Jamey Giddens May 1, 2013 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, HLN, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and The Restless 27 Comments It's a happy, happy day for fans of The Bold and the Beautiful's Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), which any Daytime Confidential reader knows, I am Chief BeLieFer among them! The striking and emotive actress was nominated for her very first Daytime Emmy nomination this morning. Ironically, the soap's longterm leading lady finally snagged a nod by putting herself in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category. KKL will compete with General Hospital's Julie Marie Berman (Lulu), The Young and the Restless' Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) and Jessica Collins (Avery) and Days of Our Lives' Arianne Zucker (Nicole). Congrats to all the nominated ladies! 27 Responses kriket May 1, 2013 Finally, she better win Log in to Reply pferrando May 1, 2013 It’s deserved. She been on the show since ‘i87 and has had some great moments. Log in to Reply harlee490 May 1, 2013 Here KKL after all these years deserves her Emmy KATHERINE KELLY LANG, as Brooke THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL If not KKL I would like ARIANNE ZUCKER, as Nicole Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 May 1, 2013 what, Harlee… no Yvonne Zima as Daisy? Log in to Reply NathanHastingsSr. May 1, 2013 KKL for the win!!! Log in to Reply noway May 1, 2013 KKL Log in to Reply californiaguy888 May 1, 2013 Long overdue! Congratulations KKL! Now that she’s no longer part of BRIDGE, she gets to shine! Log in to Reply Ryan-Scott May 1, 2013 Wonderful! I hope she wins! Log in to Reply snizzle May 1, 2013 Congrats KKL!! Log in to Reply pjc722 May 1, 2013 Congrats!! This woman is one spectacular actress and woman!! Log in to Reply Angie Lucy May 1, 2013 On what planet is Brooke Logan a supporting character? Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for KKL. I just wish it could have been in the leading actress category where she belongs. Log in to Reply Steph Foster May 1, 2013 Imagine if KKL and Susan Flannery end up winning in the same year? That would be wonderful! And yes KKL has always been a lead on that show but I would argue she spent most of last year supporting the ridiculous Liam/Steffy/Hope storyline and is therefore a supporting actress for the year in contention. Log in to Reply dqh257 May 1, 2013 @AngieLucy, isn’t this for the period of time that was spent propping up the Hope/Liam/Steffy triangle? She really didn’t do much other than that. Now, hopefully with the menopause story and the Brooke/Katie/Bill triangle and the Brooke/Taylor reheated rivalry, now we have leading lady material. The scene between her and Taylor, where KKL snapped her fingers and said seductively that she could have Eric back IF she wanted him was the vintage Brooke I knew and loved. Taylor’s insecurity over Brooke’s overt sexuality is classic B&B; I do wonder how Brooke’s menopause is going to play into the next chapter of Brooke’s story. Log in to Reply Yoryla May 1, 2013 Happy for KKL. No matter how I might feel about Brooke as a character, she HAS earned the award, for all the 26 years she’s been making Brooke her own. Ari Zucker is the one I’m rooting for, and has a pretty good chance to win, too. I’m assuming she submitted the episodes where she pretended to lose the baby in the stairs. Even though the storyline was dreadful, she did a great job. Julie Marie Berman hasn’t really had many storylines last year, if any. I can’t imagine what she could have submitted? Anyway, I love her as an actress, she’s great, so if she wins, I won’t mind. HOWEVER: Jessica Collins? Missy Egan? What the heck are they doing on this list?! Granted, Missy is able to do good scenes, but still. Her golden time was as Annie, not as Chelsea. Ugh. Log in to Reply Yoryla May 1, 2013 The actors can decide for themselves, to which category they submit to. So, it was KKL’s decision to put herself up in Supporting, so that she would have a shot at actually winning the award. I’m sure she would have done that even she had been lead last year. Log in to Reply ChrisGa May 1, 2013 In a cast full of hair models, KKL is definitely one of the standouts as far as acting goes(along with Susan Flannery, Heather Tom and maybe Scott Clifton). Still, I’d love to see MCE or AZ get acknowledged for working magic with material that was sometimes beneath their talent(AZ particularly had to wade through an ocean of shitty material when she was inserted into the show-eating Dannifer debacle). Log in to Reply sassysdreams May 1, 2013 I’m extremely disappointed by the lack of General Hospital stars to be nominated and by the ones who were nominated. There is no way that KA or LM deserved a nomination in my opinion. And that there were no General Hospital leading ladies nominated is unbelievable!! I hope that JT, JMB and BA sweep the Emmys!!! Log in to Reply pferrando May 1, 2013 Actually both Jessica and Melissa had some great material and scenes last year right before and after the transition of teams and should be here. I used to really like the Avery character up until SB came aboard. I’d be happy to see a Y and R actress take this, but again I feel KKL should win. There are a couple of Y and R noms that I don’t support, and I feel that both Sharon C and Peter P SHOULD be here this year. But does anyone really think these noms are 100% accurate. They never have been unfortunately. She proves it every time. Log in to Reply blake3b May 2, 2013 About damn time! Log in to Reply hey mon May 4, 2013 Melissa! Melissa! Melissa! Definitely not bobble-head Jessica Collins. Log in to Reply Smallboy May 5, 2013 KKL is supporting on B&B? These games should not be allowed. They make stupid Emmys. It makes no sense. KKL has been put herselfe into supporting because it’s an easier category to win a nomination. The next year she can try at Best Young Actress Log in to Reply Cuppa_Coffee May 5, 2013 Melissa is good. Jessica is as crummy as the cupcake she makes Log in to Reply Aurora2 May 6, 2013 Interesting list of nominees … are there any links to the specific episodes they submitted? I would enjoy watching all of them. And to Yoryla re Julie Marie Berman. I agree that she wasn’t given much good material in 2012. However, on January 30, 2012, she had an amazing performance in scenes with Tony Geary in which their relationship was laid bare and healing began between them. Julie very effectively portrayed a wide range of emotion and I think that this episode definitely deserves to be acknowledged. (And I do find it ironic that this episode happened before the current regime took over at GH). Re KKL – I expect submitting as supporting might have been because her talented co-star was submitting for lead. Whatever, the case, I respect her talent .. and do see where she would be a favorite, not only because of this talent, but also because she would be a sentimental favorite as an older 1st time nominee. I don’t know the work of the others especially well. Log in to Reply Silo May 18, 2013 YAY!!!! FINALLY! SO happy for her! KKL all the way! Log in to Reply pferrando May 20, 2013 Hey mon, I actually could see Melissa pull this one off. Log in to Reply ChrisGa May 23, 2013
Hey mon, I actually could see Melissa pull this one off.
Yeah, definitely Melissa or Ari Zucker. Hell, I’d be thrilled with a tie between those two(it has happened before). Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
