Sounds really great! Not sure I like that Vimal and Rama are the ones in an open relationship…just doesn’t ring true for traditional Indian marriage or pairs. They always seemed so concerned about how their families react, so how could they even consider such a thing?

    I can’t wait to see!

@Jillian and Jamey: Cutter doesn’t co-own the new nightclub Shelter with Blair! Cutter manages the place while Blair is the sole owner of the club. I know this because KDP tweeted to me about this when I asked her on her twitter account!

Interested in seeing how the open marriage plays out. Maybe Rama thinks she can have her cake and eat it too but is jealous when Vimal surprises her by landing a hot babe who’s crazy about him!

@guilty pleasure the details TOLN put out on iTunes says:

“Blair and Cutter’s popular new club Shelter places Llanview on the map with DJ’s, singers and cameo roles played by the biggest names in show business today.”

Actually I know of a couple who got married by a pseudo arranged type marriage and they both have others on the side. From the outside, of course, they are faithful and true but they hide what’s really going on from both sets of in laws.

As for Rama and Vimal, I guess I am a bit surprised by them though. I don’t remember: was their marriage arranged?? They seemed really loyal. I’m willing to see how they get ‘there’ though.

OLTL just upped the ante with that Tea scene though.

@Jamey: KDP tweeted to me that Blair OWNS the nightclub while Cutter MANAGES the nightclub when I asked her about the iTunes description on her twitter account two weeks ago! And it wasn’t the TOLN that released that summary on iTunes, it was iTunes that wrote that summary!

Okay, first of all, there is no need for the all caps. I can see perfectly. Secondly, I am sure PP has to approve summaries. We went by the description that is posted on their official iTunes page. You coming on her screaming in the comments is not going to make us inclined to run and change anything. If we hear differently about Shelter, we have no problems changing it.

@Jamey: KDP was the one that confirmed that Blair is the sole owner of Shelter and Cutter manages the club on her very own twitter account to me! I think that the iTunes description kinda got that detail wrong, and PP said in the press release of JWoww’s casting on OLTL that Blair owns the nightclub while Cutter is the con-man! PP had nothing to to with the iTunes decription! Why can’t you take KDP’s word for it over iTunes, since she’s the one that plays Blair on OLTL! Go to her twitter account and see those tweets if you don’t believe me or KDP!

Where the hell is the video? Saw the All My Children one… it was cool, but I want to hear Tea’s filthy mouth! It’s totally not up, if it was. For today’s date, the only thing listed is the First Look that was uploaded last week. WTF!

While I agree that that someone hanging in the background definitely looks to be TSJ, I had suspected the real reason for the pull was the F-bomb Tea/Florencia had dropped and the uneasy reaction it seemed to be getting on the OLTL FB page.

A word about the f-bomb. Heavens knows that dosent bother me, but my mother and alot of people that age are going to hate it. So lets see where that all takes us.

Heaven knows if they have Victoria Lord Riley Burke Riley Buchanan Buchacan Carpenter Davidson Banks saying anything stronger than her usual “Good Lord!”, there’s going to be hell to pay. :)

Lord knows I won’t mind it. I say that word almost as many times a day as I breath, and I’ll probably take a certain twisted glee hearing it out of the mouths of my favorite OLTLers. BUT what I want more than anything is for these shows to succeed in their new venues, and I worry about the feasibility of that if this is the direction they’re headed. I mean, I’ve lost count of the number of complaints I’ve seen on OLTL’s facebook page from older fans disgusted by things as seemingly innocuous as the ladies’ outfits in the new promotional photos – going so far as to say they won’t watch because of it. I’d hate to see their reactions when they hear Tea and whoever else drop an F-bomb.

Sometimes I worry that Prospect Park is taking their motto of, “This isn’t your Grandma’s AMC/OLTL” a little too far.

There’s no chance they pulled it for profanity – regular episodes of both series will feature adult language and possibly some nudity, that has never been a secret. They’re not going to turn around and decide, “gee, we better pull the cursing!”

I feel it is all about context. The scene I saw, Tea was in a crisis moment and was pretty much going out of her head, so it wasn’t inappropriate, it was more realistic of the situation.

As for FB, how many times have we all heard people complain and threaten boycott not having read one page of a supposedly offensive book, not having seen a movie that is supposed to be utterly offensive, wanted to rail and rant about a performance or art piece not having seen it?

I’d rather wait and see before judging quality.

Honestly, I don’t know what people want sometimes. As a writer myself, I couldn’t imagine worrying about what reaction would/could/should be as I sit down to write.

It’s obvious, OLTL and AMC cannot sustain their new shows on their new format reverting back to the formula they once had leading to cancellation. And unless they plan to go back in time and do a period piece (a la Downtown Abbey), they must adapt, grow and yes, even change.

I like to critique things as much as the next person, but it kind of irks me when people are in a snit not having seen one complete episode, based on assumptions. For this reason, I don’t think I could ever write for a soap–I’ll stick to theater. People there tend to be a bit more open minded.

    @MsAgent–

People are fucking crazy. That’s all it comes down to. [Some] Soap fans have got to be the most entitled, over-assumptive, down-right cynical people I have ever come in contact with.

I pay no mind to them. There is seriously something wrong with some of these people. Something so unhealthy that they probably shouldn’t even be watching the shows.

It’s frightening that people act like that in this day and age. It really is.

You’re right about the context. It totally makes sense for Tea to be using that language under the circumstances, and, like I said, I’m not the person who’s going to have a problem with it. And I get where you’re coming from about not knowing what people’s reactions are going to be. I’m an aspiring writer myself, I’ve worked on a soap (though I didn’t write for it), and I’ve often wondered about what I would do on such-and-such show if I was in the Head Writer’s seat… and I’ve always come to the conclusion that I’d never be able to hack it because the tastes of soap audiences can be hard to predict.

That being said, I think the one thing soap audiences can be relied on to expect is classiness and tastefulness. Daytime soap audiences tend to be older and more traditional in their sensibilities, and I think a good majority of them will cancel out of their web browsers the minute they hear cuss words on OLTL or AMC. And that would be disastrous for Prospect Park, since the only audience they’re guaranteed to have on April 29 are the diehard fans following them over from ABC.

These shows can grow and change, but it needs to be in the structure and maturity of the storytelling. Find ways to play and be unique with the format. Stop retreading old stories, and usher these characters (organically and logically, of course) to new and unique places for the genre (which is easier said than done, I know). Like I said, if they’ve got Blair and Tea and Todd dropping F-bombs, I’ll personally enjoy the hell out of it, but that won’t count – in my book, or many other people’s – for “growth and change.” To throw F-bombs into the scripts is just too cheap and easy. It’ll turn people off, and will likely harm these shows’ chances for survival.

(Of course, it’s also entirely possible that the clip in the video was just of Florencia getting a little creative in rehearsal, which I’ve seen actors do while running through their lines on set, only to stick to the script when they’re actually shooting.)

I don’t think it was pulled because Tea left out the f bomb, it’s because they actually showed Trevor St. John, not like in the previous one where his face was blurred

I bet for every older viewer that doesn’t like the direction (cussing) OLTL takes, there will be a younger viewr to take their place. Just my opinion.
