I really liked the last Kyle and I adored the little Kyle. But this guy is cute and he seemed to fit right in. He reminded me of Ethan on GH.

I loved Blake Hood. Good actor, looked liked a young Peter Bergman and MUCH better looking than this new guy.

I liked Blake Hood, why does JFP want to recast every one?

He was decent, but he needs a haircut. We went from a "sharp" looking Blake Hood to a guy who looks like he could play in a dive bar rock group. I also couldn't help but wonder that if Josh Griffith decides NOT to reveal that Summer is Jack's child that perhaps part of the reason for this recast was to physically beef up Kyle so that the age difference between Kyle and Summer is silently underscored by the height difference between them. That said, I also thought it looked odd with nuKyle being so much bigger and broader than his father and his uncle. Bottom line, I'd be ok with this recast if they started by getting him a shorter haircut.

I liked Blake Hood and thought he had chemistry with everyone he worked with. This guy is not as hot and not as talented. Still not sure why they recasted?!

BRETTYBOY, your right about JFP. Im still mad that she got rid of glow-worm and the Newman Ranch. What was that all about. And now Victoria and Billy got a new look from Father Knows best. She better watch someone dosent re-cast her or give her a make over. There are alot of things that she's done to tick me off but, what can you do.

I'm glad Billy and Vicky's is gone. I didn't see a problem with the NEwman Ranch though...or GloWorm.

As for NuKyle...I actually missed the episode he was on. So IDK yet I'mma have to go watch it online I guess.

Blake Hood was a find and had an easy lightness about him that the show benefited from. He played the well-meaning but spoiled grown up rich kid perfectly. I'll miss him.

Blake Hood LOOKED like an Abbott. Meaning he looked like he could have been Peter Bergman's son, Jerry Douglas' grandson and Billy Miller's and Beth Maitland's nephew. This Hartley Sawyer young man looks like Eileen Davidson's Ashley. And we all know that Ashley was not a "biological" Abbott. Laughing out loud

Seriously, Blake Hood was fine in the role. But, in my opinion, he was being wasted. I hope this recast portends bigger (and better) things for this legacy character.

Meh. I like Blake Hood. Seems like change for the sake of change.

I was fine with the guy we had as Kyle. This guy looks way too old to me.
I never understand why they just don't leave things alone. Now, they could get rid of dull DYLAN and I would be fine with that.

The problem with most new regimes is they make the same mistakes that got them fired before. I think Jill can be talented and I have seen that talent on display but her vision is taking Y&R further away from what made it special in the first place. She is making Y&R a new show, with new sets, new actors, new music, new directing style. It's GH 2.0. That's fine if you're a die hard GH fan but I'm not. Y&R has always been my show. There were reasons for that and those reasons don't really exist anymore.

If you'd place Blake, Peter and Hartley side by side...you'd think Blake and Peter were related. Same skin tone and hair color.

I've haven't seen enough of Hartley to see if he "acts" like an Abbott, but Blake had that down too. Kinda playful and exaggerated at times...a lot like Billy. And yes he was very handsome and had a unique look.

I don't get Jill and her casting. I find it to be one of her weaknesses. It almost seems like everything she does do is done in haste...

My initial reaction to her coming aboard last year really hasn't changed at all since the only change I like is the writing, and that's Josh.

Please, please, please. No more recasts. Please no more new characters for now.

This how JFP operates. I hated what she did to GH and knew I wouldn't be happy with her work on Y&R. I am not surprised that her choices continue to disappoint longtime fans.

I actually love that Josh has turned it back to it's character driven roots. I think an EP like Ed Scott would have done a marvelous job working along side Josh while keeping true to Bill Bell's vision for Y&R. It's not just the Jill is the EP, she has fired a lot of the old behind the scenes guard and brought in people she worked with at GH. From directors all the way down to music composers. It's like a fuck you to Bill Bell who trusted all these long time employees.

BRAVO, Restless Fan! I wish I could have stated it better. Smile While The Young & the Restless may be "better" than it was under the helm of Lynn Marie Latham and Maria Arena Bell, it “feels” like a different show to me. And one that is in no way reminiscent of or as interesting as the Y&R I adored from 1976 to 2006. Y&R, more than any other daytime drama, always had a very distinct voice and style. That voice has been missing for YEARS. And trying to contemporize it by doing away with what made it distinct and watchable from the beginning is a sure way to accelerate its end.

I agree that Jill Farren Plelps is talented and can produce compelling soap opera, but I must say that of all the changes she has made - the sets, the recasts, the Hollywood Heights invasion/infusion of young talent, Steve Burton's woefully boring and out of sync character - the most egregious and the one that I cannot abide is doing away with the CLASSIC SOUND of The Young & the Restless. I miss that original music so very much. The Y&R music that was so compelling and intriguing in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s really stood the test of time and was as much a character of the show as the actual characters as it carried us through and punctuated some wonderful written, acted and produced scenes.

I still watch, primarily out of a 37 year habit. But I have not been compelled or intrigued in a very, Very, VERY long time. All the players are still out there - with the exception, of course, of William J. Bell, Sr. And those players should (and could) still be producing what I feel was the greatest show of the genre because of how consistently it was able to maintain its quality. Sigh...

I Say: Oh snap! That is the best assessment. Might I add that the denture looking mouth movements do not help either. Imeone like say

@Restless Fan: You got it right. The last decade soaps move away from the character driven stories that were the genesis of the soap. Even in the 80's and 90's there were some soaps that moved away from that and went completely into the plot-driven madness. JER was best known for this.

As I said I'm a Soapublican. Bill Bell, Agnes Nixon, Douglas Marland, Sally Sussman Morina, Lorraine Broderick and Claire Labine are members of my soap party.

Not a fan of the nuKYLE. He doesn't do anything for me and he stiff acting... even if after 2 episodes... bored me to death. With the character of Kyle, he is supposed to possess the traits of both his parents. As many flaws as the character of Diane had, she was a wonderful and caring mom and Jack was always a ladies man but a good person at heart (under Peter Bergman).

With Blake, when he entered a room as Kyle, there was a fun feeling that came over me that he's going to have that sexy class clown mystique to him. His banter and friendship with Abby (the former Emme Rylan) was one of the BEST aspects of the show that started under Maria and stayed until recently.

Sadly, I don't think either NEWBIE has what it takes to bring us back that FUN.

Jill has turned the show around but she's forgetten to steer the show in a str8 line and she's making a 360 turn now.

Is the long-ish hair supposed to be a compromise to those people who keep asking/requesting the return of Keemo? That's a Keemo-type hair style. Those who may not know/remember who Keemo is...I'm sure there must be some clips on You Tube.

Yeah Keemo!! The son of Jack that they never talk about. Since he was born during Jack's Vietnam days he would about 40 and I'm sure they don't want to give Jack a son that age.

I know what SORASing is, but what is the euphemism for making a character younger after you made him older? I am tired of all the recasts and I pray and wait until JFP is recast. The show is mundane and the stores are too similar. Plus her recasts seem to be more nepotism on her part rather than based on talent. I loved the old Kyle, thought he was a perfect mini Jack. This new Kyle looks like a messy college sophomore. I hate what she has done to the show. Definitely not for the better.

I think the "opulence" of Y&R is gone...it somehow feels a bit cheap now, and homely. The same thing happened to GH once Frank V and Ron C took over. Then again, GH started with that hometown feeling, then we got the slick, cosmopolitan Guza years. Everyone dressed well, had great hair, makeup, etc.

Now it's back to homely and JC Penny clothes under Frank and Ron. I think this is happening to Y&R, it's just a completely different show. More comedy, faux witty dialog, less serious and dramatic moments.

Still a great show, just kind of like Parallel Universe Y&R

I miss Blake Hood. The new guy looks lilke every other model the ABC soaps cast over the years. Y&R looks and feels like a cheap version of its former self. While it's definitely not as bad as it was under MAB, it's just blah now...

So my dilemma is:

Under MAB- Writing = C-
Production = B+

Under JFP- Writing = B
Production= C-/D

So it either looked and sounded like Y and R under MAB with characters acting like they were in another universe...and now it's characters acting like themselves but they've all been transported to another show.

@SoapSnob; From your mouth to God's ear! I really miss that classic Y&R sound that separated this show from the others. In fairness I have heard some beautiful new scores but they just don't feel like they belong on this show. The music really altered the overall personality of Y&R more than any other change that has been made. I actually tweet and the recently found the new composer of Y&R on twitter. His name is RC Cates and he was with GH for 22 years. He seems like a really cool guy and for all appearances right now he seems open to the idea of re-introducing some of the old background music. One of his latest tweets to fans said, "we're working on that. Thanks."

I think the biggest gaffe of all right now is that the changes have been made abruptly and not seamlessly. Bill Bell was a pro at updating his show without calling attention to it. Jill on the other hand has a track record of taking shows over, over-hauling them, while initially boosting ratings and then when the dust settles you get what's happening right now. The adversity sets in with a lot of fans and over time the ratings slide backwards again. Sadly the changes don't seem to end. Y&R used to feel like a close friend I was kicking back with even in the chaotic MAB years. Now I don't recognize it and that old friend fell isn't there for me.

Technically there is nothing wrong with Y&R. It's produced well BUT the personality of the show is completely different. Right now, I'm not sure THIS Y&R is going to be a long time friend. That has yet to be determined.
