HLN to Air 40th Annual Daytime Emmys

The Daytime Emmys will once again air on HLN. The cable news channel announced today they will be airing the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday, June 16 from 8-10 pm.

"HLN is the news channel that focuses on stories at the forefront of the American conversation, and daytime programming often tackles those some themes and stories," said Executive Vice-President and General Manager of HLN Scot Safon. "We are so happy to again present the program that honors the best work in daytime."

The 2013 Daytime Emmys should be quite the celebration, considering daytime is in a much stronger place than it has been in years. Will you be watching? Sound off in the comments!

It seems now it's all about the many, many talk shows, judge shows, & lifestyle shows (I hate that term) Angry Ppl should have a choice for entertainment pleasure, not Oprah wannabes, how to comb your hair properly, eat this but stay away from this, sleeping disorders, acne problems, sex problems and it goes on and on, I am so tired of telling everyone how we all should live, think and behave...it's not entertainment but PSAs all the time! Angry This is why I personally have enjoyed The Talk & Ellen because it's a throwback for The Talk...Girl Talk w\Virginia Graham (Yes young but can remember my mom loving her show and laughing out loud because the show talked on woman's issue with comedy) Ellen is more like Mike or Merv shows with guests and skits Love Love

Max Ehrich will give CM a good run for his money this year, because not sure what is going on with Chad but he sometimes seems bored and not as giving when he started on the show. Maybe he's just waiting for his contract to be up, he might be ready to pursue other things in acting, who knows.

Will OLTL and AMC be able to compete for Emmys next year? I don't know much about online series, so I wasn't sure. Is there a separate recognition given to web series?

This is GREAT news! HLN did a pretty good job last tear considering that they only had about a month to pull it off. With 2 months, I'm sure it will be even better! Even tho only 4 soaps are qualified this year, AMC & OLTL can be next year. Then, you have to think about big names like that will show up Queen Latifah & Bethany Frankel, who both have new talkers coming in the Fall. It's good to know that the Emmys have a home BEFORE the nominations are announced.

THEBEST, why do you think AMC & OLTL will qualify next year? The Emmys are for broadcast shows, and those two shows will only be available on the Internet. Unless NATAS amends its rules I believe AMC & OLTL will only be eligible for the Indie Soap Awards, which were created for web-based soap operas a few years ago.

Wonderful news. Of course, I don't think there really was any option but to air the Emmys, especially considering the renaissance soaps have experienced this year. It would be a travesty if they were not aired. I most certainly will be watching.

They have to include AMC and OLTL to the Emmys aswell.

It will be nice to see the candidates. I hope we get some deserving, newer names to the final nominees.

Technically, OLTL will be eligible for Emmys this year, because they aired episodes into 2012.

I hope they can iron out some of the problems from last year's show. The repetitive music that played with each award became pretty annoying by the end of the evening. Also, the inability to show clips was a real disappointment, especially when they should have been paying tribute to departing soaps.

I missed last year's, so I'll need to be sure to tune in or DVR the thing.

Can't wait to see the list of noms. The pre-list, or whatever they are called had some of my Y and R favs.

I still think both Doug D and Sharon C need an Emmy for last year.

Doug because he was just that good, and Sharon because she was just that GREAT with those horrible storylines thrown her way. She had fun with them and was believable.

no one deserves an Emmy more than Doug Davidson.

Hate to break it to you, TV Gord, but the prenoms are already out and no nominations for OLTL this year. Roger Howarth and Kristen Alderson received prenoms but for GH, not OLTL.

Thanks, tmac! I didn't know that!
