General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

comments

The doctor informs Olivia and Liz that Steve’s surgery was touch and go for a while, but he pulled through just fine. Steve is in recovery, and the prognosis is good.  Liz hugs AJ and thanks him for being there for her. Dante visits the hospital to tell everyone Heather turned herself in, and resides in police custody.

Lucy declares Caleb won’t hurt anyone anymore, and she plans to shoot him in the heart with her bow and arrow.  The two argue and Lucy fires, but Caleb catches the arrow in mid air.  He grabs for her with the intent to kill her, but John finally manages to untie himself before Caleb can harm Lucy. The two men fight over the arrow.

Caleb is stabbed in the heart with the arrow and drops to the ground.  Lucy asks if he’s dead, and John doesn’t find a pulse.  John thanks Sam for distracting Caleb long enough for him to prevail.  John knows Sam saved his life.  Lucy asks if they believe her vampire story now.  John pulls the fangs out of Caleb’s mouth, and gives them to Lucy.  He believes Caleb simply lost his mind when his wife died.  John takes Sam out to safety, but Lucy wants to stay behind.

Duke goes to Michael to give him the jar of relish, and explains how he managed to get it from Tracy.  Michael calls AJ to meet him at the apartment.

Tracy thinks Monica is spying on her, so she can get her hands on the key.  Monica blames Tracy for the downfall of ELQ.  Tracy knows she can figure out the relish recipe, and mass-produce it.  When Tracy discovers the relish is missing, she claims AJ stole it.  Monica defends AJ, and Tracy remembers the only other person in the house was Duke.  Tracy doesn’t believe Duke had anything to do with stealing the relish.  Monica doesn’t like seeing Tracy torture herself, and advises her to admit defeat.

Rafe sees ghost Alison, and asks her if Caleb is his father.  Alison admits he is, but promises Rafe is nothing like Caleb. She swears he is not alone, and fades away.

Olivia sits by Steve’s bedside and prays for his recovery.  He wakes up, and she thanks him for saving her life. Steve says he has a lot to live for.  Liz stops by and tells him she loves him. She doesn’t know what she would have done without him.   Liz also tells Steve she had a friend to lean on during his surgery.

Duke shows AJ the jar of relish, and asks if he wants it analyzed.  Starr offers her science services, claiming she knows how to analyze a sample.  The men agree, and AJ warns Duke to keep their business relationship a secret.

Dante promises Olivia that Heather is in her cell.  Olivia talks about her visions, and how she can’t prevent them from happening. She points out they’ve all come true, except the dog one.  Dante reminds her the dog one did come true, because he appeared to Maxie.

Steve promises Olivia he’ll take her visions seriously from now on.  Olivia wants to be his wife sooner rather than later, and suggests they get married right away.

AJ calls Liz, and apologizes for leaving.  She tells him Steve is awake and talking. She also thanks him for his support.

Tracy accuses AJ of stealing the relish, but AJ denies taking it.

Sam is reunited with Danny, and thanks Rafe for taking care of him.  Rafe asks about Caleb, and John informs the young teen Caleb is dead.

Lucy rants about not understanding what's just happened. She wonders why Caleb would need the fake teeth.  Lucy still thinks the ring is important and tries to remove it, but can’t.  She decides she’s had enough, and won’t spend one more day of her life thinking of vampires.  She declares her time as a vampire slayer is finished.  When she leaves, Caleb’s ring glows.

Yeah, lets not have a real lab analyze the relish, lets have the lounge singer/nightclub owner, who's taking a couple of science classes do it.

Does Tracy not keep tabs of what's going on at ELQ while AJ's in charge? Wouldn't she have known he hired Duke as an accounting something or other? Seems rather remiss of her.

Please tell me the vampire/not vampire story is over. I swear if the police show up and Caleb's body is gone, I'm going to hurt someone.

Where is the rest of the hospital staff? One of their own is stabbed and undergoing life and death surgery and no one is there? Patrick? Epiphany? ever annoying Sabrina? Felix? Both stories, Steve's stabbing and Caleb wackadoo, seemed to be so self contained.

Lynn Herring I love you and don't hold you responsible for what these terrible writers did to you. I thought Guza was guilty of character assassination after he trashed my Holly Scorpio, but what Re-ron has done to Lucy is just as tragic. You bring a great character back for this crap??!?! Hopefully it is over.

Would it kill the writers to have Liz mention Audrey since she lives in town? Weird that Steve didn't reference his father or Sarah as far as his family is concerned. A sentence or two tying family members not on screen would make sense.

Perkie, I thought the same thing about Starr. The girl didn't even go to college as far as I know and her last 2 years of high school were taken up raising her daughter. If Pickle-Lila only has 1 remaining jar it wouldn't make sense that AJ and Michael would trust her to analyze it.

I really do my utmost to be polite with regard to just about every actor or actress on any soap. Lord knows having been a dancer in a company, criticism about ones performance is part of the job. But I am so fed up with the character of Starr and by extension KA. I recall thinking at the beginning of her time "Okay she's young. She'll settle in and will definitely have an advantage by observing people like JE, JMB, DZ, NLG, AG, RH, BB etc." Honestly, I'm to where I'm thinking even LM is doing a better job when she's been on, who has always been, for me, one step forward, two steps back, performance wise. And don't get me started on my resentment of the amount of air time and "butting in" to just about every storyline that she's now in. It's like she and her character are parasitic. I half expected to see her don a lab coat, safety goggles, and pick up a microphone and become some sort of singing food inspector who has a side job of owning a nightclub. Stare Sorry, I'm a little cranky, right now.

I did like the scenes with Olivia and Liz at Steve's bedside. I've always enjoyed RH and SR's brother/sister vibe. Very believable and natural. LLo has always gone above and beyond the material she's had to perform. JE is always wonderful even when called upon to deliver ridiculously pasted together and implausible plot points regarding ELQ. And yeah, where is Epiphany, Patrick, Felix, even Britt? Don't tell me all of them have the same days off? Sigh.... Innocent

The vampire story hasn't bothered me but the past few episodes were really annoying and B-movie level bad in terms of writing and acting. Easton and Monaco do have chemistry. Herring has been done quite the disservice as Lucy has been grating.

I am happy that Steven Lars survived the stabbing at least for Liz's sake. I am surprised that between yesterday's episode and today's that she has not mentioned Jake (or Emily.) The writers have really isolated characters over the years with no little or no mention of family/friends. Anyway, the Liz/Steve scenes were well-done and kudos to Rebecca Herbst and Scott Reeves (who I never commend.)

I am not sure I like him in the ELQ story as AJ's lackey. Perhaps Duke and Tracy will be chemistry-tested?

Michael & Starr are obnoxious. If Starr is such a science whiz, perhaps the writers should have her drop the nightclub/singing thing and pursue her degree...in another city...far away...offscreen Wink

If memory serves correctly, while Tracy is no saint, AJ stated his intentions to oust Tracy from CEO as soon as Edward died, even forming alliances with Skye, Michael and trying to win over Sam. AJ & Tracy have both behaved unreasonably. I am SO tired of hearing Tracy say: relish!!! Glad there is a return to ELQ but wish for a better story about business dealings.

Funny how fresh and fabulous Monica's makeup was considering she was ready for bed! THAT much lipstick at that hour? Love that Jane Elliot has no problem going makeup free.

That Starrfish...she's genius, aint she? Good to know! Big smile Wink

Hopefully, Starr screws up and the relish tastes awful. Or Duke has his own plans for the relish. Or Tracy rummages through Lila's things and finds the original recipe. Something. Give us a little mystery here.

Honestly?! Starr is going to analyze the chemical make up of a jar of relish?! That's just ridiculous. You don't need a scientist... especially one that hasn't seen a lab in ... well, since senior year of high school while you were 8 months pregnant!

What I don't get is that all Tracey has to do is state that HER FATHER gave her the jar with the instructions that it was hers (and whatever blah blah blah). He didn't give it to AJ. So, basically in a nut shell, Duke stole it from Tracey, AJ is stealing to produce it, and Starr is an accomplice.

AGAIN, can someone tell me why we watch GH when a jar of relish is the lead story?!!!

Perkie, there is no doubt in my mind that when the police come to retrieve Steven Clay's body, it will be gone. It was the first thing I thought of as Lucy was walking away.

I liked how Lucy went through the process of deciding she is done with vampires. I think she was speaking for much of the audience who want her to be down with them too. Let's get Lucy back into some fabulous clothes snarking it up with Monica, Tracy and Scott and hanging out with hubby Doc and friends Mac and Felicia.

So happy to see Monica. Wish she could have her on a bit more often - actually a lot more often. She brings a depth to the Q scenes, to any scene, that she is in. I was watching a youtube clib a while back with Monica and AJ (Sean Kanan) during her breast cancer storyline. There was so much love and devotion between those two characters. Would really like to see it more. And of course the relationship between Monica and Tracey is magic. Even though I do agree with someone above who pointed out that Tracey is getting a little "yelley". A lot of screaming ... maybe dial it down a notch.

Re: Pickle-Lila ... I sometimes break out laughing at the absurdity of it all. Everyone talking about a bottle of relish like it's the Ice Princess or something! Still, I love it, because it honors GH history, and we get to see the beautiful Anna Lee on the relish bottle!

As far as the missing hospital staff, looks like a bunch of them show up tomorrow. However, I did not see any mention of Luke, Laura, or Scotty. It's been a week since they were on. Very strange in my opinion.

Can we please be done with this STUPID vampire crap??? The plot has trashed Lucy and Allyson who were the only redeeming parts of Port Charles.

Sam's hands were not even tied. I blame Kelly Monaco for not concealing the looseness of the rope. Michael Easton is not a good actor. They give him a dual role. Silliness!!

Monica and Tracy are always win together. Olivia and Liz are awesomeness. I like Star. I may be the only one and even I had a WTF moment when she suddenly became a scientist. Why can't they just let Star and Michael be young and away from ELQ? The relish business is GH history and I like the use of the vets as well as seeing Lila on that jar. But, Tracy was given that jar. I don't think the recipe can be used without her permission. Having said that, it was mass produced in the USA. Wouldn't the ingredients be on the jar? At the plant? On file with the FDA? In a recipe box in the Q kitchen? Hey, I am willing to ignore some silly plot points on occasion but I do not like when Tracy is made to look stupid. AJ should not best her. I wish AJ would just walk away from ELQ and build his own company. He could come back at Tracy and ELQ on more equal footing.

Still liking Rafe and his ghost Mom. I wish Erin Hershey would come back as Lulu.

Where is Laura? Scott?

The show was disjointed between the hospital which was pure goodness, the catacombs which were crap, and the mishmosh of the relish.

Starr needs to pick a primary career and stick with it. Liz wanted to be an artist, but ended up becoming a nurse to support Cam and we still see her on occasion at her art studio. Starr was into reptiles and crap when she was on OLTL, until someone decided to mold her into the next singing Blair Cramer.

Of course Caleb/Stepen Clay is not dead.

Yes, Liz should have called Audrey unless she was afraid that the woman might have a heart attack after dealing with Jake's death. I'm shocked that RC did not kill off Steven Lars, since he's been on a killing spree.

Oh, I forgot to mention how much I've enjoyed Allison over the last few weeks. It's too bad that RC killed off Allison when she has history on the show and would have fit in nicely at the hospital instead of Britt, Sabrina and Felix.

I just watched GH today. I don't watch it on a regular basis, but I have to say, what a bunch of pathetic acting. It was laughably bad. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Loved Allison and her scenes with her son. So great!

So I guess this means that the last half of "Port Charles" was basically never real? Gotta say, that's kind of a slap in the face to the "PC" fans out there...there are still a lot of questions, however...I don't know. I guess I just felt a little let down by what seems to be the end of the story.

You're not crazy. The vampire story was fun (and the resemblance to a B-movie was deliberate and added to my enjoyment).

The people who complain about every twist and turn are just more vocal than those of us who enjoy the ride. And apparently taking their cues from vampires, they seem to delight in sucking the life out of every moment of every show.

TV Gord, thanks for the comment! You made my day. Probably doesn't make my day sound too spectacular. But it's nice to know I'm not alone in my thinking.

I'll just throw this out there and see if anyone has a thought. I am liking the Quiz pairing (as I guess we're calling AJ and Liz). But I think I might be liking it for the simple fact that we get to see Liz and AJ. I'm not sure I feel a lot of heat between them, they kind of seem like buddies -- of course, buddies often have sex. Smile

So I have another idea for AJ.

Am I completely off the wall, or would an AJ and Lucy pairing be hot?!? I know a lot of people love Doc and Lucy to death, but it just seemed to me there was some definite chemistry between AJ and Lucy when Lucy came back and before she went vampire hunting. I remember Monica telling Alice that Lucy was really only dangerous when there was a man with money around ... which made me think A.J.!

Think of how mad this would drive Monica! AJ would have to hide it from his mother because he knows how upset she would be. Lucy would have had BOTH Monica's husband, Alan, and her son!!! And I'm sure Tracey would be beside herself for one reason or another.

Of course, this would leave poor Liz alone again ... just when things were looking up. Sad

I've had some minor quibbles about other stuff in the last couple of days, but the vamper stuff wasn't bad. If you look at as an homage & just enjoy the camp, the humor and the nods to all the history, it was a lot of fun.
Plus, I think I had as much or more fun reading all the history that people like J. Benard Jones, for instance, brought to the board.

We complain because the show we love is spinning out of control again. This is not the way to attract new viewers and that is what GH needs, NEW OR RETURNING VIEWERS!

I enjoyed the "vampire" excursion, but it's nice to see it wrapped up in a tidy bow with Thursday's show. I'm relieved (but not surprised) to find out that J. Bernard was right. There never were vampires in this storyline, but it was left ambiguous enough so that the fans of Port Charles who want to believe still can.

I'm curious to see where they go with Steve now that he seems to have survived (for now). We know Scott Reeves is gone, so is he going to take an unexpected turn for the worst? Will he lapse into a coma and revive in a few weeks or months with a new actor in the role?

I had a good chuckle over A.J. pinning his company's future on Starrfish The Science Dish. He's not overly burdened with brains, is he? It's too bad that they seem to be making Tracy as similarly idiotic. I was kind of hoping her hidden jar of Pickle Lila would be a decoy and that she had the real contents squirreled away in a hidden bar fridge in her bedroom. I have two hopes for this storyline. One is that I hope it has a big payoff, and the other is that I hope The Soup continues to follow the storyline in their own hysterical style.

I'm curious to see how they write out John and Starr. I think they should be off the show anytime now. The way I'd like to see them go is that they both get mysterious phone calls that they have to return to Llanview, and that it leads to the revelation that Victor is still alive.

Lucy should know that a vampire doesn't have a pulse. When John said he couldn't find a pulse Lucy should have pointed out that doesn't mean Caleb is dead. And Lucy obviously wasn't trained as a slayer by Giles. Buffy would have taken Caleb down in a second without all the talking.

I was thinking the same thing while watching yesterday! It makes sense for John to look for a pulse, not find one, and say Caleb's dead, because he never believed Caleb was a vampire. But seriously, Lucy? She should know better.

BTW, is GH back on schedule and no longer behind? Or is today's episode going to be yesterday's episode?

I'm enjoying the show, my only complaint though? It's a little early but if Liz and AJ are going to be a couple, I'm going to need for them to talk about the elephant in the room -- Jason. I thought maybe that's where they were leading with AJ's panic attacks, they were a symptom of not being good enough and always being the black sheep. C'mon, Liz had a child by Jason and was a fairly significant relationship for Liz, hopefully it will be addressed. Also, another nitpick --- When Laura visited Liz, no mention of Jake, no I'm sorry about what happened etc, just felt odd.

So vampires have no pulse and use false teeth..this is a soap half the show has never had a pulse but came back (see AJ) doesn't make them vampires

Love the Port Chuck intergration

Love that I have Liz on my screen again

Laughed when they gave the relish to Starr but I will ride this out like I do everything else

Why blame Cartini for making Lucy a shell of herself when she was written as a vampire slayer by the writers of Port Charles....Cartini is just working around that

@ Ravennite: I always appreciate your comments. My only pushback is regarding Lucy's characterization. While I did not mind the brief excursion into the history of PC, I find that RC has ignored whole pieces of history so why spend so much time on Lucy as Vampire Slayer? I'd rather Lucy had dillusions of that time and her spend time with Kevin, Felicia, Mac, and The Quartermaines. She should be the driving force of the Nurses' Ball. If had to wade through PC's history to get to Lucy and her GH history_ at least the PC stuff was brief. I just don't think it was satisfying enough to revisit or to kill Alison Barrington (or to focus on for February Sweeps.)

Can't wait to see Lucy with Scott!!! Now that's history being honored! Wink
