Clearly Days realized that when they got the actor to play Eric that they had to pair him with Nicole and create a gross THORNBIRDS type story with him as the Catholic Priest who gives into the sin of lust and Nicole as the bad girl turned good who can't help herself.

(Why people think it's OK to constantly portray Catholics as weak is beyond me... and I'm not a bible belter!!)

So with Nicole out of the picture and Jennifer still in love with Dr McBORING, Daniel they had to bring someone on. WHY NOT CHLOE. The scripts are already written for Nicole so let's just scribble out Nicole and throw in CHLOE.

ANd Jennifer mourned the death of her childhood goldfish longer than for Jack the love of her life.

THere is a reason Days is in the bottom of the ratings and for good reason. Watch any day and there are 60 minutes of reasons!

I am so amused at how seriously the Days writers expect us to take this ridiculous "couple." They're middle-aged and have been dating for months but haven't had sex. They fight with the emotional insight of teenagers, however--how's that for range? Easily the weakest link on this show. Fire Fundie Reeves and the guy with the hairy chest and dig into the show's history for characters that viewers may actually care to watch.

I actually do not see the Eric/Nicole story as being any kind of commentary on Roman Catholicism AT ALL. And this is from someone who was so fully into the Church that he actually began seminary training before he saw the light.

Now, as for the Jennifer/Daniel/Chloe triangle: It is beyond tiresome. Despite my disagreement with Missy Reeves' religious and political views, I was able to embrace her as a vital part of the show's history. NO MORE! She brings nothing to the part of Jennifer. She and/or the character are dull, unexciting, and a downright chore to watch. The same goes double for Shawn Christian/Daniel.

It is both sad and weird that when we finally see Nadia Bjorlin doing some pretty decent acting, it seems to have been inspired by an extremely trite story.

My commentary was less on Catholicism and more on Catholics. Eric chose to become a priest so he made a vow to "god" to forego earthly/ sexual intimacy... Celibacy/chastity. In this story with Nicole he will forget that vow and have sex. Yes it's a soap and a drama but can't someone stay celibate to a vow to god?!! Can you imagine if they had a Hasidic Jew do something against their religion/calling on a soap opera? Or a baptist priest dating Will?!!

Don't worry, I'm not a bible belter. Just posing a comment/question.

As for the rest, days needs a divine intervention to get this train wreck right.

While it's inarguably the weakest storyline on the show, the whole Daniel/Jen/Chloe triangle doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would(and it's far less worse now that Chloe has taken Nicole's spot in the triangle; THAT threesome was god awful). And Nadia Bjorlin seems to be having a blast as a bitch on wheels. Of course, NB being the most inspired performer in any storyline, mediocre or otherwise, could also be a portent to the impending apocalypse Big smile .

A soap Armageddon, perhaps? Big smile

pjc722, thanks for clarifying.

I love your comments, even when I disagree with them. For instance, I don't think the show is doing that badly storytelling-wise, even with the Jennifer/Daniel/Chloe storyline.

As part of that story, they've done something really smart by including the character of Chloe's sidekick, Anne, whose hatred of Jennifer seems almost pathological. She serves as a proxy for that segment of the audience that can't stand Melissa Reeves and Jennifer.

I hope Chloe KICKS Jennifer's ass and in the middle of Horton Square, I hate this story but Chloe has been fun to watch Wink

I know I'm complete minority here but I like the Nicole\Eric and "Thornbirds" story. I like the chemistry going on between both actors. GV has always been sexy.

I loved the talk yesterday between Marlena & Abe yesterday. Didn't Eileen look hot as hell in that tight blue dress. Days whole wardrobe budget is going on Eileen's Kristin Wink

Of course she WON'T! What could ever separate Dannifer? Ugh.

Besides, if Nicole couldn't, then Chloe most certainly can't.

This is again so mind-boggling. WHY is NBC making promos out of THIS storyline, when they have the Kristen and the Will storyline? Why do they insist on digging their own grave?

Btw, IMO the reason why the "Thornbirds" angle on Eric/Nicole isn't working, is because first of all, Nicole is not some innocent virginal girl (see: Abigail) who has a torrid affair with a priest. That's really not such a big deal on Nicole's standards. Second, Eric & Nicole already have a history. They were in love once upon a time, in fact Eric was Nicole's great love. So that's why I'm finding the teenage avoiding a little hard to swallow. I would much rather they would now concentrate on Eric's dreams and on wth happened when he was in Congo. Nicole would help him with his psyche unlocking and that way they could fall in love again.

LOL damn I should've jumped on that one. Very clever Smile .

Gotta agree with you about the show in general. Even though this storyline isn't my favorite--and, again, I still find parts of it entertaining, such as Chloe's scheming and Anne's near-supernatural hatred for Jen--I have to say the rest of the show is still doing it for me big time(the Will/Sonny/Nick scenes from yesterday were insane).

I don't mind the "Dan-Chloe-Jennifer" triangle, but Jennifer role is flat. I notice that she has only 1 expression in all scenes, all the same -whether it is worried, sad, happy, angry, jealous, suprise, etc. FLAT. Try acting school first, practice, then come back. . Seriously.

Nadia Bjorlin is simply stunning. Her Chloe would be irresistible to any straight man. That Daniel (Shawn Christian) would reject her for that frying pan-faced Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) is just incredulous. Come on, writers. Daniel deserves better than Jennifer "Prairie Woman" Horton.

I am rooting for Chloe. Chicken Little Horton and Daniel "The Narcolepsy Doctor" have no chemistry together, and if you figure Abby, who is a self-righteous little twit that needs to be worrying about who SHE is gonna bang, not who her mother is banging, then you have a recipe for total boredom.

I am not a Nadia Bjorlin fan, a fact that I have never been shy about expressing in the past, but she does seem to be doing a DECENT job playing a bitch. I still think she's tremendously flat and boring as an actress.

And I agree, Melissa Reeves is simply not needed without Jack Devereaux/Matthew Ashford!!
