The View Calls Elisabeth Hasselbeck a “Valued Member”, Cites “Long-Term Contract”

Us Weekly isn't the only infotainment organization hearing Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being axed at The View. Media Bistro's TV Newser blog is citing two sources claiming the reality-star-turned-conservative-talking-head is out.

Of course, this wouldn't be an ABC Daytime story without citing a contract as a way to deny shocking, behind-the-scenes goings-on. Said a Mouse House spokesperson to TV Newser:

“Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of ‘The View’ and has a long term contract.”

Lizzie might wanna ask Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati just how valid their long term contracts with One Life to Live were during that final cycle.

I think at this point, the question is has she been renewed, it will come out sooner or later. I agree with those who are saying ABCD saw the Talk’s recent ratings and are deciding to clean house, wouldn’t be surprise if they let Sherri go.

Excellent point!! Contracts mean nothing. I’m NO fan of Elizabeth- but it’s a sad day in hell when the dumbest woman on the planet, Sherri “the world is flat” Shepherd is still employed.

While I don’t agree with her beliefs, she seems like a nice person, and if they are planning to replace her because of her views, they need to change their opening. Many people who watch the show share her beliefs (my mother included) and forming an educated opinion requires that you take all perspectives, mash them together, and create you own. If this is true, good luck to her. I’m sure Fox News will hire her, no pun or joking intended.

As someone said above, if Sherri makes it out of this, I’ll be surprised. What a moron!

Valued member? That’s highly subjective, in my book. I personally detested her from day one, and not only because of her Conservative views, but also her lack of personality, annoyingly squeaky voice and her staunch defense of two of the most idiotic and repulsive men in history……….George Dubya Bush and Twit Romney!!

Good riddance, honey! Don’t let the door hit you in the tush on the way out!! Actually, do……. :D :D

Will lazy networks ever stop relying so heavily on focus groups? It’s being reported everywhere that Elisabeth Hasslebeck is OUT due to her poor performance in focus groups.

I think that somebody at ABC just wanted her gone. Soon Daphne Oz will have her spot.

I can’t stand her, but the show does need its balance.

I think they should beg to get Rosie back. And then plop down that nutbag Ann Coulter…(to quote Kathy Griffin).

    That’d get their ratings up…

Pfferando…Ann Coulter!…arrgh |( ..I think I would want EH….I can’t stand Ann, if you ever watched Morning Joe she was on there long ago and got into such tiff (putting it nicely) they had to go commercial and she was GONE and not been back…she’s super right wing!

Ann is a whack job. Well we all agree on that. Nobody takes her seriously and do people really believe she writes her own books. She writes books but then does so poorly on the circuit. An idiot. Suspicious. It is what it is.

I thought Joy Behar was leaving. This is the first I have seen on EH. I am far from conservative but doesn’t she balance the panel. I am not sorry to see Joy go. It is time. She has become bully. I think she is more interested in her comedian roots and only spends her time on the view promoting herself in the last couple of years. She used to be good debater, etc but not so much now. Time to go. Still wish her luck, just not on my screen.

It will be interesting to see where it goes. I still hope they stay politically sauvy. I don’t take THE TALK seriously. I don’t care what anyone on that panel thinks. The View did politics better. I hope they replace keeping that in mind. Hey 2016 race comes quicker than we think and I like to see The Views take on things. The Talk panel, with those on it now, is never going to get into real serious political discussions.

alstonboy and pferrando….here we go agreeing again! I can’t stand the woman and refuse to watch that show simply because she’s on there spouting her ignorant-bordering-on-intolerant rhetoric. I’d take Sherri Shepherd thinking the Earth is flat any damn day over listening to this woman.

Never liked her don’t care if she stays or goes, I automatically zone out ignorant people out of touch with reality and that is my definition of Elisabeth Hasselback.

I love any story about Elisabeth Hasselbeck because it always illustrates so clearly how neither side of the political spectrum can lay claim to the word, “tolerance”. ;-)

Elizabeth Hasselbeck has lot to offer ABC, with an interesting way to portray her views. If ABC gets rid of her, their ratings will go down. I think, like most people, Hasselbacek’s views on gay and lesbian issues are evolving towards acceptance. And she can definitely explain well, the issue of Life and Abortion. But someone at the The View’s table simply may not want her around.

Hopefully Ann Coulter is NOT brought on The View, I don’t like her.

Who knows, maybe if one day, The View is cancelled; maybe ABC’s long-ago morning Daytime Drama ‘Edge of Night’, could be brought back on.

Since it was leaked it MIGHT have to do with views, ABC might not let her go after all. Maybe they considered it since The Talk changed their group and have higher ratings. Who knows?

On the Talk I found LR totally obnoxious. That show still does not do it for me. I feel one of them copies Sheree and doe snot do it well. Tired of MG and her do gooder mentality. I am just not into that whole group.

Right now I am thinking in regards to Elizabeth H, “Be careful what you wish for.”

Couldn’t they find some moderates. Ya know people who have centrist beliefs or have some liberal and some conservative leanings. Ya know like most people do. I am pretty liberal however I think the government does spend way too much money and taxes are choking the economy. Surely those kinds of people would be more “balanced” than just to add a couple more wack jobs to the stage. I find that just to be given such extreme pov.s and nothing else is polarizing and is currently causing chaos in this country. We need more people to help bridge the gap rather than just opposite points of view. Surely very few people totally liberal or totally conservative in the US. Otherwise we would be living in a state like Egypt or Iran.

She can be annoying but I have developed a fondness for her mainly because she is open to discuss gay marriage and abortion issues. The thing I hate about the View is the way the the whole group bows to Babs. I have been hoping for a retirement announcement from Walters and instead Joy and Elizabeth are leaving. Is Whoopi far behind? How long will the show last? Sherri Shepard serves the comedic uninformed clown role. She cannot anchor the show. They need a few brains to balance her out regardless of the brains political leanings. I agree with Marksnprmo that replacements should come from the middle ground. It would be more interesting.

With all the liberal, Food Stamp, Obama supporting trash talkers on that show, The View should be happy to have a common sense, level headed talker like Elisabeth.
“We must spend our way to prosperity” – yeah that sure works, thanks for your brillance Whoopi.

She co-owns the show and is, along with ABC, their immediate bosses. If they are going to bow to anybody…LOL

Moderates equal viewership/hitship suicide. Unfortunately, now that we’re gearing our news and infotainment toward the “hits” on news stories, nobody wants to read the latest from the Persian Gulf, compared to the latest tidbits from Lindsay Lohan and Chris Brown & Rihanna. The “mainstream” web-media is feeding us what we’re hittin’ on. It’s an ugly reality (for ALL of us to think about), but it’s true.

When EH DOES go, would like to see Ali Wemtworth & Megan McCain. I am sure the denial today was for saving face. She will announce she is leaving by May 15th.
I want the panel to stay balanced, and hopefully they will get someone who is more informed than Elisabeth.

That would actually be Barbara, who tends to lean middle of the road conservative, especially on law & order and some fiscal matters (see her enthusiastic support for Michael Bloomberg, for example). On social matters she tends to be more liberal leaning.

Sherri is socially/religious conservative; political liberal.

    Joy & Whoopi are liberal.
