General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

The mayor rips Anna a new one for allowing a 15 year old to release three prisoners, who then killed a serial killer.  She’s worried about the PR nightmare.  Anna takes full responsibility for the incident, and hands over her badge and a resignation letter.  The mayor promptly rips up the letter, and says Anna quitting would reflect badly on her. The mayor is concerned about the public backlash following the release of the trio.

Molly tells Kristina she’s glad she freed the prisoners, because they ended up saving Sam and Danny’s lives.  The two watch a press conference at the police station featuring Sam. Sam declares that if it weren’t for John, Lucy and Rafe, she and Danny would be dead. She promises to fight for them.

Lucy thanks Sam for standing up for them. Rafe tells Lucy he saw his mother, and Lucy admits Alison came to her as well. Alison's ghost gave her hope and courage.  Rafe recalls his mother told him Caleb was his father. In response, Lucy tells him to honor his mother by believing he’s nothing like Caleb.

Kristina wonders about Molly’s feelings for Rafe, but Molly refuses to directly answer her sister. She just wants everyone to go free, because she believes they are all innocent.

Felix celebrates graduating from nursing school, and is surprised to hear Sabrina didn’t. She decides she must have failed the final exam.  Felix is certain it’s a clerical error, and offers to talk to Epiphany on Sabrina’s behalf.

Patrick confronts Britt on whether she had anything to do with Sabrina failing her exams. Britt denies doing anything to Sabrina’s exam.  Patrick warns Britt that if she had anything to do with this, he’ll make sure she’s the one not working at the hospital anymore.

Liz and Olivia are shocked when Steve is arrested by Memphis Police for murder.  Liz is certain they have the wrong man.  The officer explains Maggie’s family didn’t believe she was the guilty party, and had her suicide note checked for forgery. The family's suspicions turned out to be true, and the forger admitted Heather was behind Maggie’s death.  The officer continues, and mentions some paperwork they found, which implicated Steven as the culprit. He will be extradited to Tennessee at once.

Liz asks Steve if he killed his patient, and Steve admits he did. He won’t fight the charges.  Olivia wants to get Alexis on the case, but Steve says he had no right to kill the patient. He believes it lead to Maggie’s death.  Olivia begs Liz to convince Steve to defend himself, but Liz decides it's Steve’s decision.  Olivia wonders what will happen to them now. However, she still wants to get married.

Steve deduces he doesn’t want to start their marriage like this. He wants her to wait for him, while he serves his time.  Olivia is not willing to let him go.

At the press conference, the mayor explains that Lucy, John and Rafe were all working in tandem with the police department. Through their joint effort, the group managed to rid the city of a serial killer. She declares the DA will not be pressing charges, but releasing the three.

Anna apologizes to John for not knowing the difference between him and Caleb.  Lucy wonders why John and Sam look so much like Livvie and Caleb.  Anna just wants it all to be over.  Lucy wishes to see Caleb’s body.

Felix returns from speaking with Epiphany, and tells Sabrina she passed the exam with flying colors. However, they believe she cheated.

Molly visits Rafe at the police station, and thanks him for saving Sam and Danny.  He tells her about Caleb being his father, and how he has nowhere to go now.  John and Sam also wonder what will happen to Rafe.

Anna brings Lucy to the morgue, and she views Caleb’s dead body.  She asks about his ring, which is not on his finger.  Anna figures someone must have taken it off, but Lucy is adamant it would have to be cut off. Anna promises to put in a report about it. Lucy acknowledges Caleb never existed, and Steven Clay was just a man.

After their gone, the morgue attendant is shown lying on the gurney.  Caleb removes the ring from his pocket, puts it on and leaves.

I love how Anna humours people like Lucy. Finola played that scene in the morgue brilliantly.

I like how they pulled off having the three released. It's a PR nightmare for the mayor, so out they go. Works for me.

Liz/Olivia/Steve: Well, it was better than having him die and have Liz mourn the loss of another family member, but it's a crappy way to end Stolivia.

Loved Patrick giving Britt another smackdown but it irks me that he's so much in Sabrina's corner when he wasn't in Robin's corner when she was being attacked everyday by Lisa. I'll fanwank it that he learned his lesson, but still.

And why did Felix have to be the one to ask Pif? Why are these people falling backwards for precious wittle Sabrina all the time? Guh. She's not a terrible character, but this show is making me hate her.

Perkie

I like the character Sabrina and she seems like a character that we should be rooting for. I think what's starting to irk me with her is that she is constantly whining. Its to the point now that they need to develop her into a stronger character or get rid of her.

Total agreement with you on FH's performance and the whole way they arrived at dropping the charges against the Three Amigos.

Sabrina has been pimped and propped since she came on the scene and I'm getting tired of it. At least Liz is no longer on teenage baby sitting duties. Patrick is a grown ass man and should not be reduced to hanging out with Sabrina's teenage drama.

I guess RC did not want Matt and Maxie getting married before Matt was sent to prison...er.... I meant Steven Lars and Olivia!

Yes, Liz is once again losing another family member, this time to prison! Steven Lars and Olivia could have gotten married with Liz, Dante, Lulu, Kate, etc in attendance and then go off on their honeymoon to meet Jeff and his wife.

Anna is the bomb!

Where the heck is Pip?

Works for me, too. I like the woman playing the mayor. Strong woman in charge. I wish we could see more of her.

I love this Twitpic so much that I have to keep passing it along! LOL!

As much as everyone is complaining about people propping up Sabrina (and you won't get any argument from me on it because its true), I am seeing the same thing happen with Rafe. Molly has become an annoyingly obsessive where Rafe is concerned and all she seems to think or talk about is Rafe Rafe Rafe. Then you have Sam proclaiming him as a hero when he really didn't do jack and would have ended up giving Danny to Heather again if Heather's guilty conscience hadn't got the best of her.
I am already sick of the kid.

So I'm now to the point where I can't even watch an episode without worrying about what everyone else is going to say about it later that day on Perkie's Observations!!! Like when the morgue guy walked out with the ring on (which I thought was AWESOME, I thought, "OMG, those people who hate the vampire storyline are gonna freak out! This was supposed to be over! They're gonna be so pissed!"

Maybe I need to lay off this site a bit ... but I like it so much!

Having said that, I didn't enjoy today's episode very much.

I did love Anna's response to everything today, the mayor, Lucy, the media frenzy. Her facial expressions were awesome! But other than that, I didn't like the police station scenes. Too much, too crowded, just too much.

I will admit that I am a sucker for the Q's, and I want Monica and AJ front and center as much as possible. And I get that maybe that's unrealistic. But it annoys me that Monica's grandson and AJ's little nephew were kidnapped by a serial killer "vampire", and they are in no way even showing concern. Monica was last seen reading her kindle while Danny and Sam were being held at Wyndemere. I know LC isn't on contract, but it's just annoying that she isn't included in at least the homecoming scene. Grandma Alexis was all over him. Why not Grandma Monica? We had all those heartwarming scenes at Edward's death bringing Sam and Danny into the Q fold and now there is nothing.

I seem to be in the minority around here, in that I have generally enjoyed the Sabrina/Patrick/Britch storyline. But today was out of control. First we had to worry that Sabrina was going to be ousted from the nursing program for killing a patient -- that took about a week or so to wrap up. Then we had to wait to find out why her name wasn't on the list of graduates ... did Sabrina fail her final exam? Oh, the drama. But wait ... turns out she actually passed her test. Felix heard from Epiphany that she "cheated". Now we have to wait for that to work itself out. Tooooo much ... don't they get that? I'm finding it harder and harder to enjoy this.

Secondly ... so Liz is rotated out as Sabrina's sidekick and Felix is rotated in? I have found Felix to be such a refreshing character, but today I found him annoying. Let Sabrina figure this shit out for herself.

Thirdly, the one interesting scene that may have played itself out today would have been the one between Felix and Epiphany ... but we didn't see it!

Wasn't feeling the Steve/Olivia scenes ... sorry.

I loved the morgue scene. My 70 year old mother called it as soon as Lucy and Anna walked in. She said, "that guy is going to take over as the vampire ... he looks just like Caleb!" I thought it was a great way to end the "vampire" story. All we saw was someone walk out with the ring. Leaves open a lot of possibilities.

So some things to like, but overall, it made me think that Monday is not a good day to watch this show (last Monday was bad too). I was stressed out. And where the heck are Laura, Scott, and Luke?

I took the scene at the end to be nod to those who believed he was a real vampire and for those who didn't . PCers can think well Caleb didnt die while Ghers are left to think the morgue attendant thinks he is vamp. Awesome.

Iowa I agree with your post. not one of my favorite days though I did like mcbam and the anna scenes.

As for the stolivia wedding, they lost me especially after the great post stabbing stuff and here is why - Steve is pleading guilty because he feels so much guilt about killing a murderer so that a little girl could live and he want to take responsibility but he is confessing NADA about the organ donor ring. If he always thought about it, why not tell after Maggie said she wanted to or when he was being blackmailed or in all the year after it happened. then there is Olivia. She accepted his decision so easily. why isn't she demanding he fight and staying on him until she gets her way they way we have seen her do with maxie lulu dante kate johnny etc. and then there is liz - so disappointed in steve when she was never disappointed in Jason. Liz would have asked more questions and given her brother a pass. I just didn't see any of them necessarily acting very in character.

I wonder who will take rafe in - lucy, sam, john, alexis, diane, the qs, sean - lots of possibilities I think. Interested to see where he ends up.

^^ PREACH!!! I am beyond tired of Sabrina. So annoyed I completely zoned out after Felix decided to go speak to Epiphany on Sabrina's behalf. What??!! I was done. Why can't Sabrina be written as a character versus a series of cliches and plot-points? I don't blame the actress because I think she is capable. I completely blame the writing. As written, Sabrina only exists to be propped-up because there's not much of a character. If she must be frontburnered, the least she could be is developed beyond a pair of glasses and unruly hair! All of this screentime and ZERO character development.

I may watch the scenes of Liz/Steve/Olivia on YT. Um, maybe not. The episode doesn't sound too interesting.

@iowaninmn: I am not sure I understand the first paragraph of your post. You stated your concern about reading today's negative comments because you assumed commenters would trash the vampire story yet you went on to trash the entire episode. Did I misconstrue your meaning?

I like how they acknowledged the years some of us put into PC, but then moved things back to "reality" for GH. Now they can all move on.

No, you're right that was the morgue attendant laying on the slab, not Caleb during that last scene. I was intrigued by that scene because at no point did they show the face of the guy walking away. I guess we're suppose to believe it was Caleb. I actually think it was more to that scene and what happened in the morgue when Anna and Lucy left out. At this point, Im happy with leaving that lil cliffhanger to the storyline and if some in the future they want to revisit.

I was very satisfied with Scott Reeves exit. It made sense. He had to pay for the fact that Maggie died because of his negligence. This came back full circle and i was damn happy with it. I hope now we can have a Sonny and Olivia pairing. I think Solivia would be a better couple than Connie and Sonny.

The ending with Caleb was creepy. Does the end of this story mean the end of Lynn's stint on GH? We still have a few more weeks to go and no signs of Bobbie. To have Lucy, Bobby and Monica together would be monumental. Did we all forget about Tony Jones???????

Frisco has not said a word about not being at Tony's funeral as well!!!! I hope when we get Bobbie back we can finally hear Tony's name mentioned.

I have to give a nod to Ron C. He had us all thinking Steve would die from the stabbing (since we all knew Scott R. was leaving). Instead, he'll be going to prison. I'm glad they didn't kill the character off, (may-be someday they'll be a recast with a much stronger actor), for Liz's sake.
The morque guy looked so much like Micheal Easton! So is this guy the real Caleb? I'm a bit confused over the whole story. Still wondering how they will explain John and Todd leaving the show.

If you want to follow the vampire myth then Caleb glamoured Anna and Lucy into thinking that was him on the autopsy table when he was really standing there talking to them the whole time. He apparently killed the medical examiner before they got there and put his body on the table. Then when they left he walked out.

And Lucy isn't leaving yet. She'll be around for the Nurse's Ball. It wouldn't be the same without her losing her clothes on stage!

I've been accused of being a bit too negative on my posts on any of the shows I watch so I will try and be 50/50 here. Although I don't mind this story of the vampire I would enjoy being clued in a little bit more in what is actually going on by the writers. We watch the show every day and its only on the day of an episode do we get an idea of the ulterior motive for a character like Caleb.

Sure, suspense is great and it has everyone talking. But it also has just as many people turned off. I'm not saying that we need to know the end before it arrives but like most villians on soaps, they have a co-hort whom the super villian... we will say Caleb... talks to about what he plans to do next or hints at it.

But this story has taken up soooooo much screen time every day the one issue I have with it is that other stories aren't hearing the rumors going around town about a possible 'vampire'. It would make sense that in 2013 people of Port Charles would hear about this story and, if nothing, converse and say "did you hear about the rumor of a 2000 year old vamp populating PC?!" and then the character at least shrugging it off.

Or at least a serial killer being on the loose. If Caleb is truly a crazed serial killer why was there no warning to the citizens prior to the press conference? YES... it's a soap. Displace my belief in reality but when you look at a show and there is THIS TYPE of story, it should populate the entire show's conversation and not just a minimum of characters.

And, I'm sorry, the mayor was off base blaming ONLY ANNA for a 15yr old girl getting 3 people to escape! I think she should be calling in the National Guard to police this city and FIRE THE WHOLE LOT OF POLICE FOR JUST BEING DOWNRIGHT STUPID! Dante is included in there. LOL

Where's mac when you need him.

The one thing about the episode that completely pissed me off was SABRINA and FELIX standing around for 20 minutes staring at a board - you passed, no I didn't, yes you did oh no I didnt. Your name must be left off, oh yeah maybe thats it...ARGHHHHHH!!!

Really?!?! - So it takes Felix to garner the strength to ask Piph but not the person whose career is on the line. Sorry Sabrina GROW UP, take, borrow or grow your own set of balls and stand up for YOURSELF.

I am ok with this exit strategy for Steve because Liz will no lose lose another loved one, but while I agree with EET - I do suspect that since Steve is her blood we have a tendency to expect more from them and when they fail us it takes is longer to get over.

How I really can't stand Molly - I don't want to blame the actress but her voice just grates on me. I am sure she is a nice person but her voice comes off as whiny - TO ME. All this Rafe Rafe Rafe stuff makes me really sad for TJ, and I was never invested in those two in the first place.

I can see Alexis taking in Rafe but I would really like it to be McBain.

Before i read all the posts today, i must first say this: I DID NOT DISLIKE anything on my screen yesterday, and there was a warm/professional vibe in the way they pulled off the press conference and release. (Btw, is this mayor a new character?? and why does she have to be there in the lead scene yesterday? anyhoo...) I COULD HAVE enjoyed this. But here is my problem -- IT'S OVERKILL! (Sorry for the yelling.) This story has been on overdrive and overexposed for 6+ weeks now (or is it an eternity? b/c it feels like one). I'm PRAYING the only reason McPain, Coatless Rafe & Slayer Lucy were back on again is b/c ME has to be rushed off the show. And if you combine that with Nasal Molly back on our screens again, it all just begs for the remote control. I threw a whole six pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon at the screen when Kristina rushed out of the bedroom, bad acting & faux panic intact, screaming "Sam and Danny are GONE!" I'm sorry, but how much can we CARE when these 2 are missing every other day in the span of 2 months? The only thing on my mind thru this entire episode is one, and only one thing -- is Genie Francis on a limited, budgeted 2 episode per week contract? THAT is the only burning question on my mind these days. That's it! (Daytime legend Beverlee McKinsey had in her Another World contract only THREE EPISODES per week, according to Harding Lemay's book. Given GH's tight budget, i wouldn't doubt it if that's the only way they can afford having all these veterans back.)

ITA that Finola Hughes was great, and i did appreciate that Lucy was smart enuf to wanna see the body. I still haven't seen the last few mins nor have i seen sneak peek for today's ep but it better look up here pretty soon, i'm getting impatient.

Also, Felix went from being a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy stereotype to being super adorable -- i'd rather see more of him and less of everyone killing themselves to help poor Sabrina.

LOL to Iowainmn's post! Love it. And ITA re: Stolivia, i just don't care. But LLoC did a bang up job, she is an utmost professional. They just need BOTH characters to go, not just Steve. The only use for Olivia now will be to foreshadow future plot points. It just all sucks.

LOVE soapbaby's rant about Sabrina -- all great points! Heck, they should just go back to the writing pad, define and develop Sabrina, and in the meantime that gives Kelly Theibald (sp) time to heal lol...works for me! I know MANY viewers are disappointed to see Jason Thompson stuck in this story...my friend was so p!ssed to see more nursing program drama on Fridays epi! LOL

I just don't get how the heck all this could be going on with Caleb and the gang....and no one else in PC even acknowledge it. There's a possible serial killer/vampire roaming around town killing people, yet no one that isn't involved in the storyline has mentioned it. There are no random "news reports" shown on tv...no newspaper articles with Caleb on the front page...no mention of it anywhere...even by some of the victims' family members. It's just weird to me.

Not a fan of secluded stories.

However, I'm still slowly warming up to GH....I'm trying!!! I actually am looking forward to today's episode. That last scene was kick-ass.
