Sabrina finds Liz crying, and asks what’s wrong. She is shocked to hear about Steve going to a Memphis prison. Liz is just glad the lying is over. She advises Sabrina to speak with Patrick and confess her feelings for him. Sabrina assures Liz she and Patrick are just friends. She doesn't want to lose their friendship if Patrick doesn’t return the feelings. Liz tells her about lunch with AJ, and her insecurities about trusting him. Sabrina asks Liz if AJ is worth the risk, and Liz decides to go ahead with the date.

Tracy pushes Spinelli to get the relish recipe.  He tells her AJ is using a lab tech, who happens to be his girlfriend. Spin doesn’t want to jeopardize their relationship.  Tracy informs him that she owns the building where his office is located. She threatens to toss him out if he doesn’t do as she asks.

Starr is distracted from her work with Elle because of Todd’s trial. She worries her father will be locked up forever. Elle gets her back on track, and they continue working.  The duo tastes a batch, but realize there is a missing ingredient.

Michael visits Carly at the Metro Court, and calls her out on being upset about Todd’s trial.  Carly assures him that she no longer cares about Todd, and doesn’t want to deal with bad men anymore.   AJ arrives and starts arguing with Carly, until Michael stops them. Michael leaves, and AJ continues speaking with Carly.

AJ wants to know the identity of the mystery Quartermaine heir.  Carly asks why he cares, since he’s already beaten Tracy.  AJ tells Carly he wants a backup plan.  He gets a text from Liz about the date, and asks Carly for a reservation.  He informs her the date is with Liz.  Carly warns him part of Liz’s heart is with Lucky, and the other half with Jason.

Sonny wakes up, thankful to be with Kate.  Kate asks if he has real feelings for Connie, but Sonny doesn’t want to talk about it.  He offers to make her breakfast, and they head downstairs. Sonny is shocked to find the broken mirror.  Kate pretends to be surprised, and blames Max and Milo.  Sonny talks about getting her treatment, and Kate assures him that she will find a therapist.

When Sonny leaves, Kate grabs a piece of the mirror and hears a voice. She turns to the mirror and it is revealed Kate is inside the mirror, while Connie is outside. Connie has taken over again. Connie declares she’s here to stay, and will make Sonny pay for cheating on her with Kate.

At the courthouse, reporters swarm Todd. After Diane states he doesn't have a comment, Todd professes his love for Carly. Diane quickly drags him inside the courtroom.  Diane breaks the news to him that Johnny didn’t agree to call off his goons.

The trial begins. The DA calls Heather to the stand, and she testifies that she acted alone in the baby switch. Heather completely exonerates Todd from having anything to do with the crime. Next, the DA calls Johnny’s goon to the stand, and he testifies Todd was outside when Heather did the switch. He recalls Todd only became involved when Johnny brought him in on the scheme.  Diane asks for a dismissal of all charges against Todd in the baby kidnapping.

Michael stops by the hospital to take Starr to the courthouse, as Ellie discovers what's missing in the relish. Spin shows up, and she tells him she’s figured out the recipe.

Ellie briefly leaves Spin alone in the lab. She returns, just as AJ arrives for an update on her progress. When Elle tries to show AJ the recipe, she can't find it. At the Quartermaine Mansion, Spinelli shows up with the recipe.

Michael and Starr arrive at the courthouse in time to hear Todd is a free man.

Carly sees the video of Todd declaring his love.  She turns to find Todd standing before her.

Sonny/Kate/Connie: Oy vey, didn't I just see this, like five months ago. Connie pretending to be KAte so she can get one up on Sonny. Now I have to sit through it again. Would have been far more interesting had there been a third alter instead.

Starr/Ellie: I don't even understand what they're doing. How can they possibly know the amount of every ingredient, much less the ingredients. And they're cooking batches of it in the lab? On what, a bunsen burner?

The positives: love Michael bringing Carly some junk food to cheer her up. Loved the colour of Carly's dress. Love that Liz is being cautious about AJ and that he appears to be genuine about her

You have to ask yourself, does Ellie have supervisors? Who actually runs GH that allows these things to happen?

Even though LIz was crying, it became all about Sabrina and Patrick. Ugh.

I thought Sonny was all about getting Kate to Shady Brook to get her help. But no he has to sc@#% her first. Well, serves him right. Can we get Connie to actually kill him and put us all out of our misery?

And another thing, if LuLu was so easily recast, why not recast Jason? With for example Brody Hutzler?

It seems Ron doesn't want to write much of anything that references Jason these days (don't want to be driving any viewers to CBS, now), but I think a juicy third alter would have been be for Connie to become Jason!!! I know Kate/Connie is all wrapped up in herselves, but she has to have noticed that Sonny loves no one more than Jason. It would give Kelly Sullivan some juicy material to sink her teeth into, and it would give Sonny something he's always wanted...an opportunity to have sex with Jason!

Seriously, though, I think the difference this time around is that Kate seems to have a bit more of the upper hand with Connie (not at this particular moment, but we're seeing it). It might be interesting to see the dynamic between Kate and Connie with Kate being the dominant one. I think this is one step closer to them eventually being integrated.

Oh this Connie/Kate mess sucks. How long is RC going to keep throwing this story at us? Is it really never ending? Check Connie/Kate into a facility and let us be free of this character.

LOVED the Carly and A.J. scenes and I also like that Elizabeth is trying to be cautious.

I honestly don't need the character of Jason on the show. GH is doing just fine without him, so why recast him? Burton's departure didn't have an effect on the ratings and all of Jason's women seem to do just fine.

Amen! We're ALL doing just fine without him.... after having the character shoved down our throats for a good ten years. I think it's pretty hilarious that no one even acknowledges that he's gone. The less Carlivati references ANYTHING Guza and Phelps did the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I love Connie/Kate. Sorry but I do. Maybe I wouldn't like it as much if I had watched OLTL when Carlivati was doing the DID storyline over. And maybe I wouldn't like it as much if Kelly Sullivan wasn't so much fun to watch. I also enjoy watching Sonny stuck with this hot mess after he spent years making other people's lives miserable.

Why not create an alter that resembles Brenda???? Sonny's one and only love. This story with Cate/Connie is so recycled that I had a nightmare about it last night. Just dreadful!!! Kelly Su is a good actress but at this point I wish she would start booking other film roles and jet out of Port Charles. I think we are close to seeing the end of CATE/CONNIE. It would be nice to have Jax and Brenda return for the funeral of Kate Howard. I loved Megan Ward in the role but if they are not going back to the Crimson and couture idea, they might as well just kill the bitch off.

I'm confused. So is Connie back in charge and pretending to be Kate? I can't keep track. I think I would have a better chance deciphering the recipe for Pickle Lila.

Since Kate/Connie have come and gone so easily over the past year wouldn't Sonny, Dante, Olivia, et. al be more aware of the differences between the two. The minute something like a broken mirror in your home for no reason should be a clue. Didn't Kate/Connie state to Sonny & Olivia in the past that she saw her alter in the mirror?

Still can't figure out why Sonny didn't have Kate carted off to the hospital the minute she re-emerged and why Sonny isn't considered a rapist for sleeping with Connie, yet Johnny was.

I am still on the fence with AJ/Liz. So I am willing to wait and see how this plays out before saying yes or no.

As for Carly/AJ....yes they have great chemistry as combative, almost sibling like.. in a one up man-ship type way. The word immature pops to mind. When Carly was drunk and slobbery all over AJ, I could see why some of you thought it was hot.... But in reality I found it sad. Carly's goal was to humiliate him at that time. She was feeling sorry for herself, and decided to take it out on AJ. I don't think she would have acted that way in her right mind is what I am saying. They have never been in love with one another... they have simply hated each other for all these years ( 20 plus years). I really would have a hard time suddenly believing in a romantic love with this couple...Besides...you would then lose this funny combative relationship they have now...which is priceless....I think romantically they would be boring. Besides I love her with Todd.

I no longer watch the Konnie scenes. I refuse to...so no comment to make there.

I was disappointed in Spinelli. He shouldn't have betrayed Ellie....AGAIN.

Tracy once again was a hoot. I laughed out loud when she shoved Spinelli behind the couch. I am loving seeing so much of Tracy on the screen.

Oh I forgot...I don't really have a problem with Todd getting off. Switching babies was NOT his idea. It was all Heather...and she had to work hard to convince him to do it. She lied about Sam and Jason not wanting the baby...and his guilt with Tea at the time was so strong, I can see why he went along with it. Besides they portrayed him eaten up with guilt the whole time the baby switch story line was underway. Don't get me wrong...I don't condone his actions...they were terribly wrong...I just didn't blame him like I did Heather.

What we can't forget is this is a soap. In order to drive story lines characters have to do bad things at times. If we sent them all off to prison when the story was over, we would constantly have new actors on the show to replace people. You have to write loop holes into stories, just to keep the characters around. Besides this is not nearly as bad as Luke mowing down Jake...NOT EVEN BEING ARRESTED...and getting away with child vehicular manslaughter while DRUNK...and STILL drinking on the show to this day. NOW this is a travesty of justice.

PJC I see your point about payback but Im with 777 on this (and that comes from a Sam FF). Usually we talk about payback and atonement in tandem so lets look at what todd has lost because of the baby switch - tea wants nothing to do with him and neither does blair, he went on trial, he was in jail albeit for a short time, carly declared she too was done, starr has lost a little of her daddy love and he was portrayed as being tormented over what he had done. Meanwhile, he also atoned with sam by saving danny from Caleb. I would say that some of these beats didn't play out as effectively as they could have - ie I think we should have had a scene with sam saying I will never forget that Jason died not knowing his son, but I am grateful that you were willing to face off with caleb to protect my son - but the beats were there. Compare that to luke under guza who got yelled at by his family, but ultimately forgiven, and he had to run off or a bit and quit drinking for a bit. I think if you are going to compare the two, cartini did a far better job than Guza, and yes, its the only way to keep characters.

As for Jason, I think they should be mentioning him more, but its too soon to bring him back. Sam is still in mourning, liz is still available and carly is adrift, Nu Jason would slide back in way too easily. Im not opposed to a recast or if SBu wanted to return after his contract wraps with yandr, I would welcome it, but they should wait until mcbam has professed their love, liz has found someone, and carly is bedding his brother. It also might be interesting if Alexis dumps Sean and in turn he decides he no longer has to honor her request not to get too deep in to Sonnys business. Michael knee deep in ELQ would add to the tension as well. That is the point that they should bring back nujason. Should he return to find his wife living with the one man he considered to be a real rival, his bestie sleeping with the brother that caused his brain damage, his best friend leaning on someone else, his ex lover involved elsewhere, and the kid he went to jail for attached at the hip to yet another father would be rife with drama. The suggestion of Brian Hetzler did nothing for me as did most on the following list, but I could see the guy from Sex and the City taking this on. As Ive said, I also think dean winters would work in the role.

http://www.examiner.com/article/20-possible-recasts-for-jason-morgan

Carly and aj should never become some schmoopy couple. They should be written like alan and monica so that yes, we don't loose that confrontational chemistry. But whatever type of chem they have, I have to say its off the charts. I like her with todd, but not nearly as much as I like her scenes with aj. And no, they never were in love, but billy warlock at a point in their history, played it like he was open to them becoming a real couple (when she agreed to marry him and was living in the house). SKs aj, pre Carly putting him in the laundry cart, considered her his best friend. I would absolutely love seeing them talk about their history, both carly drugging him and the fight on the stairs. I could see carly doing something terrible and aj saying to her - don't you ever feel sorry for the things you do? and Carly taking that moment to say that while she really did feel that Michael was better off away from him because of his drinking not a day goes by that she isn't ashamed that she was so fearful of losing Michael that she put him in the laundry cart. In response aj should talk about his regrets over the stairway. If they address those moments, I think they could move forward.

Well, look at this, wonders never cease! We actually had an episode where Liz and Sabrina were talking about LIZ's love-life, at least for the majority of the time. Wow. I do believe this was the first time. Liked it.

I have to say, re: the backstage cast changes, that why is it that Liz's lovelife is dependant on other character's love lives? And why is Carly's lovelife more important than Liz's? The rumors have it that if Todd wasn't coming back to GH at all, they would have paired AJ with Carly instead of Liz. It makes me really mad. I'm glad that is not an issue now that Todd is returning - but it shouldn't have been one in the first place.

Having said that, I'm still not buying this great magic between Todd & Carly. They're good friends but I don't know. If there is something more, it seems to be one-sided, coming from Carly. For some reason I don't buy that kind of emotions from Todd.

I have been a little indifferent to the OLTL transplants from the start. I don't dislike them, but I don't feel riveted by their characters either. And on occasion all of them have annoyed me a bit. So as with John, I'm also glad to have a break from Todd & Starr coming up.

I was not happy about Todd getting off scot-free especially when Heather has to actually go to prison.

Was this the last time we saw Heather?

Carly looked amazing. Loved the little "family bonding scene" between her, AJ & Michael.

I'm glad someone mentioned Liz's love for both Lucky and Jason. I'm still waiting on AJ & Liz to discuss Jason and/or Emily.

Ellie is such a breath of fresh air.

So now Tracy owns Spin's building? Lol! Talk about contrived, especially since it's never come up before.

this was the only episode that I have ever agreed with Carly on anything... what IS Elizabeth thinking?! As much as I am soooooo happy Liz has more air time and some type of story, I just cannot get behind her and AJ. Not only is it an unrealistic pairing but it just feels like they're only being put together because they're both single and all of the other characters are attached to someone else in one way or another. They only other person Liz could have been paired with was Johnny, who is now a goner.
On another note the chemistry between AJ and Carly is insane. They're scenes today were off the charts... this should definitely be a long build up to hate sex!!

FV brought on ME/McBain for Sam and should have brought on an equally hotter male for Liz. I don't want to see Liz single and pining for Jason or that deadbeat, crying douchebag, Lucky Spencer. It's been three years since Liz had any hot loving, and it should come from a man interested in Liz for Liz and not eventually "maybe" having hate sex with a woman that AJ should despise for the rest of his life!

OLTL's Viki had seven alters, Tess/Messica had at least three, I do NOT want to see any more of Connie/Kate chewing up the screen five days a week! The DID crap has been going on for OVER a year! RC, it's time to pull the plug and send Kate to prison for all of the things that she did to Ellie, Johnny and Trey.

Yes, Sonny is no better than Johnny in sleeping with a woman that he knows is mentally ill.

If Todd goes to prison for the baby swap, it's time for Sam to pay the piper for tampering with Jax's car, terrorizing baby Jake, Cam and Liz. It's time for all of Sam's dirty deeds to be outed once and for all, and stop this crap that the character never did one evil thing in her life.

Hey EET...ltns....I am not surprised we agree on the atonement issue. We do agree on a lot...but not so much on AJ and Carly...I also get a real kick out of their scenes together, and think their chem is off the charts.. but in a adversarial way only...I just can't for the life of me see them as a romantic couple. I also disagree with you on the Alan/Monica's relationship....they fought and bickered with one another...but deep down they always loved one another...AND both identified with being a Quartermaine....That equation is missing from AJ and Carly...They have never felt like a united front...and for over 20 years have hated one another with a passion. Their past history is way too toxic for it to suddenly morph into something good. I personally think they both deserve better than settling for this type of relationship anyway.

Now if you want to talk about characters and motivating factors...playing on weaknesses and strengths..the character of AJ has always felt he was a loser, and second best to Jason...He needs a woman in his life to strive to be a better person for. To fight his tendency to do the easier wrong thing...and work on doing the harder right thing. He is a "pleaser" type of personality...Wanting approval. They would have story line potential with him and Liz, based on what he said yesterday to Carly... He told her that maybe for the right woman he could be a better person....This is sort of like a replay with LiRic...Ric was the same way....Loving Liz and wanting to be a good person with her, but constantly fighting his bad deeds in his quest for vengeance against Sonny.

Now Carly....you take away the fighting and need to win out against each other... and what do you have left?....not much...certainly not Alan and Monica.

Maybe it is just me and all this nostalgia with the 50th anniversary...but I want some real romance on this show...like it was in the 80's. I want couples to woo one another and fall in love, that don't have a previous history to overcome. I want to laugh and swoon over romance worthy scenes... I am not supporting AJ and Liz at this time...I am still not sure he is good enough for Liz yet...But I am trying to keep an open mind because I do want Liz to fall in love again... as I want Sam to fall in love again also...with John or someone new...I TOTALLY AGREE with you EET on that it is way too soon to bring back Jason...ALL your points on that were right on the money.

@J Bernard Jones....love the idea of an alter being Jessie Brewer. It always annoyed me that when Emily McGlaughlin passed in 1991 (I think) they never wrote her death into the show. They just never mentioned Jessie again. Weird since she had been on the show almost 30 years! I'm hoping the Nurse's Ball acknowledges Jessie's contributions to the hospital as well as Amy Vining. Another character who simply vanished and after Shell Kepler's passing has never been mentioned yet she was on the show for over 20 years. Maybe Jessie and Amy are living on a farm somewhere.

While we're bringing back long-term characters shouldn't Lee and Gail Baldwin get to come back? Scotty will need someone to sit on his side of the church at the wedding. And if Serena is coming back she might like to see her grandparents.

The same goes for Liz. After all, she does have some things in common with Sam, she has committed crimes that she's never paid for (granted they were minor compared to Todd and Sam's but they are still crimes) that has pretty much been erased like Sam's crimes have been. And her lying about Daniel's paternity test results should defintely be outed if Sam terrorizing her and the boys is ever revisted.

Didn't RC state in one of his interviews or via Twitter, that he only wrote Liz tampering with Sam's paternity test, because SBu chose to leave the show which is rather spiteful?

SBu told FV that Liz would never tamper with Sam's paternity test. LW tweeted that tampering with the paternity test was a Carly move and not Liz.

I have no problem with people doing dirty deeds on a soap, but the shizz has to come out and the characters ostracize before we're told their poop don't stink or pretend that their dirty deeds never happened. Evil

I thought the truth should have come out a long time ago that Jake was Jason's son, and Liz was arrested for perjury which would lead to her sitting in jail or even having Ric try to send her to prison. A custody battle between Jason and Lucky over Jake, while Diane fought for Liz's freedom.
