HomeTVCNNCould Elisabeth Hasselbeck Land at CNN? Luke Kerr March 21, 2013 7 Comments Is CNN's Jeff Zucker interested in snapping up The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck? According to Page Six, the cable suit wants the talking head to join the CNN family. We hear CNN honcho Jeff Zucker is interested in seeing her join his cable channel. A source told us, “They’re definitely interested.” I bet this makes more than a few of journalism graduates wish they'd eaten bugs on Survivor, instead of learning the inverted pyramid. Besides, why torture CNN viewers in the same manner in which ABC viewers have been tortured for so many years? Aren’t there enough annoying talking heads on cable? Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Wendy Williams……why add to that? Log in to Reply RedChair March 21, 2013 I can’t stand that Hasselbeck ‘woman’. I know Zucker mis-handled Conan/Leno transition, and was able to crawl out of NBC gracefully. Now that’s he’s at CNN, he’s again confusing ‘names’ with talent. I really miss the days of William F. Buckley, who was a real conservative that was entertaining to watch and you didn’t have to hate him if you disagreed with him. But people like Hasselbeck do not display intelligence, and intelligence is what I seek in a news program or network. (BBC and CBC, anyone?) She displays plenty of intelligence, but you disagree with it, so…mirror, anyone? Log in to Reply fmat55 March 21, 2013 Even though I don’t like most of Elisabeth’s views, I actually she’s a good person. She’s not mean-spirited like Ann Colter or Wendy Williams. Log in to Reply angrierblackerman March 21, 2013 I don’t care for her views, but I think she is a decent host…which would make her totally WRONG for Jeff Zucker’s reboot of CNN. He is trying to make the ailing “news” network more like Fox. If you notice, he is beginning to dismantle the structure of the place. Get rid of the minorities is alwahs his first step in turning something around, then eschew actual journalistic pieces for more fluff and editorializing roundtables a-la Fox News Channel. Elizabeth would be so much better on something like OWN or Lifetime or WE, she is too good for CNN (Cable NON-News) in my opinion! Log in to Reply pferrando March 21, 2013 Wouldn’t say she’s too GOOD for CNN. I don’t think it’d be a good fit. Why not FOX News? They like younger blond “journalists”. Log in to Reply TV Gord March 21, 2013 I watched Zucker’s first attempt at revamping CNN this week–Jack Tapper’s new show at 4pm eastern–and I wasn’t impressed. I know Jake from ABC, and they were trying to hard to make him into a “personality” like Brian Williams at CNN. Williams does it right (on the superlative Rock Center on NBC Fridays), but it doesn’t work for Jake. Jake was the fill-in host on ABC’s This Week between the hosting by Christiane Amanpour and the return of George Stephanopoulos, and he was much more straight forward. I feel CNN tried too hard to make him into a “personality”. I’ve had high hopes for Jeff Zucker at CNN (FIRE PIERS FREAKING MORGAN!!!), but so far, I am not impressed.
