HomeTVThe Young and The RestlessEx-General Hospital Star Scott Reeves on Young and Restless Return: “I Would Definitely Consider It” Jamey Giddens March 4, 2013 The Young and The Restless 54 Comments Steven Lars Webber, M.D. may not have been fatally shish kabobed by his mama on General Hospital, but Scott Reeves' previous soap character, randy cosmetics exec Ryan McNeil, died at the altar on The Young and the Restless way back in 2001. Instead of Ryan being able to successfully re-marry heiress Victoria Newman (then Heather Tom), his unstable ex, Tricia Dennison (Sabryn Genet) busted a life-draining cap in that ass. That little factoid hasn't stopped chatter about Reeves potentially returning to Y&R, where his BFF Steve Burton now appears as Dylan McAvoy. In the March 18 issue of ABC Soaps In Depth, Reeves responded to the magazine's inquiry about a possible Genoa City return trip, saying: "I would definitely consider it." Hmm…it would be a hard sell to explain why anyone would fake Ryan's death. I mean, the only enemies he stacked up during his decade or so in Genoa City were all the wives he cheated on! I guess Victoria's (Amelia Heinle) nefarious daddy, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) coulda snatched Ryan up to prevent him from marrying his beloved daughter again? Or, perhaps Victor could hire a Ryan lookalike to bust up Victoria's marriage to Billy (Billy Miller)? Stranger things have happened on a soap! Would you want to see Reeves return to The Young and the Restless as Ryan McNeil, or some new character all together? Sound off in the comments, but before you do, re-watch Tricia's nutty-as-a-fruitcake self ice Ry-Ry below! 54 Responses Marland Fan March 4, 2013 Duh! Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 March 4, 2013 They can bring Ryan back, but they shouldn’t put him back with Victoria. Amelia Heinle and Scott Reeves probably wouldn’t have much chemistry. Amelia needs a VIBRANT leading man, and Reeves, while I liked him as Ryan and like him as an actor, has always been quite vanilla and dullsville!!! Log in to Reply Coffee_Junkie March 4, 2013 Of course he says that now. He’s fishing for WORK. Ryan McNeil is dead and needs to stay dead. The cast of Y&R is already over bloated. Log in to Reply soapbaby March 4, 2013 I loved that scene. Sabryn Genet would be welcome but I never want to see Scott Reeves return to Y&R. He was never a strong actor but terrible these past few years on GH. Both Scott and Missy Reeves should retire in Tennessee as far as I am concerned. She’s terrible on DAYS. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 4, 2013 NO. Ryan should stay dead. Back-from-the-dead stories were Maria’s thing. If they’re going to do one of those, it should be either an Abbott or Dru. Besides, I don’t even see how he would fit in with the direction of the show right now. Isn’t there a church somewhere he can go and be pastor of? Log in to Reply stoney07 March 4, 2013 Wasn’t there a picture of Sabryn Genet tweeted by Michael Muhney while she was on set???? Or was that a dream? There were a bunch of people talking about it a couple of weeks ago… Log in to Reply harlee490 March 4, 2013 No we don’t need Ryan on canvas right now, I don’t want him ….B&B is the one that needs Scott as a new character to play off Heather What was Katie’s first boyfriend’s name Rocco or Rocky…he was a singer\entertainment..perfect fit. Log in to Reply Yoryla March 4, 2013 Well I bet Scott Reeves wants back. He’s now unemployed, and his BFF Steve is there. But the person who REALLY should get back in there is Tricia Dennison McNeil! Damn, she was nutty! And Sabryn Genet acted her ass off playing her! Loved it. This would be a perfect time to bring her back (even I would have to start watching again). Villy has been happy for quite some time without interference, and crazy Trish could get back in the game to have her ultimate revenge on “Miss Vicky”. Even better, she could do a “Kristen DiMera” and get released from the psychiatric hospital after years and years of therapy and good behaviour. In a way that the viewers nor the denizens of GC would be able to tell whether it’s real or not (of course it wouldn’t be). I say bring on Tricia!!! Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 March 4, 2013 SoapArmaggedon– DEAD at you suggesting that he go be the pastor at a church! Shame on you, and whoever has to be in his congregation. lol. NO writer could keep me from falling to sleep. If the role of Victoria would still be played by Heather Tom, I’d say go for it … but no Ryan’s dead and should stay dead. NO meetings for your buddy, Steve! Log in to Reply Restless Fan March 4, 2013 The only character that I would want to see come back from the dead would be Drucilla (and given the friction between VR and Sony I know will never happen). I would much rather see him on B&B opposite Heather Tom. They had a natural chemistry. Besides nowadays Bill seems to be preoccupied with either stroking Brooke’s ego or worrying about his son’s love life. I would think Katie would need a little “attention”. Maybe in the form of a new love interest? Also this way, Scott Reeves can still see his buddy Steve Burton since the shows tape across the hall from each other. Log in to Reply pjc722 March 5, 2013 OH PLEASE NO! His acting on GH was so one dimensional and I could list off two handfuls of people I would love to see be brought back from the dead!!! Drucilla is one of them. This show needs her spunk and sass and determination! Diane Jenkins is another! We need a BITCH. Cole… that would add a great dimension to Victoria and Billy’s union. Ryan wouldn’t really bring much in my books. Log in to Reply tedew March 5, 2013 alstonboy4315 … good on you for your Chick-Fil-A comment re Scott Reeves. Scott Reeves could come back. He is (or maybe was) a rather cute little pocket fellow but like so many soap “studs” he is also probably a god fearing homophobic fundamentalist. Any any rate, he could return as another character. God knows it has been done before on Y&R. Log in to Reply kbirdusa March 5, 2013 [quote=alstonboy4315]DEAD at you suggesting that he go be the pastor at a church! What if Scott were Jewish, and you said, “Isn’t there some temple somewhere he could go be the rabbi of?” Anti-Christian bigotry is no more acceptable than any other kind. Be less hateful. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 March 5, 2013 Kbirdusa– My comments were NOT “Anti-Christian”!! Please don’t twist my words. I have no problem with Christians AT ALL. I do have a problem with Scott Reeves, who supports Chick-Fil-A, an organization that supports homophobia. What I was essentially saying is that I would not want SCOTT REEVES to be my pastor if I were in a church. I love Jesus and I go to church occasionally…….not as much as I should, but that’s beside the point! And I have no idea where your “rabbi”/Jewish statements are coming from, so I won’t even dignify those with a response. I am not hateful, nor am I a bigot. Now that we’ve gotten this bit of unpleasantness out of the way, let’s get back to SOAPS and stop throwing baseless accusations around and insulting people we’ve never met before…… Happy posting and have a great day!!! It was Reeves who wanted Ryan to be killed off, and killed off he was, so he should have to accept his choices in life. But that doesnt mean that somehow Tricia Dennison couldnt make a return 2-year stint or something. That would be so utterly fantastic in every way. Now back to political talk. I dont see why the whole Chik-Fil-A thing has to be brought up again. Just because Melissa Reeves brought up a certain point of view doesnt mean that she’s bigoted, or even has strong views about gay or lesbians. But she did tweet about the issue knowing that DAYS probably has a large gay following, so she may have wanted to consider that fact. You dont see me talking about abortion at the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting. Log in to Reply ANGELWENDY15 March 5, 2013 It just might happen. Log in to Reply ANGELWENDY15 March 5, 2013 Sorry, I meant Scott Reeves. He played the character of Steve on GH. Log in to Reply Yoryla March 5, 2013 Scott Reeves AND his wife should really just exit daytime altogether. Their “acting” brings absolutely nothing to the table, and the obvious homophobic views they SHARE do not have a place on daytime, sorry. Missy Reeves blew it when she made those comments. She should just accept that, and exit stage left. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 5, 2013 Maybe they could create a gay role for him. Mr. Cathy was speaking to a baptist publication and the trolls at media matters just had to dig his comments out and make a big fuss over it hhmmmmm why? Because this is what they do, who outside of the SBC EVER would read that publication? It was only to besmirch, what will be as obvious as the nose on your face a biblical worldview. Which duh would would be one man and one woman married for life, and that any form of sex outside of that is considered sin. Remember this man made his comments to a religious organizations newspaper to be distributed to MEMBERS of the SBC churches, ONLY members of SBC churches receive the publication, PERIOD. Yes, it is also on their website, but as a general rule why would ANYONE else outside of the SBC even go there? No one outside of the SBC would have read it if there wasn’t a bunch of paid political hacks trolling the internet with nothing better to do. The chick fil a issue is much deeper than a gay marriage issue and its this, the man is not being afforded the right to HIS opinion which would be article one of the US constitution. The problem in this country anymore is: NO ONE is allowed an opinion outside of what the PC crowd says it should be and then they find ways to besmirch those opinions, there is no healthy debate anymore, it just goes into you are wrong followed by name calling and in general nastiness. I mean really you don’t see me stopping in Lancaster county PA and telling the Amish that how they are living their lives is wrong and they have no right to their beliefs and opinions and that they suck because of it. Log in to Reply stoney07 March 5, 2013 As far as Scott and Melissa Reeve’s “homophobia” I don’t necessarily see where it matters as far as their daytime careers are concerned. There are plenty of different types of people in daytime, just as there are in the world. And besides, I still eat at Chik-Fil-A. Does that make me a homophobe? I’m almost sure I stopped by for a cookies and cream shake or two during the whole “anti-gay” thing…and I had absolutely no agenda behind it besides getting my craving fulfilled. Now with that being said, I personally don’t think either of these two are necessarily homophobic. I think they have their BELIEFS…but just because you believe in God and you believe certain aspects of the bible doesn’t make you homophobic. There are a lot of people who don’t agree with homosexuality that are NOT homophobes. But back to Y&R…Scott Reeves’ place on the show is just about gone, unless they bring him on and pair him with someone else. I’m almost positive he can’t create what he had with Heather Tom with Amelia Heinle. I’m not bashing her, I just think AH’s acting choices are different than HT’s….they play two totally different Victorias. I hope that picture of Sabryn Genet was a bit of foreshadowing. And if they DO bring her back, I’d love to see her go after Billy. Or maybe Adam, since Adam probably would have no idea who she is. But he’s already got enough going on with his life. Ryan COULD possibly come back with Tricia (if she does in fact return), but I don’t see how they’d utilize him. Maybe they could bring back Nina…but I’m almost positive they have no interest in doing that either…though it may be interesting… Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 5, 2013 Love Media Matters. We need a lot more of the work they do. A biblical worldview? If you wear polyester blends, not only are you committing a crime against fashion, it’s also a sin. That’s in the Bible. Keep taking it literally if you want, but don’t make silly arguments about people telling you what to think. That’s what you’re doing. Log in to Reply Ravennite613 March 5, 2013 ^^^^ Stoney just everything in your post was full of WIN  Log in to Reply noway March 5, 2013 Stoney you are correct on all points. At least you can get cookies and cream year round, all I want is a peach milkshake. Bringing him back after watching him be shot at point blank range would be ridiculous. That shooting was as shocking as when they killed off Nate on Burn Notice. Ryan needs to stay dead we all mourned with Victoria, what a fantastic job HT did!!!!! It would be like when they brought Hunter Tylo back from the dead the SECOND time. As much as I like her, the character needed to stay dead. Log in to Reply thecourt99 March 5, 2013 Ryan and Victoria would be a good idea to shake up Villy…if only HT was still in the role. Outside of that, there is no reason. I mean, Nina’s no longer there, right? He could go to B&B and keep Katie company while Bill is lusting over Brooke. Log in to Reply hey mon March 5, 2013 Wow noway, I had no idea that CEO Cathy was only talking to the Baptists. That kind of makes it a bit different of a matter. As a Roman Catholic, who has relatives who are Orthodox, I expect Church leaders to speak in a certain way. And it is up to us to believe them in faith about their interpretation of The Bible, or to reject it. It kind of really shows this Chik-Fil-A issue to be in the light of a freedom of religion issue, which I am for. But I don’t think that gays or lesbians should be discriminated against, but I also dont feel it’s an absolute civil right. We thrashed this thing totally out last Fall when Greg R got involved in the fight, so let’s not revisit the issue. Back to Y&R. Keep Ryan McNeil dead. He was shot, he died, we saw him buried. Tricia didn’t shoot Ryan’s twin, Caleb, or anything like that, either. Would love to hear the elaboration on that one. Listen, i don’t really care if Scott and Melissa Reeves are bible thumping gay haters or not, but i’m sure they’ve never had to deal with being treated as second class citizens. All i do know is that they both SUCK as actors. Missy was soooo friggin LAME-O grieving the death of her 20+ year on-screen acting partner, as Days killed Jack for the upteenth time, she phoned it in from another CONTINENT. So for that alone she deserves some hatred. Well, for that and for her awful roots. But when it comes down to it even when someone just offhandedly says something homophobic the real intent has already spread its ugly wings. It is very much like saying something like; I’m not prejudiced, but … because then you know that they actually are. In this case the devout Reeves pair has made their feelings abundantly clear. And … hey mon; of course it is an absolute civil right for two persons (no matter who they may be) to marry should they wish to. Maybe she should check out this thread Log in to Reply hey mon March 6, 2013 An absolute civil right would be a right that triumphs over all others, forcing a re-adjustment of society to accept that right. Obviously, no one wants gays and lesbians to be denied any type of housing, job, or right to co-habitation. But to put gay and lesbian rights in the same category as race or ethnic rights would have to cause there to be forced change to private individual and religious rights. For example, to force the Catholic Church to openly allow gay priests, would be an infringement upon the Church’s rights as a religious organization. Of course there are a lot of hidden gay priests, I don’t have my head in the sand. Or for Protestant churches, whose ministers are allowed to marry members of the opposite gender — forcing them to accept gay or lesbian ministers would be wrong, too. But, for example, forcing churches to accept Latino ministers and members is an example of an absolute civil right, it is based on race. But I understand that gays and lesbians have encountered a lot of prejudice, and it is very sad. And I am in a lose-lose situation talking about this issue. The more that I talk about it, the more I am going to get dumped on. And I like to talk to gays, on this forum, and in real life, so I set politics aside (it really can be boring, and there is really nothing we can do about it). Besides, where else can a 49-yr old, straight, work-out freak, who is vain, likes tight clothes, eyebrow-waxing, sunglass-wearing, go to talk about Y&R and DAYS? Log in to Reply soapbaby March 6, 2013 @ hey mon: You want to set politics aside, then don’t make charged political statements that you can’t back up. Since you find it so important to distinguish yourself as “heterosexual who likes gays” but just don’t like gays enough to feel gays should be afforded the same rights and protections as heterosexuals?! YES. Let’s just leave the politics out of it and you go back to jumping through verbal hoops to mask the fact that you think about scantily-clad male physiques as much as any virile gay man. Don’t you just wish Genoa City would open a strip club where Carmine, Mason, Tyler, Noah, Alex, Cane works and the older guys like Neil and Michael mentored the younger guys on crotch-thrusts? Log in to Reply hey mon March 7, 2013 I should probably just keep my mouth shut in the area of civil rights and politics. Cause if I say something like gay and lesbian rights are definitely a valid and worthy ‘civil right’, but not an ‘absolute’ civil right, I just put my foot in my mouth. And even though I am 99% more progressive than any of my friends and family on this issue (I am assuming that suburban Oakland County, Michigan is typical of Americana), I know that it is probably not enough for all posters. America is on a journey of acceptance of gay and lesbian rights. There are signposts to the left and to the right of the correct path that we should go. What was a definite unacceptable belief 20 or 30 years ago, has now become commonplace. For example, in the area of Gay Marriage, I now agree that it is a good thing (not that my opinion counts that much), in that it will probably aid commitment among two males (the lesbian couples I know are already ultra-committed to each other). So, having said that, I hope that all people realize that I am an open-minded individual, who cares about all people.
