Susan Lucci on All My Children Return: "I Just Don't Know The Answer Yet"

Will Susan Lucci reprise the legendary role of Erica Kane on Prospect Park's online version of All My Children? The soap diva stopped by The View today where the co-hosts, and special guest chatter Brooke Shields asked the million-dollar question.  According to La Lucci:

"I so hope that I can return. I want with all my heart to return to  All My Children. I just don't know the answer yet, but what I do know is that all of us are working so hard to make that happen. I really want to."

Check out Lucci's entire segment on The View after the jump!

I think Susan got mad at the cancelation, then moved on, and now has no interest in the show. She has other stuff making her happy. I dont believe she wants any part of it.

What she means to say is the offer doesn't contain enough zeros.

Coffee Junkie, yea you could be right. I watched her on the show and I felt she was different than what she was last year when she was hoping it would be picked up. My first impression was, she was done. I dont believe she cares about it anymore.

@Coffee_Junkie: She needs to remember who buttered her bread and allowed her to get an Emmy for not being the best actress in the world. But when your new show is gonna be on Lifetime not a network or better cable channel that does not spell good for the show or people's true interests in it. I'm just saying.

It would be nice to have Susan back for the buzz and name factor of Erica Kane but LBR Erica/Susan hasn't really drove story in years well not decent story and as much as I love Erica Kane, the show now has Martins, Brooke English, Chandlers, Miranda (although a new actress) Bianca on occasion and more. What I am saying is I think the show can make it without Erica.

I agree with the comment about the zeros. I think most know that. She has enough money at this point so it has to be more than enough to have to jump back. She is worth a bundle. She has all the other enterprises she is involved with where she slowly makes another fortune. It is what it is

Katiebug- I love Erica/Susan also. And I agree that the show can make it without any of the actors who dont/cant return. I have told myself long ago to keep an open mind with soaps cause actors come and go and we have to let them go to their good and embrace the new who come in. I have loved alot of re-casts. The show will be ok. There will be a new Kendall, Jake, Amanda etc and we will love them all.

I know a job is a job and money is money, but no one is going to get wealthy off the web so the hoping for the same ABC pay has to be off the table. When someone wants to do something they make it work. GA, NY, and CT are in the same time zone.

I do hope that she can at least appear in the first episode. Susan Lucci is still the face of daytime and the more press the launch can get the better. It's a great way to give thanks to the show that made her a star. Who knows, maybe Erica Kane did become a star finally and is going to appear on a show called Devious Maids. Wasn't that why she could not commit to Jackson at the end because she was going to Hollywood? Let's do some cross promotion.

I am in the camp that AMC doesn't need Erica Kane to survive, especially if that first episode can have the line: I am Miranda Montgomery. Or go the Kardashian route and forget the Montgomery (Jenner) and go with the name brand. I'll miss the alliteration, but Miranda Kane works for me.

To me....if money isn't a factor...then scheduling seems to be the hold up. I would imagine one of the few people Susan would want to hurt is Agnes and I don't think she would turn her down to return.

She doesn't seem over it...if you watch her eyes there's still a spark when she says "Erica Kane" and I think she's willing...

In other words: They ain't offering her enough money and she has other more lucrative deals in the works.

I dont' blame Mrs. Lucci. We all ASSUME she's got more money than God, but none of us knows what her finances are like. She might not be as financially well off as we think she is, so I am not in any rush to judge her.

All I know is they betta NOT recast her.......... Crazy Crazy Crazy Crazy

I think she will return, but I am not sold it will be will be as a regular cast member..perhaps as a special guest star. She could weave in and out of the show. It is great that she has found work elsewhere..cannot blame her for that.

I think a lot of what we are seeing now with the smaller cast not returning to AMC but a larger one returning to OLTL is more about the quality of both shows prior to cancelation, the talent available and just basically a desire to move on from one genre to another.

Also, a big part would be just the idea of whether or not the programs online succeed and what the quality of them with look like.

When OLTL was canceled, although not my favorite or even considered the best soap on air at the time, it was still better by leaps and bounds to All my Children. It can be hard for an actor to be part of something that failed to return and see it succeed... if it does. (Insert WHEN if you like instead of IF)

But I will say this, as much as I love Susan Lucci and Michael Knight as well as some of the other cast not returning, this could be a great thing for AMC because so many characters... if new... will have new history and a load more secrets to delve into that having the entire old cast back would only slow it down from being new and fresh take on the old concept.

It will be interesting to see how OLTL deals with the gap in time and the number of originals returning with their story without it feeling like the same
