General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Brenda confesses to Michael they never had sex. She was lying about them to get back at Carly. Brenda felt Carly blew everything out of proportion, and now Brenda has lost Jax and everything else that matters to her. She blames Carly for trashing her life.

Brenda explains she found a drunken Michael after the Nurse’s Ball, and took him to her room to sober him up.  Michael ended up naked in her bed, so Brenda spent the night on the couch.  The next morning, she decided she wanted Carly to walk in on them. She ordered food for two and had them charge it to Carly. Then, Brenda crawled into bed beside Michael, and waited for Carly to show up.  Michael is upset Brenda used him.  Brenda apologizes for using Michael, and swears she would never want to hurt his relationship with Sonny.

The Spencer’s and Dante are flying back to Port Charles.  Luke wants to get Lulu to the hospital to have her checked out.  Laura doesn’t want Lulu to feel pressured.  Dante tries again to get Lulu to remember her true past. He brings up their life, and baby. Lulu freaks out at the mention of the baby. Laura switches seats with Dante, and promises Lulu everything will be all right.

Olivia and Sonny are waiting at the airport.  Olivia still doesn’t understand Connie’s decision.  Sonny admits something else is bothering him, and tells Olivia about Michael and Brenda sleeping together.  Olivia wonders if Sonny plans on killing Brenda, but Sonny’s concerned about Michael.

Spin’s babysitting Danny, when Ellie shows up and asks for help in figuring out Maxie’s baby secret.  Spinelli doesn’t understand her need to pry, but Ellie thinks Lulu and Dante have a right to know what’s going on.  Ellie decides the problem is with the baby. She concludes Maxie is afraid to tell Lante the truth.

Connie asks to meet with Maxie, who’s worried about their get together since Connie/Kate hasn't treated her well in the past.  Connie reassures her that she’s been integrated, and is a whole person.  Connie offers Maxie a job, since Maxie has a good eye and ideas.  Maxie agrees, and Connie brings up the issue of the baby. She promises to give Maxie maternity leave, but wonders if Maxie will end up wanting to stay home. Maxie tells Connie she’s only Lante’s surrogate.  Connie promises not to be as nasty as she was before, so Maxie agrees to work for her.

Carly runs into AJ, and tells him she’s trying to find Brenda. She wants to run her out of town.  AJ informs her Michael and Brenda are together, but refuses to tell Carly their whereabouts. Carly grabs a pair of scissors, and advises AJ to tell her.  AJ gives in and confesses Michael and Brenda are at Kelly’s. Carly heads over there, but discovers Brenda has already left.

Olivia and Sonny are thrilled to see Lante arrive. When Olivia tries to hug Lulu, Lulu freaks out.  Luke and Dante explain Lulu’s been traumatized, and has no memories. Olivia is certain some kind treatment will reverse it, and Luke mentions they will take Lulu to the hospital.

Laura tries to comfort Lulu, who understands they all want her to be their loved one. However, she doesn’t know who Lulu is, and feels lost.  Laura gives Lulu a hug.  Dante offers to take Lulu to the hospital, but Laura tells him she will do it.

Maxie comes home, and overhears Spin and Ellie talking about a baby. She becomes angry, but Ellie covers and says they were discussing Daniel.

Brenda runs into Sonny at the airport.

I love the expressions baby Daniel makes when people handle him. At one point when Ellie had him, he gave her this look, like he thought what she said was crazy. Made me laugh.

I'm not hating nuLulu, but I am getting a little tired of the "I don't know who you are schtick". I get that it's only been a couple of days, and I don't know what I would do in that situation, and I should be patient with the story, but it's grating a little. That, and I feel really bad for poor Dante.

Liked the Maxie/Connie scenes. I'm glad they put Maxie back in that world.

I agree. I feel really bad for Dante as well. The direction this story is going to take will be wild.

I am liking this new Connie. I really hope that we get a reboot of Crimson and I am really hoping that RC and FV bring fashion back to PC.

The episode all together was okay.

It was a good episode. I love me some Emme Rylan! LOL

Doesn't Brenda have a kid?! Get home to that child, now, woman! See ya. (Not a fan of Brenda). But I have to say it's pretty sad and pathetic, in a way, that when Olivia is talking to Sonny and he mentions the Brenda/Michael thing that the first thing that comes to mind is that Sonny will try and kill her! Sure, it's a soap and he's a mobster but after watching everyone say that Connie?Kate should be in the hospital (and then goes) wouldn't it be Sonny's turn to be told to take IN HOUSE MASSIVE ANGER MANAGEMENT classes if that's how people think he will react?

I just think its funny since most of us would say "are you going to kill her" and mean YELL but with Sonny it's are you ACTUALLY going to do it. LOL

So here we go from annoying Sabrina whining about Patrick to Ellie whining about Maxie. I wish that Britt wasn't part of this mix because I would love to see Maxie take charge and just blow Ellie out of the water! This is Maxie, all she has to do is sit down & come up with a scheme to rid Ellie not only from her apartment but from Spinelli's life if Ellie doesn't watch it. AND that's the fun part to Maxie is how she goes about doing things to get her way. It's always a fun adventure but in the end our Maxie always wins.

(I was sort of hoping that after all this double personality and stuff with Connie that after she broke up with Sonny she would have moved back to NYC to restart Crimson. Honestly, when you think about it fashionistas would never take fashion advice from ANY one of the personalities and NYC would be the perfect place to restart that career. And who is bankrolling CRIMSON? Jax isn't part of it and Todd ain't showing up in town again. DId I miss that?)

Sorry but my dislike for Nulu is increasing. Not thrilled with this story at all. But I do feel bad for Dante. DZ is knocking it out of the park! Glad that Maxie is back at Crimson. The Konnie/Maxie scenes were good. Carly/AJ....zzzzzzzzzzzzz same old. Can only take so much of the childish bickering.

Oh I feel sorry for Dante. But telling his wife that doesn't have a clue who he is that they are expecting a child wasn't a smart move. And Olivia's welcome home at the airport was just too much. Amnesia or not, a mother-in-law like Olivia would be something that gets on my nerves rather quickly.

I don't like Olivia getting all cozy with Sonny and constantly being involved in what's going on with him. If they go back to a potential Sonny/Olivia pairing we'll get Crazy Connie back sooner than we think.
And that would be pretty bad because I'm actually starting to warm up to the new and improved Connie. Her scenes with Maxie might just be my favorite of the episode.

Don't get why everyone has to want to kill Brenda for sleeping with Michael. Even if she did sleep with him ... that's a legit reason to kill her now? That storyline is written pretty bad in that department and reminds me of the old Guza days and Sonny's marriage to Claudia.
I liked the Michael/Brenda flashbacks and that she admitted to using him to drive Carly crazy. Well that b*tch deserved it!

But I do have to say that I love Carly's interactions with AJ. Can't get enough of these.

I don't care for Ellie/Spinelli at all.

PJC - I think Connie still has 1/2 ownership in the Metro Court which is where, I would think, she had the money to re-start Crimson

I also hate that everyone's easy answer to Brenda is "are you going to kill her" REALLY!?!?!

I hated that Sonny told someone else, I mean come on you know your son is embarassed but Sonny decided to be a yenta.

I like NuLu and I just wish Laura would pull Dante aside and tell him that she has gone thru this before with Lucky - I get that Dante wants everything to be back to normal in a nano-second but telling her about a baby that's a no-no - Maybe Liz can fill Dante in on what to expect when someone you love comes back with no memories

Ravennite - I was also thinking that Liz would be a great resource for Dante in this story. She has been through it before and could be a good shoulder to lean on (platonically with no hint of sexual interest by either party!). I felt that Laura was too judgmental about Dante and too quick to shut him out. She could have tried to calm Lulu in a way that included Dante rather than shutting him out. Maybe it's because she doesn't know Dante all that well. Maybe it's because she missed so much of Lulu's life and subconsciously feels that this is her second chance to be a real mom to Lulu rather than a catatonic one.

I also hated the automatic Sonny is going to kill Brenda crap. And when Olivia said "I'm glad you didn't kill her, not that I would blame you if you did" I was like "say what now?" Since when is it okay to kill an adult woman that sleeps with your adult son? All these people coddling Sonny and acting like what he does to people is justified is ridiculous! One of the things I always loved about his relationship with Brenda is that she would call him out when he was wrong or being vengeful/crazy. Carly always used Sonny's murderous tendacies to her benefit, which is one of the reasons I never liked him with Carly. I guess I just like the relationships where the good person is always encouraging the bad person to become a better person(hence my Liason love and my Robin/Jason love).

So Olivia, the trick that was sleeping with someone younger than her son!, said she would have picked up a blunt object to hit Brenda with for sleeping with Michael?

Olivia, the character who has no purpose on the show, says she doesn't blame Sonny if he killed Brenda?

But this trick didn't pick up a blunt object to hit Sonny with after he SHOT HER SON! Man I wish she was pack up and go back to Brooklyn, stat.

While Dante was out there hugging his mother and stuff, why couldn't he hurry and say, Lulu lost her memory? Instead we had to witness Olivia running up to Lulu with a bunch of 99 cent balloons scaring the mess out of her!

Ellie is officially a stalker. Why is she so concerned about Maxie's baby? She eavesdropped on Britt and Maxie's convo when she should have knocked on the door and gave them the results. Instead she was listening. It's none of her business about that baby. So what if it is Spinelli's. She and Spinelli are only dating. They are not engaged or even talking marriage. Also I know she don't care about Lante. Ellie and Felix harassing pregnant women is not entertaining.

Why didn't Brenda or AJ remind Carly that when she was Michael's age, she had her legs in the air humping her step-daddy in a cabin!

The show has been a bit dull since the Nurses Ball episodes but every soap has their high and low times. I feel bad for Dante also, but I guess this amnesia story is for ER to establish the role as Lulu in her own style. And looking ahead, the after-mat when she finally does remember and realizes the baby Maxie is carrying isn't her and Dante's will be great.

Have a feeling there may be a Sonny/Olivia/ Connie triangle??? Laughed over Carly and AJ. They have a dynamics between them.

Curious to see what roles the OLTL threesome will play. Have a feeling KA will be Franco's daughter and ME may be related somehow to Caleb or Stephan Clay, which is why they had Sam take in Rafe. I will miss RH as Todd, the character was one-of-a-kind. Wish he could appear both on OLTL (since it has a lot of off time), and GH. I read an article on Erika Slezak in SOD and she again says how much she loves working with Roger. You can tell they are close and have that "actors" connection. She even said she never felt that way working with Trevor when he played Todd. It would be great if he could appear on OLTL when needed, and then on GH (it will have to be a new character, a Cassadine?)

Getting tired of Ellie's antics about Maxie's baby. Someone on this board mentioned about all the lines on her forehead and now I can't help looking at it. For a young girl, she has lot of lines, but she has a wide forehead (so do I) so I think a wispy bang would look great on her.

Sounds like KA as Serena Baldwin and RH will be a Cassadine/Quartermaine. Apparently a Q was with a Cassadine many many years ago? I would love Todd to move into the Q mansion. Can you imagine his scenes wirh Tracy, Alice, even some Monica?

I still dont get why not have John be John Smith? Same character, different name, no more back story? Just continue where he left off? PCPD needs cops and he had good chemistry with Anna.

Not particularly fond of the decision to make the Brenda/Michael tryst an outright scheme by Brenda instead of a spur of the moment decision to stick it to Carly when she showed up and jumped to conclusions.
Worked better as some spontaneous Brenda mischief than a grand machination, that she didn't think thru to consequences beyond Carly.
This version doesnt quite ring true.

Cosign just about everything you said.

Recently, I started to actually like Olivia. Put her in Sonny's orbit however, and imho, she's intolerable.

I don't like NuLu or the storyline. I already find the girl annoying. Then again, I never was a fan of Lulu. I sure hope this girl can play her without the bulging eye thing JMB used to do. It drove me nuts.

Good to see BrenDUH is still acting like a 14 year old. If I were Carly, I would go after the bitch's son. You know, the one she wasn't aware she had, then left Sonny for because he couldn't remember the kid had a name and she wanted a better SAFER life for?? Yeah, that one. Who's babysitting him while she's here playing Kim Kardashian with Michael? She's disgusting, I never could stand her. Please go back to Italy, pronto. And feel free to take all the Falconeri's and Corinthos' with you.

I liked Ellie when she 1st got here but she's falling down my list pretty quick. She needs to back up off of Maxie. Why in the blue hell is Maxie still living with her?? I would've kicked her out the SECOND I thought she was being too nosy. I'm ready to see Maxie put her in her place.

As always, baby Danny stole the show. He is just too adorable! Love Love

Is Guza back to writing this show? I mean in the last week we've had at least 3 people harassing a mentally ill woman because she broke up with someone on her shrink's advice about her well-being and also everyone thinks it's okay to be thinking about killing Brenda. I'm back to being fed up with the show again.

After Ellie's accident she accused Maxie a couple times of tampering with her car. They should not feel up to living with each other. Either Maxie should have chucked her out, or Ellie should have left if she was in such fear of Maxie messing with her car. It made no sense for either of them to have sex with Spinelli in the same apartment during all this drama, and it makes no sense for Ellie to be so interested in Maxie's baby drama. I too, liked Ellie when she first got here, but she's starting to wear on my nerves. At least Maxie's hair is back to looking pretty again.

I'm giving NuLulu a shot, but I haven't liked the character of Lulu since she first showed up as a teen and messed with Georgie and Dillion and then all the young guys in town had to all be made to have the hots for her.

All the character losing/rearranging from the PP stuff has hurt the show in my opinion. It was bad enough when SB left the show and it changed the 2 storylines and the McBam stuff had to be changed/put on hold in order to make Sam a widow, but this feels like there's a gaping hole where at least 3 storylines should have been.

I too, feel sorry for Dante. I liked him better when he first came on and was Dominic, when he was full of smiles and corny bad jokes, before Sonny shot him and he covered up for him.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, whoever is in charge of picking out the babies and youngest kids on this show is great at it! Like so many of the babies from the past few years, the twins who play Baby Danny are just adorable and so bright.

Disclaimer: I'm not what's considered a die hard fan, I've not watched GH for all that long. My background is one of a casual audience, but one whose background lies in watching Another World after grade school in Jakarta (it was the only thing on at the time when Indonesia had only one English-language television station). That being said, I still feel like using the interwebs as a Speaker's Corner of sorts for my opinions on the storylines discussed in this episode's Observations.

So let's start with the Spencers and Dante:

I'm surprised that some people are poo-poo'ing Emme Rylan's role of Lulu so quickly - she's only had a handful of episodes to show her skill. Give the actress and the writing staff the benefit of the doubt. It can't be easy for any professional to slip into a known role, let alone a role that's connected to such soap opera icons as Luke and Laura. However, I do believe in what Carlivati and the staff at GH are doing here - they've hit the reset button on the character and given Rylan the ability to make the character her own in a given grace period while the character has brain freeze. To be completely honest, I wasn't sold on the character of Dante pre-brain freeze, but I feel as though the actor who plays him has stepped up in the current storyline post-brain freeze. In addition, I'd also like to note that I really appreciate the chemistry being fostered between Francis and Rylan - those small scenes together as mother and daughter are enough to keep me inclined to watch the show.

Next, let's look at Michael, Brenda, Carly, AJ:

I'll be the first one to admit that I have a total bias when it comes to Laura Wright playing the role of Carly. In my eyes, she's soap opera crack. I can't get enough of her over-the-top maternity, the venom she spectacularly spits toward AJ, and pretty much any scene she's in, with any other character. With that said, I enjoy Carly-AJ scenes the best. Those scenes are especially good in that it shows the flaws in those characters best. While those flaws out in the open, they also bespeak their strengths. For example, Carly's gone cray-cray about the situation, but it also underscores the character's passionate nature and maternal instincts. I really enjoyed seeing Carly take the bait as AJ needled her with his barbs about Brenda and Michael.

Thirdly, let's move on to Connie and Maxie:

This is a start of a good thing and an interesting plot line. I appreciate what the writing staff are doing here by giving Kelly Sullivan something to react to besides mental health issues. The chemistry between Sullivan and Storms was great. Again, I appreciate what Carlivati and his motley crew are doing in this scene by setting something up that gives both the characters something else to do besides the pregnancy plotline or the Sonny plotline. Admittedly, they're all interconnected as those plots were addressed in the scene itself, but I'm just happy to see both actresses being given chances to add layers to their characters.

Lastly, a discussion about Spinelli, Ellie and the wide-ranging baby drama:

So here comes another admission: Spinelli, much like Carly, is one character I love unconditionally on this show. As a nerd myself, it's refreshing to see a nerd in a soap opera. As such, it's easy for me to identify with the character. Bradford Anderson just plays the unique role so well. In addition, I like the character of Ellie as well. My only hope is that Emily Wilson is given more than just the baby drama to work with on the soap (I really appreciated Carlivati & Co. giving her a chance to work with Jane Elliot and Sean Kanan during the relish-gate episodes). The scene worked and it pushed the multiple baby-related storylines forward rather than keeping it static. I have no idea how the secrets about Maxie's baby and Britt's baby will see the light, but I respect and trust the writing staff to allow the actors to have scenes that don't relate to that specific storyline. Indirectly related to this storyline, I might add, is the Sabrina character. I have no doubt that Teresa Castillo is a solid actress. However, it is my opinion that she has been pigeon-holed into this crush-turned-romance storyline. It makes the character of Sabrina one of the least dynamic roles on General Hospital. I would really like to see the writing staff allow Castillo to branch out in Port Charles and provide her with more layers. Otherwise, the role is just too lacklustre on a soap filled with dynamic roles (which is likely why, currently, there aren't that many people who like the character). If the role isn't given more substance, and the character of Sabrina will either fade into the background, or, worse, become loathesome to watch. No one wants that, least of all the writing staff. I trust Carlivati and company will do the right thing.

So there you have my thoughts on the episode. I'll get off the digital pulpit and allow someone else to speak now.

What I don't want to see is the character of Ellie being ruined for the sake of Spixie.. She is the first character I have loved in a long time- she is quirky and adorable. If she finds out about the baby I hope she just tells. I would love to see her paired with someone else..

I love the crazy chemistry with Carly and AJ.. I find the two of them to be so interesting and love seeing them together..

Why does everyone think it is just OK for Sonny to kill everyone. Hey Sonny the barber gave you a bad haircut- you gonna kill him.. Blah- I love MB and when taken from becoming one note mob guy I love him.. But yes Olyvia has also warn thin on me..

As always- Yeah for Baby Danny! He just needs to be in every scene being held.. So cute!

I love Emme Rylan as an actress, and I'm sure she will make the role of Lul her own, it will just take some time. We had seen Julie in the role for seven years. And I'm sure it's particularly hard for people who watch both GH and Y&R, since she was just there as Abby. I will admit, her hair reminded me of Abby. I wish they'd do a part in the middle, like the way Julie often wore her hair. I will also admit Emme had the best chemistry with Genie, love their mother-daughter connection, it came out naturally. I'm thinking it has to do with the fact they already know each other from Y&R. It's a pleasure to see these two on screen together again.

I do think a Dante/Lulu separation is looming with the actress change. But I'm thinking that's a good thing.

I like SOlivia, they have good chemistry. And I also think it looks like there's a Connie/Sonny/Olivia triangle brewing, which I REALLY hope will happen. That way it will be an even playing field, two Bensonhurst bitches fighting, and I have no doubt it will get dirty, over Sonny. I would totally be rooting for Sonny in that fight.

Unfortunately, I do feel that Brenda, and S&B were made to look bad in all this. I was also VERY surprised that they made it into Brenda having planned all of that. I just thought she has played it by ear when Carly came in. This did make her seem pathetic, and just plain stupid. She had to know Sonny would hear about it.

I also don't like that the show is minimizing Sonny's feelings for Brenda in comparison to Connie. Come on, and please! This Connie character doesn't hold a drop of wax from a candle to Brenda. I don't like them re-painting things. And Sonny saying to Olivia on Michael: "So what" ? Excuse me?

I have to say, Laura Wright and Sean Kanan must love to work together! Their chemistry is off the screen! Loved when AJ said: "Are you sure you wanna take away the last chance of ever doing it with me?" and Carly being sickened by him all the time! Bwahaa! Laughing out loud

Maxie is getting uber-annoying again. I'm glad she's getting her job back and back into the fashion world where she belongs. Although it seems silly now that there is a faux Kate in the helm. What was that about Connie NOT knowing whose baby Maxie is carrying? Dante is her cousin, lol! I dislike all the references people keep making to Maxie about the baby "not being hers" and then her pondering how much she wants to keep it. What a treacherous wench!

Ellie is not annoying me, I'm more thinking like why are you wasting your time on a loser like Maxie.

Anyway, I kept staring at what Danny did the whole time of the SpinEllie conversations. What a GEM this little baby is Smile Just love him! There's a poster in here called "JASAMMABBY", I love their picture too, and keep thinking it's little Daniel saying all the things they're saying Laughing out loud

The few people who were talking about "killing" Brenda were doing so either metaphorically or blowing off steam.

When Carly said she asked Sonny to kill Brenda, she was confessing what she SAID not what she really meant (or knowing Carly, she might have really meant it ... LOL) or that actually expected Sonny to do.

Olivia didn't say she would kill Brenda. She said if she had caught a woman with Dante at that age with a woman who had been his stepmother, she would have conked her over the head.

I may be wrong, but Sonny never said he was actually thinking about killing Brenda.

Ah, literalism...

Sonny needs to throw some barware and get over it.

Ellie is adorable, but she needs to kick Spinelli to the curb and go after Milo, Michael or Dante.

I'm looking forward to nuLulu getting a new love interest.

Sonny has never agreed to kill anyone for Carly. I think after twenty years they know each other better than they know themselves. She would never have asked if she even remotely thought he might do it. And yes if I walked in on my sons and his former step mother post sex there would be a brawl. Carly is dead on - Brenda was an authority figure in his life. That Olivia should have been out for blood after sonny shot Dante doesn't negate the disgusting mature of Brenda's actions. I'm glad she didn't undress him and I don't care that she planned it, I'm just bothered by the fact that she didn't tell Michael before he left the hotel room. It's worse if she knew about the rape but I can't recall if she was told.

Sabrina is in the wrong story and she's on too much though I'm not sure where she might fit otherwise. I could see Ellie with Michael as I'm betting KA will be brought back as nuMorgans GF. I thought that might have been why they involved her in pick pickle-gate.

Love Carly and aj.

Michael with Sabrina! No way I want him stuck with KA again, and I really think Patrick is way too old for her. Hey as mentioned above we all know Robin is alive, so we are never going to be invested in Patrick with anyone else until that is resolved.
I like Ellie & Spin! Please keep them together & let Maxie find love with anyone else. Why not Dante? I don't think NULU is looking like they are staying together.

Oh and actually I would have been invested in Patrick with Liz knowing robin set it in motion and the make sense in many ways. Patrick is too old for Sabrina and even though I think they will redeem britt I can't see Patrick ever being with the daighter of the woman that tried to kill Anna and put Robert in a coma even without him knowing about robin

I can see them moving toward putting Dante and Maxie together. But it will have to take a while--he's too in love with Lulu to give up easily. I liked Ellie from the beginning, but she's too invested in Maxie's baby and getting annoying.

I am not, nor ever have been a Sonny fan, but he hasn't bothered me as much lately. I don't like him, but I'm approaching neutral.

History question: did Sonny hurt/kill one of Scotty's kids?

EET, I know you said Ellie, but I really like her with Spin, so I would prefer they move Sabrina into Michaels orbit. They seem like they would have a bit more chemistry. I love the chem between the nerdiness of Spin & Ellie.
Another reason is I just saw absolutely no chemistry with CD & KA, and don't want that pairing back.
