It’s not even like Steve Burton can act. He should go and spend time with his family. So sick of his character already. The women love him, the men are jealous over him. Yeah, right. Ugh. :Sp It will be nice to have Traci back in town. Can’t wait for her to comment on Jack’s relationship with Phyllis. As much as I love Phack, Jack’s loved ones have every reason to be concerned. I knew it wouldn’t take long for Adam and Victor to distrust each other again. But anyway the moments we got were great and it made you see that they really do care for each other. I don’t really need Victoria involved in all this. Billy’s right when he says that Newman and Victor’s approval is Victoria’s addiction. So sick of it! This man arrested her on her wedding day and she still wants to do right by him. It’s annoying! Don’t care for Kevin and Chloe at all anymore. He drives me absolutely crazy and Chloe has become a slut with all of her comments to Chelsea. Take them both off the show PLEASE!! Log in to Reply Mel_O April 20, 2013 None of this sounds the least bit interesting. I thought with MAB gone the show would get good again – like how Frank Valentini was able to revamp GH – but for the most part it’s still pretty dull. I absolutely hate Chelsea and Avery, and can’t believe how much of the show revolves around them now. Chelsea is a selfish con with no redeeming qualities, and don’t even get me started on Avery. Am I the only one who still can’t get past Nick being with Phyllis’s sister!? Phyllis may not be my favorite character but even she doesn’t deserve Nick marrying the sister she hates. How does anyone root for a woman who dates her sister’s husband – because let’s not forget Nick was still married to Phyllis when they got together. And putting aside anything she was doing at the time (aka Ronan), no “moral” character would do that. And isn’t that what Avery is supposed to be? The only bright spot is Shadam, and even they look like they might be coming to an end/thrown under the bus for God awful Chelsea. Log in to Reply LeiLei April 20, 2013 These spoilers make me not want to watch Y&R. Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 April 20, 2013
The only bright spot is Shadam, and even they look like they might be coming to an end/thrown under the bus for God awful Chelsea.
I totally agree with you. Chelsea is an awful character. All she did since she came to the show is get pregnant and live through something with her child. Her first born she wanted to sell, miscarried her second, only to now play a Daddy search with the 3rd one. Chelsea has been on the show for how long!? Barley two years. Awful character. And the way Shadam is written … I don’t know. I feel like Michael Muhney and Sharon Case do what they can with their scenes but these days it’s like Sharon is the ugly duck with glasses no one looks at and who would do everything for her prince that shows no real interest in her. Yeah right … because Avery and Chelsea are now the central heroines!? Log in to Reply hey mon April 20, 2013 Once again, Robert Adamson is the biggest sufferer now that the focus is constantly on Bobblehead and Dylan. Why Josh & Jill would want to waste an A-#1 talent like Adamson to focus on no-emotion Dylan is beyond me. Please, please, have Dylan get involved with organized crime, or something. And for the sake of all that is normal, please bring Phyllis back into Avery’s orbit. No-emotion Nick and no-emotion Dylan are making for some pretty boring TV. Besides, only when Red is present is there even a spark of ‘anything’ in Avery’s ‘presentation’. And does Avery HAVE to be on EVERY day? Log in to Reply pjc722 April 20, 2013 After Friday’s show and now seeing the SPOILERS for the coming weeks I am now more in the side of either getting rid of Dylan or having a solid conclusion with him and Avery. I like Steve Burton and want to see him stick around on the show but the way that the character is being written is dull BY ALL SOAP STANDARDS. MOVE ON! Dylan has been in town for MONTHS. His father came to town only to die and not be buried and all Dylan has done for work is redo Sharon’s kitchen and pick up a couple of shifts at a dead bar. He didn’t even try and cross the line by stealing a kiss with Sharon AND I AM SORRY, that’s what soaps are about … seeing two people come together and create something either magical or just down right WRONG. Now, Chelsea has lied and said the spawn of the spawn of the devil is Dylan’s and this DUMB ASS and the fans are to believe that sex a month ago produced a 4 and a half month fetus! Sure, Dylan can buy it because all hot muscled men are dumb especially when blonde BUT the fans have a calendar and ESPECIALLY since Adam will stop at nothing to figure out the actual conception date. SO we won’t get a SHARON DYLAN AVERY NICK love quad! That SUCKS! Sure, I love Sharon with Adam when it was happening but Adam gave his love to Chelsea and that’s where we should be seeing the story going. Adam pulling out all the stops to REshow Chelsea he can be a good man and Chelsea seeing that listening to a cat burglar who, herself, lied about baby daddy’s (just realized Chelsea and Chloe share the same baby daddy). I am sorry but the show is really boring. Enough with the Dylan Avery soundtrack to make us believe Avery is having a tough time letting go. Enough of seeing Summer try and rape Kyle. Enough of seeing Chelsea opt in or out of telling Adam of their child or Chloe and Kevin stealing from the rich to give to themselves! AND BEFORE PEOPLE JUMP DOWN MY THROAT… I like the show and all the characters and I’m only saying that the program is boring RIGHT NOW because so many stories have either stalled or are in idle at a red light and we’re just watching the same drama over and over again. Admit it, people, because nothing is moving forward. Log in to Reply bishbay April 20, 2013 Well, I’m done watching until SBu is cut or at least goes down to 2x per week. With OLTL returning I needed some extra time, and Jill made my choice easy. A shame because Adam/Victor and a few other stories are excellent. Log in to Reply pferrando April 20, 2013 The problem I’m seeing recently is they are writing the characters to only interact with the same characters. Mix it up. Where are the Phyllis and Avery scenes ? Nick and Sharon? There’s not enough tension on screen. Just Avery and Dylan, and more talking about the couple they WERE. I also like the show, but I think Josh needs a different writing staff. Get rid of Tracey and what her name… Log in to Reply Amtronic April 20, 2013 WAY too much of that Dylan character. Y&R really needs to stop with that song-it grates in my ears and I don’t even watch every episode. As for the limited interaction between various sets of characters, I agree but I have to say, it’s been like this for a number of years and it was worse before (remember when people were complaining of how segregated the Winters’ were?). Still, we’re always told that Genoa City is a small town so it’s surprising that some characters never interact or even see each other. I have yet to see one scene where Neil and Sharon even bump into each other at the coffeehouse, yet she bumps into Dylan, how many times? Log in to Reply david46208 April 20, 2013 @Jillian and Jamey: In your next podcast you have got to talk this Steve “turtle acting” Burton situation. Here is the issue taken from the How Not To Wreck A Soap Testament of the Soap Bible. Douglas 1.7. In verse 7 Douglas Marland preaches: “Build new characters slowly. Everyone knows that it takes six months to a year for an audience to care about a new character. Tie them in to existing characters. Don’t shove them down the viewers’ throats.” They are getting it all wrong with Steve Burton. The prophet Douglas Marland was right when he testified about that one. Can I get a witness! Everything is sappy and forced on the viewers day in and day out when he is on the scene. I don’t care about Dylan. In fact Steve Burton is not bringing any heat to Y&R that says he is worth keeping. Hair models from Passions had more personality than he does on the screen. But ya’ll don’t want hear me now! If Bill Bell was here he would touch SB on the head and say “Go and act no more…” http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/forums/12/01/18/how-not-to-wreck-a-soap-by-douglas-marland On the other hand, the jury is out on the rest of the storylines for may. I’m not wowed nor am I exactly bored. It seems more like a weekly spoiler than a Sweeps month Spoiler. Still all-in-all we are in a better position than last year. Though I might suggest they add Sally Sussman Morina to make a head-writing team. It may be time for a little support. All praises due to the soap God Agnes Nixon. Now Stoney you can give the announcements after the beat selection from the choir. “Can’t write at night. And you wonder whyyyyyyy. Maybe Agnes is trying to tell you something….” Log in to Reply ANGELWENDY15 April 20, 2013 Why is Avery on like every day??? I’m tired of her Perfect cooking Homemaker personality and her sobbing over Dylan was so over-acted. They have to stop with trying to force Dylan , as Mr. Perfect, the great soldier, Faith’s buddy (where did that all come from?) JPF is trying so hard to pump up this character (her favorite actor) that it’s just not working. Rather watch the Adam/ Victor thing, and Billy getting involved with gambling again. There should be more scenes with Phylis and Avery and their rivalry. I also agree Chloe/ Kevin and that whole Robin Hood story is just plain stupid! The only story I really like now is Micheal/ Lauren and dealing with their marriage falling apart. Log in to Reply pferrando April 20, 2013 To quote David…”Still all-in-all we are in a better position than last year.” I soooo agree. I have been a lot more critical of some of the stuff I’ve seen in the past couple of weeks, and I’m still in Josh’s camp but… I think Tracey and Shelly need to be replaced. Bring on Kay and Sally. Tracey for sure had no prior soap writing experience. Shelly, I’m not sure of. Or maybe it was the reverse. Anyway… Jill needs to ACCEPT THE FACT that a lot of the longtime fans are NOT liking the Dylan character being so prominent and front and center. ACCEPT it. Log in to Reply pferrando April 20, 2013 I need to correct myself…I see both have had some experience on the ABC soaps. Checked wiki… But they need to go. Log in to Reply Frosty13 April 20, 2013 I am really glad they have Dylan on here and I really like his character. Hope they keep him and Avery chooses him. Come on, everybody has already slept with everybody, so we need new characters. And I also really want to see Adam and Chelsea back together. As for Kevin, I see this turning him back to his “chipmunk” days, so this could get very interesting! Log in to Reply pferrando April 20, 2013 Frosty, we all like new blood on the show, but it needs to be in small portions. What needed correcting was the writing…not necessarily a parade of new or recast characters. Josh did a good job at refocusing some of the vets who weren’t acting or behaving like themselves. Well done. Kevin is not a chipmunk, he’s a formerly abused kid who had pretty much found himself after his abuse. We don’t want to see this current Kevin/Chloe mess as it continues with how he was written under the last team. Bringing on SB in itself isn’t what’s bothering most on here, but the way he’s been introduced and used far too often at the expense of the other characters. And all the backstory and talking about backstory does nothing for a show that already has 40 years of it’s own story. Log in to Reply ChrisGa April 20, 2013
I wish that Kevin would be killed by a homeowner as he is stealing from them. He drives me absolutely crazy and Chloe has become a slut with all of her comments to Chelsea. Take them both off the show PLEASE!!
LMAO–totally agree with regards to Kevin. Though I will say the Chloe/Chelsea friendship is the only instance in which I find Chloe even remotely tolerable these days. That’s it. TPTB are completely wasting Liz Hendricksen’s considerable charm IMO. The only thing that has me really pumped about these spoilers is Traci being back(how great would it be to have Ash and Traci back full-time?). That said, while I totally get all reservations regarding the Phack reunion I have to say Phyllis is at her most appealing when she’s with Jack(plus my ears get a rest from all of her histrionic shrieking). @Pferrando–totally agree, the lack of interaction among characters on the canvas is making the show and scenes feel rather insular; we’re getting ALOT of two character scenes and it seems to always be the same two characters. @Hey mon–yes, Robert Adamson is getting a very raw deal from TPTB; he was basically reduced to a day player on Friday’s ep, propping up Tyler and two hair models for a total of about three minutes. Guess at the end of the day he’s getting sacrificed for the sake of trying to make far less compelling characters–and their portrayers–like Tyler and Dylan work while talented guys like RA and Max Ehrich get the shaft. Lastly, not at all liking the inevitable reunion of Shadam; looks as though Sharon is regressing for the millionth time to being a clingy, needy and totally dependent basket-case(she’s seemed particularly desperate to get Chelsea out of the picture this week). Not gonna rehash again why I think this pairing is beyond my scope of thinking but it’s apparent they–along with all things Dylan and Avery–are a pet project for the current regime. Log in to Reply RebeccaJ April 21, 2013 The Fishers need to be GONE. The writers have the bordering on those ridiculous Chipmonk days of old and their characters have become nothing short of a joke. Log in to Reply pferrando April 21, 2013 I disagree. I think we need to split Kevin and Chloe up, get Gloria on the screen more, and have them interact more as a family. And when Chelsea stops sounding like Charlie Brown’s school teacher……. Better yet, I will just push my SNOOZE button now. :tired: :tired: Log in to Reply pjc722 April 21, 2013 I just don’t get why the show is constantly showing Avery wavering between nick and Dylan. It’s ripe for Phyllis to be thrown into the mix and not only badgering Avery abt it but taking some pleasure in teasing nick abt it and making Dylan feel guilty. Otherwise this is boring and I was fully on board in the beginning. Why are there two health scares on the show at the same time and both traumatic. Katherine should be Nikki’s support and vice versatile but not at the same time! Don’t get why one is necessary let alone two. The Sharon Adam and Chelsea now with Dylan drama is getting to the point of JUST DO IT AND STOP TEASONG ABT IT. Either Sharon wants Adam or she needs a new man. As for Dylan, I don’t get why he has to be involved in this story when he already has one of his own and jack has nothing big to chat abt and for that matter neither does billy. I could buy Chelsea wanting to keep Adam from the kid IF THERE WAS A REASON TO DO SO!!! Adam was everything she wanted except a man who would follow her anywhere, ie leave gc for Paris. Victoria is a waste of a character right now. Her motivations for anything are ridiculous and why does billy have to apologize for buying a restaurant without asking Victoria when she accepted a job with victor after saying she wanted a famil!! I’m as bored with the show as I am annoyed at the full pace and conservative direction of all the story. It’s as if they are afraid to make something exciting other than showing buff guys half naked Log in to Reply ChrisGa April 22, 2013
Victoria is a waste of a character right now. Her motivations for anything are ridiculous and why does billy have to apologize for buying a restaurant without asking Victoria when she accepted a job with victor after saying she wanted a famil!!
Yeah, she’s quickly ascended to the top of my list of least favorite characters on the canvas right now(the only one I might dislike a little more is Kevin). I’d say her hypocrisy is at an all-time high right now; trying to put Billy on blast for not discussing “buying” the restaurant after she announced, no discussion apparently required, that she was returning to Newman made me really wish I could physically put my hands through a television and throttle the damn stupid outta her. Coupled with the flattest, most lifeless performance–I think AH has actually gotten worse of late–being given on this show right now(and yes, that’s including nuAbby)and you have an almost irreparable situation that needs some serious addressing. Log in to Reply pjc722 April 22, 2013 Oddly, AND FANTASTICALLY, the majority of the posts on here are negative and NO ONE IS CALLING US OUT ON IT!! Some of the “others” must be sulking that they agree with us on the boredom of the show or just can’t seem to find the write comments to make about how BEING DULL ON A SOAP TODAY is the NEW EXCITING from yesteryear. I’ve never been about firing actors on a soap who can clearly act because we’ve seen evidence of it throughout this show. Even under Maria Bell who took NOT BEING CREATIVE to an all time high, the majority of the actors on Y&R have delivered. But I would love to see something dramatic befall Kevin that jettisons the character off the show. It would be even more fantastic to see Victoria either leave town OR the writers write her like the HEATHER TOM Victoria OR the dynamic and tough Victoria who returned from Italy all those years ago and was in the running to run JABOT until Katherine put her finger in the hole and filled it with Jill. BRING back Drucilla! And why hasn’t anyone mentioned Gus having an apparent heart attack? I am tellin’, y’all, that by Friday of this week the character succumbs to a massive heart attack and we see Leslie and Tyler make up with him before he dies. They’ll just leave him in the room because on Y&R they don’t bury parents, they just leave them in the hospital. I am still waiting for Dylan’s dad’s funeral and Avery and Phyllis just left their dad’s dead body. Gus will sadly be placed in that card board box of his and put on the shelf. Log in to Reply ChrisGa April 22, 2013 Lol, I can’t stand Kevin (resolving the ongoing Kevin/Chloe fiasco like yesterday and giving that screen time to Robert Adamson, Max Ehrich or Ignacio Serrichio would make me happy) or Victoria and I think both situations need to be addressed but even with those two issues I’m still enjoying the show more than I have in YEARS. I think the good that JG has accomplished far outweighs some of the weaker material they’ve tried to let play out(and in some cases, such as the Adriana situation, they seemed to acknowledge fairly quickly that it wasn’t working and dispensed with it). And I also don’t think that the lack of psychos, doppelgangers and the like equates to boring(though I admit that the show has lagged a bit in the last week or two). There’s clearly no spark between the two, and this SL of them robbing folks is NOT entertaining. I actually like Kevin, and just feel they need to do more with him opposed to this pointless story. I also preferred him with Jena over Chloe. lMO, since they aren’t working as a couple, they should be involved in better sls, and hooked up with others. Another thing is Chloe’s primary purpose these days seems to be propping Chelsea, while Kevin is being used as comic relief…SMH!! I’d also love to see Gloria given a little more screentime. And SHOCK…it was entertaining watching Chelsea tell Adam that Dylan was the father while he stood there dumbfounded. I liked all the scenes he was in today BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T INVOLVE BACKSTORY WITH AVERY! Take note writers…see how great that works? I’m liking Victoria back at Newman, and for once it’s not about Victor talking down to her. Like they used to be. So after bitching most of last week, and saying WTF about the writing…we are back to a pretty tightly written show. I actually felt sorry for Adam…go figure. It was much better compared to last week’s episodes. It has been proven the last couple of weeks that you can’t have whole episodes of mainly new characters because they can’t carry the entire episode. They are to new and green and viewers haven’t the investment in the characters to produce good TV. Tyler\Lily I’m not feeling this as long lasting relationship….the writers have completely botched this story. Lily being jealous of Lola (which bring her back I liked what I saw) OH PLEASE…not making sense. The writers broke every rule on how to introduce a new character and it’s showing on our TV screens….it stinks. Lily\Tyler should had started slow grow outward…but NO we got manic writers rushed the story to break-up Cane & Lily and ending result will probably be Lane fans will be vocal and it won’t last long. If done right and took their time slowly the writers could had a hit couple. The writers haven’t wrote Tyler very well at all from beginning to now…I have no investment interest in the character of Tyler. Log in to Reply yojoromo4469 April 23, 2013
Tracey Abbott Dylan was too busy mourning his dad to worry about a raincoat for his little man. :~
Actually, DYLAN was being his usual, DUMBER THAN DIRT SELF. If he had even half a brain, he would be able to figure out, that he is not or could not be the father of Chelsea’s baby. This guy is just so bad, as an actor, he would make a good statue somewhere. Log in to Reply pferrando April 23, 2013 Harlee…I am completely there with you. The show works when mostly vets are on WITH a few of the newer characters. I’m still considering both Avery and Leslie “newer” characters as they weren’t featured like they are now until Josh started writing. You throw them all in one show with Dylan, Tyler, Gus and it’s like you are watching a different show, especially when they are featured in new sets/surroundings. That balance with mostly vets driving story along with a couple newbies works. Log in to Reply Frosty13 April 23, 2013 I don’t feel like I’m seeing to much of anyone, but I do agree with you about the way he has been introduced. I would just like to see him as a more permanent character and not used by the other characters like you said. As for Kevin and the “chipmunk”, his latest actions are not far from it, and it seems as though that is the way he wants to go. He is enjoying the thrill of stealing and does not really want to stop, as he told Cloe before. Yes, the past chipmunk was a result of his being abused, but I was just saying the way things are going he could end up going back to that type of behavior, to get the thrill he is looking for. And the backstory always comes back into play, I’ve been watching Y&R for at least 25 years, and the backstories are what these characters are built on. There are usually some scenes of flashbacks to show how the past is connecting the current. So, I have to say the backstory is one of the reasons this show has been on for 40 years. I can’t think of one story where two new characters (Avery and Dylan) story is all back story. I know why…Jill…needed her Dylan character to be liked by the audience. For most of us, we’d rather see Nikki, or Kay, or Jack more. Log in to Reply tedew April 24, 2013 Genoa City citizens I’m not liking much right now: Phyllis … for remaining to be the super hypocrite bashing all else for doing exactly what she has done to extreme. Nick .. for remaining to be the ever so holier than thou Neanderthal thug demanding that others don’t do what he is also doing. (I did like how Sharon threw that all back in his face.) Avery … for remaining to be such a simpering basically not a very interesting character. Victoria … for remaining to be a vengeful self serving creature bent on yet again trying to destroy Adam … the man who literally saved her beloved sainted father. Chelsea … for remaining to be annoying and starting up that hoary chestnut of a baby daddy gambit. Chloe and Kevin… for remaining to be, well remaining to be Chloe and Kevin. I am however getting intrigued by Lauren’s confused and conflicted anguish. But most of these spoilers are not really all that interesting.
