HomeTVOne Life to LiveVictor and Tea Still Have Explosive Chemistry on One Life to Live Luke Kerr May 1, 2013 One Life to Live, TV Recap 31 Comments Episode 2 of TOLN's One Life to Live picked right up with all the juicy drama from the previous day. Dani’s (Kelley Missal) family and friends rushed to the hospital to check on her status. While they were out in the hall, Victor (Trevor St. John) snuck into her room to be by his "daughters" bedside. Tea (Florencia Lozano) was shocked to find out from Matthew (Robert Gorrie) that Dani had been doing drugs. Todd (Roger Howarth) lashed out at Tea for her parenting skills. As Todd continued to rip into Tea, Victor burst into the room and threw his brother against the wall. Victor and Tea’s reunion was incredible. They haven't lost an ounce of their TV magic. However, the rest of the Manning-Lords barely reacted to Victor coming back from the dead. You'd think Viki (Erika Slezak) would have been more concerned with figuring out how her baby brother survived, than having an impromptu editorial meeting with Jeffrey King (Corbin Bleu)! Viki's chat with Jeffrey was to ensure he'd covered all the bases for his expose on Dorian (Robin Strasser). Viki's arch nemesis had shown up at Llanfair earlier, demanding The Banner print retraction. Viki wasn’t buying Dorian’s claim that she gave the documents on C.I.A. black sites to her superiors months ago. The publishing tycoon said the American public had a right to know what Dorian was up to. It's so good to see these two at each other's throats again. Dorian returned to La Boulaie, where David (Tuc Watkins) was the voice of sanity. He told his wife she was getting set up and she'd better save her own ass. Do you think Dorian did the right thing, or is she covering up what is really going on? I bet it won't take Viki and Jeffrey long to get to the truth. Cutter’s (Josh Kelly) DJ skipped out on Shelter, after Dani overdosed. Desperate to keep the opening night from going down in flames, Cutter had Rama (Shenaz Treasurey) start offering free shots. 31 Responses Katiebug9624 May 1, 2013 Victor and Tea STILL have it! When she looked at him and just said your alive over and over again ahhhh I just melted. Log in to Reply giogio May 1, 2013 I LOVE it all. The only thing I had a laugh at this morning with my mother was, all Tea said was, your alive, your alive. Than everyone else walked in the room and just looked like, oh Victor is here. Hes not dead. I said If we walked into a room and saw someone we thought was dead we would need to call a couple of ambulances. All and all, Victor needs to be there. love TSJ Log in to Reply Ryan-Scott May 1, 2013 I am so just so grateful to have this and AMC back on. I am also grateful that unlike with ABC that Agnes Nixon isn’t being frozen out. Seeing Viki, Bo, Nora, Clint, Todd, and my fav Cutter back in action…it’s Christmas in May kids!   Log in to Reply giogio May 1, 2013 Ryan Scott, Aint that the truth. I was late watching cause I didnt hook my Roku up until Monday night, (I had it but dont know what I was thinking waiting so long) but I felt I was dreaming this all up. I could not believe they were back. I really did cry when I first saw everyone. Log in to Reply LeiLei May 1, 2013 I watched both episodes of OLTL last night with a huge smile on my face. I’m ecstatic that TSJ is back but agree with everyone who says people were a little subdued in their reactions to him being back. Never a big Jack fan but loved his hug with Victor. Log in to Reply Yoryla May 1, 2013 Loved Victor being back! But I was a little surprised at the “reveal” to happen in the middle of the second episode. Not to say I wanted there to be long, drawn out storyline before the reveal was made, but still. This was kind of too quick. And yes, Victor and Téa still have it! Love this couple. However, Téa was the only one who garnered any kind of reaction. Viki didn’t even flinch, not to mention Blair. Todd was surprised at best! I was like, did they KNOW he’s alive? Was this not a shock to them? Or then, alternatively, I thought that maybe they had cut some scenes. But that would be a weird option to cut those scenes. Log in to Reply wilco617 May 1, 2013 As far as Viki’s non-reaction to Victor Jr’s return, best I can explain 1) she no longer phased by “returns from the dead” because she has experienced so many (ex-husbands, her “father,” siblings, friends, etc – most recently Irene, Gigi and Stacy) and 2) I don’t think she even knows what to make of Victor yet, seeing as their entire relationship up until now has been based upon the notion he was Todd. Log in to Reply ChrisGa May 1, 2013 Just finished watching the third episode and I gotta say so far so good. It did seem odd with regards to the non-reactions from everyone except Tea(today, Viki acknowledged Victor but the reunion was rather brief). Also, the acting is still there and both Robert Gorrie and Corbin Bleu are very good additions(jury’s still out on nuDestiny). Hopefully, we’ll get a little more action with Natalie, Cutter and Rama in the not-too-distant future. I was surprised that there wasn’t much of a reaction from anybody. I thought Tea would have fainted dead away. I also thought they would have dragged it out a bit longer. I liked the 2nd epi much better than the first. Not so much time at the club! And Tea/Victor chemistry is smokin hot! I see All My Children and OLTL not only surviving but thriving in this new format. I really hope that past cast members of both shows that were hesitant to sign up will now have faith that these shows will do well in this format and sign back on. If not then it is their loss. It is beautifully shot and looks great. I am not sure how I feel about every new character, but I believe that I will get used to all of them and learn to like them. All soaps have had recasts of favorite characters and I have learned to like them. TSJ as Todd/Victor being a prime example. That being said I’m so happy they found a way to keep both actors on the show because Roger Howarth will always be Todd to me. It was great to be able to watch the shows anytime that I wanted. I have read complaints in other forums that people didn’t want to have to watch them on their small computer screen. There are so many alternatives to that. Do as I did and hook your computer up to your tv via an HDMI cable or their are tons of devices out there now with apps built in, including HULU. Log in to Reply Snugglebug May 1, 2013 Victor and Tea’s reunion was exactly what I’ve been waiting for. There was such a void left when TSJ made his exit from ABC’s OLTL. It is amazing to have him back and together with his OLTL on screen family. So beautiful to see Victor with his girls. For me, they are THE family on OLTL. Everyone has their faves. They are mine and I would do just about anything to keep TSJ on board. I hope PP feels the same. Log in to Reply GHFan777 May 1, 2013 I love this couple….I am so happy to see TSJ back on my screen. I love that man….So far I am really enjoying these two reboots. Log in to Reply washcutt May 2, 2013 I agree with everything you said(snugglebug). I’ll be tuning in for them. OLTL had become my favorite soap before it went off the air. I love Micheal Easton on GH now and glad he’s not coming back, but have Tristen St. John back makes up for all of it. OL would be boring without TSJ. Log in to Reply wiggum May 2, 2013
Just finished watching the third episode and I gotta say so far so good. And this would be number 65 return from the dead person. There lack of reaction just took all the drama out of the episode. Blair, Viki, and Jack all just had “there’s Victor” look on their face. I tried, but I just didn’t like this episode. I actually liked the first episode better, but nevertheless, they are back and I’m sticking in with them during their growing pains phase. Welcome back OLTL and AMC!!! Log in to Reply hkWolfhard May 2, 2013 I was holding off on posting my thoughts on the new OLTL episodes until I’d seen the first two. I didn’t feel like the first half hour of the series was enough for me to judge it. And frankly, I’m not judging it all that much, but there are quibbles. Quibbles though they are, there aren’t very many of them. Let’s talk about the stylistic changes from the old to new OLTL, the dramatis personae, and finally, the plot lines. Firstly, let’s get something straight: I love that OLTL is back. I’m not a diehard soap opera fan, but any semblance of fearless entrepreneurial spirit on the behalf of a defunct television series (be it prime time or day time). I knew going into it that moving from an one hour slot to a half-hour ‘any time you want’ slot would bring changes. I knew that there would be changes with the dialogue and the dramatis personae given the budget. I like the fact that creative team started us off introducing the characters to us again and showing us where they were at (admittedly, I would have loved a little bit more context to the Manning/Lord kids). However, I feel like, with the Shelter interior scenes, the camera work on display was not perfect. I’m not even sure what lenses were being used to make it look like the scenes were covered in a layer of Vaseline, all slick and no real polish (not to mention the jump cuts being used). Stylistically, I felt like the camera work was more graceful pre-Prospect Park. It wasn’t until I saw the other interior shots (especially in Llanfair and Dorian’s house) that I felt like it had a bit more professional look to it. Note to the editors: I realize there’s a lot going on, but please don’t rush the cuts and transitions. I’m not going to stop watching the show, because a) I’ve got a PVR and FX Canada, and b) I love the characters. Which leads to my second quibble: There are characters in the OLTL universe that could be included or excluded in the Prospect Park show. Roxy, for one, would be a pretty good inclusion. Frankly, she’d be better included to lighten the load of Vickers who seems to be the only comedic relief on the show now. I feel as though the Patels are being included if only to shock the audience. The new OLTL is trying to show they can do ‘cutting edge’ with the new boundaries of Internet television. I will admit that I feel as though it’s gutsy on their part to provide a discourse on poly relationships by having the whole open relationship arc (as I have read that will be happening), but it shouldn’t be the only aspect to those characters. However, as I have said, it’s only two episodes in and they haven’t even discussed it – we’ve not even seen Vimal yet, so I’m not too worried (but it is still a quibble). Speaking of plot lines, that’s my third (and last) quibble: For a half hour, the new OLTL is not only cramming a whole ton of information at us, but cramming all the entire dramatis personae in one half hour. Can they please slow it down? Focus on only two or three scenes as opposed to five or six over the period of three episodes. I get it though – Prospect Park, Hulu and the creative staff of OLTL really want eyeballs on the screens as soon as possible to create the dedicated fan base. I’m hoping that after a week or two of episodes, they’ll see they have a bit more luxury to spread the scenes out and allow the story lines to expand so that the characters can breathe. If it sounds like I am being over critical, it’s because it comes from a place of a fan. There is a LOT to love, too. I loved St. John and Lozano’s chemistry. I’ve always been a fan of Victor and Tea’s relationship and the creative team has just brought it out at the forefront. I loved their scenes together. Better yet was seeing the two Todds brawling in the hospital (despite the fact that no one else appears to be surprised by Victor’s un-dead state). I’m not particularly impressed (yet) with Matthew (the character’s a douche, but hey, at least he’s flawed), but I WAS impressed by Trischitta’s Jack Manning. I like that they’re providing us with a new love triangle in Natalie-Cutter-Rama (even though I do have quibbles about Rama’s inclusion in the series, there’s no denying that they’re setting up something that could be considered a new keystone in a young show). I was totally unprepared at how impressed and intrigued I’d be with Corbin Bleu’s character (his cub reporter character came out of left field for me, but it turned out to be a pretty vital character, providing a connective tissue between the Viki-Dorian feud). And then there’s Roger Howarth. I can’t put into words how awesome I think he is at playing tortured, flawed characters (see: Sean Kanan’s AJ too). Ultimately, while I only had a few criticisms, I was happy to see Llanview and the characters from OLTL again. It looks to be a great start to Prospect Park’s show. I for one can’t wait to see where they go with the new format. Log in to Reply diremommy May 2, 2013 Can anyone tell me of a way to watch this either on my tablet or on my PS3? On my PS3 I could only seem to get Hulu PLUS and I’m not willing to pay just for the soaps, and hulu doesn’t work on my tablet at all because of the flash. Any word if this is going to come to netflix (which I’m already paying for), or if anyone has been able to get it up on youtube? I’m just trying to find an easier way for my mom and I to watch, besides us both crowded around my laptop. Log in to Reply AbercrombieMike May 2, 2013 Watching this week, I feel like this is the same show that went off the air last year. And that’s a good thing. It doesn’t feel like a remake or reboot, or even that any major changes have been made. It’s my favorite tv show, and it’s back. Log in to Reply pjc722 May 2, 2013 I LOVE THE NEW OLTL! Log in to Reply liason4real May 2, 2013 Victor and Tea, rock! Squeal! I think Viki looked really shocked when Todd told her that Victor was alive. However, Tea and Dani had the most shocking reactions. I’m just glad that Victor was not seen lurking in the bushes over the next six weeks! On all mobile devices (including iPads), Hulu Plus (paid subscription) is the only way to watch it. Flash does not work on most mobile devices at all. On your desktop or laptop, Hulu.com airs free but with a number of commercials. On iTunes, it is 99 cents per episode or $10 per month to download for personal ownership. Also, in case anyone is interested on watching theses shows on YouTube (and undercutting their longevity), Prospect Park is exercising its rights and having them removed almost as soon as they are posted. Why again doesn’t this woman have an Emmy? Log in to Reply petitejolie May 2, 2013 I hated Tea’s original stint in Llanview, but by the time show ended I loved her and Victor/Todd. They still have that magic. Just the way they look at each other makes my cold jaded heart melt. Log in to Reply sodsince16 May 2, 2013 I honestly didn’t understand the Todd/Blair scene in the coffee shop. What was Blair cautioning Todd not to do? Isn’t she concerned about her son forming a relationship with Victor? Also – When did the Buchanan’s butler go to work for Viki? Why doesn’t Bo live in the Buchanan mansion anymore? Why was Dani sedated after overdosing? Lastly, is this the theme song that Snoop Lion wrote or am I misremembering that story? However, there is still the major issue of international viewing. How is PP dealing with that one? YouTube clips were the only way for people outside of the US and Canada to see these shows. Log in to Reply fmat55 May 2, 2013
Also – When did the Buchanan’s butler go to work for Viki? Why doesn’t Bo live in the Buchanan mansion anymore?
From what I recall Bo hasn’t lived in the Buchanan mansion in years. Clint was living there and somehow lost ownership. OLTL has been off the air for over a year so who knows (or who cares) how or why Nigel came to work for Viki. It’s just great to see him as part of the reboot. Log in to Reply mfarris70 May 2, 2013 The performers are still great, the problem is the dialogue and directing. Staring at each other from across the room (with no mood music is not drama! Log in to Reply ChrisGa May 2, 2013 Clint lived at the mansion. Nigel was the butler there for years. Clint has been under house arrest for the last year living at Llanfair(Viki suggested to the judge during Clint’s sentencing that he be able to live there, with an ankle monitor, rather than serve his sentence “elsewhere”). Clint moved into Llanfair and subsequently proposed to Viki. So I’m assuming Nigel went to work for Clint–and Viki–at Llanfair. Log in to Reply cornax May 2, 2013 Tea: You’re alive! But…how?
