Log in to Reply harlee490 March 4, 2013 OH my gawd…it went to NBC and saw the preview…NICK..this is good stuff!! Log in to Reply angrierblackerman March 4, 2013 Now I’m convinced that Nick was sexually assaulted in prison. Wanna see how this plays out! Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 4, 2013 As much as I love Days, I’d be the first to admit that it doesn’t do much subtle or balanced writing, so I suppose it would be too much to hope that if they’re using prison-rape as an explanation for Nick’s hatred of gays, they also emphasize the fact that the vast majority of the men who rape other men in prison are not, in fact, gay. Log in to Reply harlee490 March 4, 2013 SA…so true but if they are going down this road and writing Nick so violent again….how could they redeem someone with this type prejudice? I think it would be hard…ie Adam Newman Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 4, 2013 harlee.., my guess is somewhere down the line, the character will either see the error of his ways or do something that causes him to get sent off to jail again. The actor only signed on to the show for a year. He also has a couple of movies coming out. Log in to Reply appleridge March 4, 2013 This story is getting better & better Log in to Reply cord2012 March 4, 2013 I think they have made Will look like an idiot in this story. Nick’s homophobia was more subtle than most soaps, but not that subtle. Nick was violated and now he blames all gays, but later comes around after he learns that rape is a crime of violence and control, and has nothing to do with being gay. This is a very tricky storyline, not sure if GT and CWS are skilled enough to pull it off. Let’s see what happens! Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 March 4, 2013 I think Nickclueless secretly wants some of Will’s magic stick! Speaking of Will, why does it seem that Chandler Massey has been kinda phoning in his performances lately? Is the poor baby bored? Distracted by personal stuff? Constipated? The same fire doesn’t seem to be in his belly as in years past! Something has changed! Log in to Reply angrierblackerman March 4, 2013 I don’t think Chandler is phoning it in, it’s just that GT and CWS can’t write. They are not writing will correctly. Will is not some delicate lamb, and he certainly wouldn’t just sit there and let people walk all over him. The material is weak, and Chandler is playing what he is being given. I suppose you could say that like many of the women on the show, the brains and feisty qualities go out the window when a man is involved with them (in this case, Sonny). Also, upon looking at the video again, maybe Nick didn’t say ‘Yes’ to Will’s question. It was only edited to appear that he did? Watch it again and then decide if it is real, or designed to make us think Nick said he did it because Will is Gay. I do agree with alstonboy that Chandler Massey does seem to be “phoning” in many of his performances. I have always found Chandler Massey absolutely charming and adorable but an average actor. If he weren’t as charming and cute I’d probably think he was a bad actor! Lol. Log in to Reply Yoryla March 4, 2013 Well, I’m glad it’s finally out there. But it still doesn’t answer the question as to WHY he hates gays so much…… Guess that revelation is coming down the pike later on. I’m a little bit worried about how this story will progress, considering Blake Berris is apparently not leaving the show. After last week, I really see the only answer to this is for him to die. There’s just no way I want to see a reform story for Nick, because I will never get over what he said and did to Will. And if he doesn’t reform, then that means he will only cause further havoc. And I’m sorry I really don’t want to see anything more or worse than what has transpired thusfar. Log in to Reply soapbaby March 4, 2013 @ Yoryla: I thought Blake Berris was short-term? Has it been confirmed that he is on a long-term contract? And I disagree about Nick’s inability to be reformed. For a soap, he has been rather tame and could definitely be reformed if the writers write it so. Also, didn’t Nick go to jail for killing a man and kidnapping Melanie? By comparison, being mean to Will is small stuff! LOL. Heck, in DAYS’ universe, Jack Devereaux raped Kayla Brady, the show’s heroine, and reformed to became a viable romantic lead/hero/comic relief! Also, Marlena was possessed by the devil AND (under mind control) “killed” half of Salem. No one even gives a side-eye! IMO, there’s plenty of story to tell for Nick. He’s young, attractive, a Horton and has a checkered past. You poor tortured soul! Log in to Reply harlee490 March 5, 2013 Ferrari517…we gay people are the most judgemental and haters…when society as whole have spread prejudice for decades and who’s judgemental..but your small mind and narrow vision holds you back to enjoy all ppl for who they are… Log in to Reply Cordelia Chase March 5, 2013 I don’t think Chandler is phoning in his performances. The writing sucks. Will and Sonny have zero chemistry. Chandler is best in scenes with Deidre and Ali. Conversely, Nick Berris sucks. I do not understand why people are slobbering over him like he’s the new Brando. I find him unattractive, boring, and painful to watch. Different strokes, I guess. Also, Chandler can get it anytime he wants. Log in to Reply Margaret Thatcher March 5, 2013 Nick is a warped bigot. My suspicion is, once Gabi gets wind of Nick’s hatred of Will because he’s gay, Gabi will pull the plug on the nuptials and Nick will go off the deep end. Log in to Reply pjc722 March 5, 2013 I sort of wished this storyline included one other cast member who was disappointed with Will and Sonny being gay. I am a gay man and although I know my family loves me, my friends accept me, I realize that not everyone thinks my life is given to me by god/at birth and not a choice. I applaud the show for tackling this sort of hatred but if, let’s just say, Hope’s half-sister/step mom, Julie, voiced her objections to his lifestyle. Not in a “stay away” kind of way, but that religiously this was wrong. That she loved him but did not accept his life as anything more than a choice he made. Then when Nick comes around it’s not so insular that he is the only one in town who has a problem with Will, but he is the only one to take it to this level. Then maybe after seeing Nick destroy Will this way, Julie spies Will with Sonny and sees the love there and comes around and works to bring Nick around. Sure, this could be a story of Nick being raped in prison… not a first on daytime… and his anger at it. But Nick is still a little mental so it really doesn’t … for me… depict the societal response to homosexualty. BUT I do like that they are taking it on. Log in to Reply pjc722 March 5, 2013 And I do remember Will’s friend who was momentarily shocked by his sexuality but is now a good friend again. Log in to Reply ChrisGa March 5, 2013 alstonboy….I’ve gotten that same sense of “phoned-in” performances from CM, especially during last week’s episodes. I love Will and totally adore CM but I also agree with soapbaby in that CM gets by alot on his charm and overall hotness. I don’t know, sometimes he’s really on and sometimes it just falls flat; could just be his own personal acting choices. Yoryla….I said on a couple of previous threads that I had a feeling once all is said and done with this storyline that Nick would probably meet a possibly permanent end. I know BB’s initial contract was for just the one year so unless that changes I’d say his next exit may be a bit more lasting. Log in to Reply Karissa March 5, 2013 Shocker! We had this discussion about something like this where I work. What if you were married for 10 years and then your husband or spouse came out as gay what would you do. I said divorce and seek full custody giving him visitation not because he is gay but because I felt he lied to me for so long that the trust is gone. I have to trust someone before I leave mt kids with them Log in to Reply Yoryla March 5, 2013 soapbaby, Chris – thanks for the info, I actually didn’t know BB only signed on for one year. So that would mean if he is to exit it would happen in September, right? And those scenes would be shot around May? Well I guess we’ll see. RE: the comparison with Jack’s and Marlena’s misdeeds. I think this is quite a different situation. Jack and Mar’s misdeed were based on individual actions, things what they had DONE. Nick’s situation is much more deep and profound, it’s about beliefs he has. Because one’s beliefs are what makes you live your life a certain way. That’s what makes this situation more threatening to me. Nick is doing things that might not land him back to prison, even though they should. He acts in a way that not only does he think is right, but thinks there will be no consequences for those actions. THAT is what is so volatile and wrong with this. Log in to Reply soapbaby March 5, 2013 Granted, Marlena being possessed by the devil was a highly unique situation. But, I do think a comparison of Nick to Jack is fair. Nick has a flawed belief system but once upon a time Jack had a flawed belief system too. He thought he was entitled to anything and everything he wanted. He made the choice to act out his insecurities and entitlements when he forced himself on Kayla. He suffered no real consequence for that act like jail time. Jack’s belief system was formed by his upbringing and I think there is a compelling reason to explain Nick’s homophobia. We will have to wait and see. My main point is that no matter what the trangressions/flaws, all fictional characters can be redeemed. Nick killing a man and kidnapping Melanie to be “redeemed” makes his redemption for being a homophobe seem completely plausible to me. Log in to Reply marieperoy March 6, 2013 I wanna like CM but personally I think he has been phoning it in for a LONG time now. As soon as he started getting all the praise his performances got lazies and he relied on his charisma to pull through rather than good acting work IMO Log in to Reply lizzyann70 March 6, 2013 I agree with you he will be out when Gabi finds out! I love that Nick is a homophobe! He is sleezy and creapy and it suits him perfectly! He is the charecter you hate because he is doing it so well. He is portraying every ignorant bigot out there! Can’t wait to see where this goes!! Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
