General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

The mayor rips Anna a new one for allowing a 15 year old to release three prisoners, who then killed a serial killer.  She’s worried about the PR nightmare.  Anna takes full responsibility for the incident, and hands over her badge and a resignation letter.  The mayor promptly rips up the letter, and says Anna quitting would reflect badly on her. The mayor is concerned about the public backlash following the release of the trio.

Molly tells Kristina she’s glad she freed the prisoners, because they ended up saving Sam and Danny’s lives.  The two watch a press conference at the police station featuring Sam. Sam declares that if it weren’t for John, Lucy and Rafe, she and Danny would be dead. She promises to fight for them.

Lucy thanks Sam for standing up for them. Rafe tells Lucy he saw his mother, and Lucy admits Alison came to her as well. Alison's ghost gave her hope and courage.  Rafe recalls his mother told him Caleb was his father. In response, Lucy tells him to honor his mother by believing he’s nothing like Caleb.

Kristina wonders about Molly’s feelings for Rafe, but Molly refuses to directly answer her sister. She just wants everyone to go free, because she believes they are all innocent.

Felix celebrates graduating from nursing school, and is surprised to hear Sabrina didn’t. She decides she must have failed the final exam.  Felix is certain it’s a clerical error, and offers to talk to Epiphany on Sabrina’s behalf.

Patrick confronts Britt on whether she had anything to do with Sabrina failing her exams. Britt denies doing anything to Sabrina’s exam.  Patrick warns Britt that if she had anything to do with this, he’ll make sure she’s the one not working at the hospital anymore.

Liz and Olivia are shocked when Steve is arrested by Memphis Police for murder.  Liz is certain they have the wrong man.  The officer explains Maggie’s family didn’t believe she was the guilty party, and had her suicide note checked for forgery. The family's suspicions turned out to be true, and the forger admitted Heather was behind Maggie’s death.  The officer continues, and mentions some paperwork they found, which implicated Steven as the culprit. He will be extradited to Tennessee at once.

Liz asks Steve if he killed his patient, and Steve admits he did. He won’t fight the charges.  Olivia wants to get Alexis on the case, but Steve says he had no right to kill the patient. He believes it lead to Maggie’s death.  Olivia begs Liz to convince Steve to defend himself, but Liz decides it's Steve’s decision.  Olivia wonders what will happen to them now. However, she still wants to get married.

Steve deduces he doesn’t want to start their marriage like this. He wants her to wait for him, while he serves his time.  Olivia is not willing to let him go.

At the press conference, the mayor explains that Lucy, John and Rafe were all working in tandem with the police department. Through their joint effort, the group managed to rid the city of a serial killer. She declares the DA will not be pressing charges, but releasing the three.

Anna apologizes to John for not knowing the difference between him and Caleb.  Lucy wonders why John and Sam look so much like Livvie and Caleb.  Anna just wants it all to be over.  Lucy wishes to see Caleb’s body.

Felix returns from speaking with Epiphany, and tells Sabrina she passed the exam with flying colors. However, they believe she cheated.

Molly visits Rafe at the police station, and thanks him for saving Sam and Danny.  He tells her about Caleb being his father, and how he has nowhere to go now.  John and Sam also wonder what will happen to Rafe.

Anna brings Lucy to the morgue, and she views Caleb’s dead body.  She asks about his ring, which is not on his finger.  Anna figures someone must have taken it off, but Lucy is adamant it would have to be cut off. Anna promises to put in a report about it. Lucy acknowledges Caleb never existed, and Steven Clay was just a man.

After their gone, the morgue attendant is shown lying on the gurney.  Caleb removes the ring from his pocket, puts it on and leaves.

I resent the fact that the OLTL exits caused many rushed rewrites and has made me hate this show right now lol...Yesterday wasn't a horrible episode but we needed a bigger break from the vamp story than just one day! I was more interested in Finola's beautiful hair than all the pomp and circumstance at the cop shop. Let's see, we needed 10-20 dayplaying reporters there, but we can't pay Leslie Charlson to come in for the day? *eyeroll*

The White Ribbon Campaign is going on right now, which is when people wear a white ribbon to show their support for victims of domestic violence.

My friend made a good point -- it's taken literally FOUR MONTHS to usher 3 characters off the show for a mere month! LOL

I was wondering the same thing about Anna's white ribbon, but then at the end I thought I saw the same kind of ribbon/tie at the bottom of her shirt as well and just assumed it was the design of the top she was wearing. Could be wrong though.
As far as the morgue guy goes, I was totally suspicious of the fact that he looked so much like Caleb but yet Lucy didn't bat an eye about that fact. If I were her and so obsessed with Caleb, I would have freaked out just by seeing the look-alike morgue guy. Although Anna seemed to know him though. Wonder how long it will take for someone to realize the shenanigans that just went down in that morgue?
Goodbye Steve, come back to Port Charles when you catch your breathe. He always makes me feel I'm gasping for air when he talks. He really needs to learn how to show emotion instead of gasping for air all the time.

@IOWAHAWKEYE: Great posts!

I could not contain my rant about Sabrina. She was the reason I turned the episode off 1/4 way through! And it's not the first time I have turned off an episode of GH because of so much Sabrina. The DID storyline seems like a dream compared to Sabrina Santiago. Britt is just as hollow in terms of character but she's got three things going for her: 1.) she's feisty, 2.) her character doesn't require the propping-up by other characters like Sabrina does and 3.) she hates Sabrina nearly as much as I do. Wink

KelliM64, HILARIOUS point about Scott Reeves -- he actually thinks the deep breathing is a substitute for acting. The whole "brooding" thing he does too doesn't work for me either. Buh bye Scott!

Soapbaby, brutal, witty and succinct, and ever loyal in your hatred for Sabrina! LOL

I think the reason they never showed Caleb's face at the end is because they aren't continuing the storyline right now, but it leaves it open for Caleb to return. I also just wish they'd answer the damn question of why John looks like Caleb and Sam looks like Livvie....that's going to bug me for a while (if they are 2 different people that is). I also wish that whenever someone told Lucy that Caleb had no pulse, she would have said "well duh! He's a vampire! Vampire's don't have a pulse!" Overall, I enjoyed the vampire storyline very much and was happy with the way it ended. Now Lucy can get back to the nurses ball!!!

I am sad that Steve is leaving because I liked him and Olivia as a couple, but at the same time, I'm cool with it. There's not much of story for them had the continued as a couple it, especially with Heather locked up. Although Olivia being pregnant while her baby daddy is in jail is something that could be interesting to see.

Looking forward to more Elizabeth and AJ, but from what I've been reading, Carly is going to get involved and I do not want her being a meddler and sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong.

Loved the Mayor! Wish we could see more of her. Would love for her to be Epiphany's girlfriend! What a great couple!

I don't mind Sabrina at all...I think she can get a bit annoying when she whines, but I really enjoy her story with Patrick, Britt, and Felix...one of the cheif complaints about past regimes at GH was that there wasn't enough AT the hospital. Now we have some things and it's nice to see the hospital take more of a lead role. It's not the best story in the world, but it's nice to see new nurses and doctors etc. Would love for Bobbie to come back and want Epiphany's job as head nurse. Bobbie vs. Epiphany! That'd be sweet!

As i've said before, i'm worried about this show, or more to the point, more worried about CarTooni's agenda and/or vision for the show. That new promo doesn't instill much faith either. Tony Geary has been back from vacation a month and has been on maybe 3-4 days tops? I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but would you rather see Luke, or McBam and Todd? I choose the former Sad

I'm wondering if maybe rushing thru the vamp story plus working around Jack Wagner's schedule has screwed up the pacing and/or rotation of characters? I'm not really sure. We'll see.

See I prefer the latter - Luke hasn't worked for me in years and after his killing Jake I would much rather him be put to pasture after the 50th Anny

@pjc722..I don't think anyone on here is telling you to stop giving your opinion. I think the feeling is that you along with a few others have such negative posts about the show, that it's puzzling why you still watch it. I believe there is always room for constructive criticism but at the same time, the positives should be pointed out. Let's face it this show and any other show is never going to be able to please everyone. A plot you may love, someone else is going to definitely hate.

"out to pasture" - ROTF! TG's acting is so much more nuanced and full imo...i feel JACK SQUAT watching ME or RH, zero reward for me...

@robertscorpio -- yesterday's epi was such filler, i found so little to enjoy. Of course everyone has their idea of what GH could and should be, but to me yesterday wasn't it. Too many annoying newbies and one front burner plot isn't my idea of a fab GH. When the episode started, my first thought was "OMG, when did Macy Gray join the cast?" I'm just playin.

I'm with Ravennite on who I would rather watch. Give me Roger Howarth or Michael Easton anyday over Tony Geary. I have become fatigued of Tony Geary's self-indulgent, smug performances and the years of Emmy bait between months of vacations. Sadly, TG's acting style rubbed off on Jonathan Jackson...I digress. The character of Luke Spencer was destroyed for me when he killed Jake and the aftermath. He's never been repaired after that.

While I agree several characters are show hogs (Sabrina and Kate/Connie), I also don't care about Luke. Once he killed Jake without remorse he became irredeemable and really brings nothing to the canvas.

I hope they don't make Scotty a villian. I've always had a soft spot for him, plus he's funny.

How long are the former OLTL people going to be off screen--and will it be spread out or all at once?

Count me among the people who no longer gives a crap about Luke Spencer. He hasn't even REMOTELY been redeemed in my eyes since he killed Jake and said that it was "LIBERATING". Sick Sick

Lucy D, I really don't want Scotty to be a villian either, my heart sorta dropped when they teased that last week. And i can only hope they're gone all at once, not to beat a dead horse...ME does seem to have great chemistry with all the actors he works with, i will give him that. I thought Howarth did an awful job as Paul on ATWT, and it's taken me years to get over that mugging performance, it was just wasn't my cup of tea. He's got a gift for the one-liners here on GH tho. Within 2 months i was bored with a Carly/Todd pairing, i feel they've almost as far as they can go and they're not really even together yet. We'll see!

ITA that the Jake story was a bad idea, but i loved the whole intervention stuff from an acting and production POV. Does TG still submit himself for Emmy consideration?

@ IOWAHAWKEYE: I agree with you and Lucy D about not wishing to see Scott made the villain. There's so much story to mine with the character that exceeds being a moustache-twirling villain (as I am afraid RC would write) or a "bitter, toothless, scowling idiot" as written under Guza. I guess we will have to wait and see...

As far as Luke Spencer, I think the "intervention" episode of GH was a brilliant single moment only to garner Emmys for Tony Geary and Jonathan Jackson and not to advance the characters or story. Jake's death was senseless and callous and only Emmy bait for TG and JJ. Frankly, Rebecca Herbst's moment of Liz sobbing while folding Jake's clothing was much more impacting for me because a.) I watched Liz care for this child where I had never seen JJ's Lucky or Luke care for this child, b.) her mother's pain was palpable and c.) Rebecca Herbst exceeded with subtle acting choices over JJ & TG's screeching, snotting, blood-shot-eye-having, greasy, soulless scenery-chewing. As a former fan of Jonathan Jackson this storyline put the nail in the coffin for me (I began to loathe TG's acting with his "My Way" episode.)

Yesm IOWAHAWKEYE, I agree with you about Todd and Carly. I do enjoy RH, since I think he's pretty amusing and I didn't watch OLTL, so I don't know about his apparently very checkered past. Todd seems to be at his best when he has someone a little nutty to play off of (Lucy, Heather). Carly is kind of a drag--and I actually don't hate the character.

Sadly soapbaby, i have to agree with you that the intervention was to just garner Emmys -- pathetically sad, but nonetheless TRUE! Sad( And if i had to watch JJ bawl one more damn day, i would've lost it. I saw the Liz stuff too, and she was wonderful. So many viewers are cheering for Rebecca and her character!

I try to understand that budgets have to be considered -- and that Starfish must be featured at ALL COSTS -- but i will seriously lose faith in Re-Ron if they can't do any justice with Kin's return and write something decent and credible for Scotty/Luke/Laura. It's becoming exhausting making up excuses for the writing and this show, and frankly, i'm expecting some changes this week and next.

If they were hinting at an AJ/Carly/Todd triangle, that would maybe be interesting, but not at the cost of no story for Liz!

I think an AJ/Carly/Liz triangle with Liz triumphing would be far more entertaining. Carly has always been dismissive of Liz and I would like to see some payback.

Count me in the group thats over luke. I hate that they thought his redemption should come at the hands of supporting anna. You all know that I am no fan of the character of Liz, but i will say a million times the ONLY redemption of Luke that could even possibly occur is through liz/luke scenes and some sort of acknowledgement and atonement to HER. That he was kind to anna did absolutely nothing to me esp. since in the end it was entirely self serving in that he got his whistle wet with her.

As for the whole liz/sabrina/patrick/felix/britt stuff. Just UGH. Im loving felix but i dont feel anyone else. Patrick should have been in story with liz - watching emma getting attached to new brothers and liz as mom only to have robin return. THAT would have been compelling story and would have allowed for aj/carly/todd. Aj and carly have great love hate chemistry. In a way i see aj/carly vs. carly/todd as a redo of carson vs. jarly. Sabrina - I am totally with you raven - how many TIMES could they read the same list of names. Its not like it went on for pages and pages, its the size of a high school musical casting list lol. I was hoping that britt would walk over and write her name on the list just to make them stop

I hear that! I'm forever trying to sneak my feelings about Tony Geary & Luke out without offending anyone. I'm waiting to see if TG will turn up for his scenes with Laura, and if they at least mention TG/Guza's horrible retconn of Luke's character. If they don't, then Geary can leave for all I care.

Actually, I wouldn't mind it if they killed the character off. He's had what, two heart attacks? Let him bite the big one.

Just listened to the DC podcast, and i think they're all being a little too kind re: GH -- at least the GH i've witnessed the past month. I guess Genie Francis/Laura not even being mentioned might just sum it up best! I'll just count my lucky stars that it's not all mob-centered anymore as Jamey suggested and that we'll get back to BALANCED story telling very soon!

I do agree that i do enjoy all the action at the hospital, even if i have issues with a character or two...
