, but I loved Livia & Tom both together and separate!

Still, I'd love to see Shari Headley or Tonya Pinkins on my screen again. Wink

Tonya Pinkins! Wonderfully talented actress. I think she won a Tony for her work on Broadway.

(In New York, that is the only award that counts. Smile )

African American or Asian? I wonder if that was the same casting call that resulted in Nick having a black wife named Chine Lee back in 2007?

I am not sure I understand why the gender or race of a temporary character in a prosecutor role is important....unless they are thinking of expanding the role past a temporary situation. Personally I would just be looking for a very good seasoned actor/actress who wants a job for a short run.
However I do like VR for the part or really any part! But wouldn't Susan Lucci make a splash! What is Justin Deas up to?

It's a recurring part, which is the current status of Wally Kurth and both of the Evans actresses. So it could turn out to be a bit more than temporary.
