Camryn Grimes Back to The Young and the Restless

It looks like Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon's (Sharon Case) first born is returning to Genoa City. Soap Opera Digest is reporting Camryn Grimes is back at The Young and the Restless, and already has started taping scenes as of Friday, May 24.

According to the magazine's site, Grimes is shooting more than one episode, and Y&R's keeping mum on what exactly she will be doing on the show. Grimes' first airdate is scheduled for July 8.

Christ, just bring Cassie and John Abbott back to the show! I'm tired of flashbacks and ghosts. What a load of crap!

I think I must be psychic. I was just talking to a friend earlier Friday about Camryn Grimes and said I was surprised they didn't just bring her back as Cassie's twin that Sharon didn't know she had.

Love her but don't like the returns from dead.

How much longer can CG play the ghost of Cassie? She's gotta be pushing 30 by now! I'm also tired of Ghost John coming along to chide Jack every time he's happy!

I wonder about her age too. Will she have aged or will she be the "little girl" that they buried.
Pay attention writers, the dead don't age, wear glasses, have injuries. Let's get real, isn't she older than Noah?
She will come back all grown up and Noah will fall in love with her and Nick will blow another circuit.
Is this the best that Y&R can come up with?

Probably has to do with making Nick look sympathetic - he hid Summer's paternity which is kind of a douche-y thing to do.
The ghost of Cassie can counsel him a la John Abbott - do the right thing Nick.
Too bad Phyllis is leaving....this storyline will suck with NuPhyllis or NoPhyllis.

Pushing 30 lol? That wouldn't make any sense, she's only 23. I hated that Cassie and John were killed off when I watched so I'm glad to see them haunting the people they love once in a while.

I think this is great news. I too would prefer if it wasn't a ghost, or a flashback, but the fact that she's back for some episodes is great.

I always wanted that whisper on her deathbed to Nick to mean there was a twin, not a new baby.

Killing off Cassie was actually one of the best Y and R stories of all time. Camryn hadn't been on the screen much toward the end. When they brought her back, it was brilliant to make her somewhat rebellious since that's about the age kids start acting out. We always saw her as the sweet innocent Cassie, so it made the story that much more realistic.

What's different about the decision to kill her off, is it was the beginning of so much fall out and story that still kind of goes on today.

Killing off other loved characters like John and Colleen and Brad made for a couple of good episodes, but NOTHING came from those poor decisions.

Cassie's death was much more meaningful to drive story.

Glad she's back!!!

Wouldn't it be fantastic that she comes back as another character?! The story would go that Sharon, distraught that she is all alone with Cassie dead, Noah living his life as an adult and Faith living with Nick while her love life is in tatters after Adam's lasting dumping of her, goes to a shop... maybe the book store... and catches a glimpse of what she thinks is Cassie.

Then a couple of days later she catches yet another glimpse which ignites this fantasy in her mind. With her already admitting to her doctor that she feels lost, seeing someone who looks like Cassie could trigger something in Sharon that forces her to look for the young women and see if she's her dead daughter. Of course, Nick catches on and tries, in vain, to get her to realize her mistaken identity.

But when Nick sees proof of what Sharon is seeing, he is drawn into the story. It could be the catalyst for refocusing the love story of Nick and Sharon while creating a wonderfully sweet love triangle with Avery.

Of course, the girl is just an innocent doppelganger for Cassie but has sooooo many of the same qualities and sweetness of the dearly departed. Sharon would meet the young lady, develop a friendship with her that could or could not lead to a dramatic conclusion.

In the end, the look a like is not Cassie but she does help Sharon see her life more clearly and bring focus back to our heroine, Sharon, in a big way.

If told right and at the correct pace it could be very much like ANOTHER WORLD's story with Ryan's ghost with Vicky where the ghost (in this case a living look a like) helped in a beautiful way.

GRANTED, that won't be the case and we will have a revisit of dead john-esque story, I'm sure.

No more ghost stories! They're just silly.

Since there's no info on what the character is doing, or who the character will be...or how long she'll be on...I'll do the logical thing and wait.

Ugh. I'm sure she's there as a ghost to give Nick advice on his betrayal. But for the love of God, just stop with these constant revisits of the matter already. It's been seven years! She's dead, buried, and is not coming back.

Why is nobody mentioning/ visiting gravesite/ having ghostly flashes of Dru??? Or Rex Sterling? Or Colleen? Or Brad??? Honestly. Cassie is NOT the only person who has ever died in GC. Stop with the overt histrionics.

I don't think Rex's death or even Colleen's or Brad's had the same impact on the show or fans.

Remember actually that Brad did come back when Colleen was dying. Rex also has made a ghostly appearance.

I think if Sony/CBS wanted VR back she would come back not only as a ghost, but preferably AS Dru.

I love this.

It wouldn't be too crazy if Sharon gave birth to twins and that crazy ass Matt Clarke knew where the other baby was but never said anything. I really hope she isn't a ghost that's back to save Nick & Sharon's souls.

Agreed. I think the last really good return from the dead storyline was the 1st return of James Stenbeck, and with each subsequent return, his storylines became utterly ridiculous.

As for Y&R, Ghost John annoys me with each subsequent return. He is more nagging with each increasing visit--something I never remembered John being in life.

What bothers me about soaps killing off characters (especially those from vital and core families) is that while, in the moment, it may provide Emmy worthy material, down the line, it kills off many more story line possibilities in the future.

Perhaps if Y&R had not killed off Cassie, Colleen, John and Brad in such quick succession (Y&R put the 'suck' in succession), we might not be seeing so many castings lately.

Might we have seen more vital stories for the likes of Ashley, Tracy, Daniel and JT if those mentioned above characters had remained alive on the canvas? Might most of these characters have had a reason to stay (or be kept around)?

I could've seen Cassie being involved with a slow building (but highly discouraged) romantic entanglement with Daniel, discouraged especially the way it began and the age difference. Colleen might have been a thorn in the Newman's side for years (especially Victoria) and a complication for JT and Mac for years to come. Not to mention Brad's obvious value as a foil to both Newman and Abbotts, company and personal lives.
Instead we get an overdose of Dylan, Avery and Chelsea who are peripheral characters at best.

Sometimes Soaps shoot themselves in the proverbial 'foot' when they anxiously kill characters off for a momentarily 'hot' idea. So short sided!
And these 'back from the dead' and 'ghosting' storylines make it hard for most thinking people to remain of fan of these shows.

I don't mind suspending my belief sometimes, but insulting my intelligence with the same stupid 'Band Aid' storyline fix, is another story.

I'm starting to feel insulted by these stupid 'fixes'.

Brad's death was a huge biggee, and then Colleen'd death was even worse. Goes to show what MAB would do, to make Abby a 'Newman'. Too bad they didnt bring back Ashley to go with Brad, she would have been happier with him in the sack, rather than Victor. Stud Diamont vs Old Man Braeden. Oh well.

i read a rumor/spoiler that Camryn will be playing Cassie's twin sister that Sharon forget/didn't know she was carrying and forgot all the memories of.

I'd love for her to be back full time.

Josh didn't kill her off, so I don't have an issue with a writer revisiting the show's history.

MAB wisely knew that the audience missed John Abbott so she brought him back in that way. I also find it comforting to know he's "around". Probably doesn't work that way, but wouldn't it be great if our loved ones who'd passed were around us in some capacity.

I DON'T want Camryn to be a ghost, but any other way they can work her back into the sea of JFP recast/new face mess is a huge welcome for me.

WELCOME BACK! Innocent Innocent Innocent

Agreed Agent. Hated all those killings--all great characters that would have driven story for decades. Brad was never dull and a Brad Traci reunion after the death of Traci's beloved would have been fine. How could they kill Traci's only child?

That was the start of MAB's murders, double identities, jailings, insta-weddings to try to keep the ratings going.

Such a shameful thing to do.

Having Cassie die was a completely different story.

Cassie's death breathed new life into Y&R at a time when the soap was a bit stale while the senseless killings of Brad, John, Dru, Colleen, and even Diane were ratings stunts.

When Nick and Sharon's daughter died, everything changed on this show and I was mesmerized. People say it was mistake to write off Cassie, but sometimes a soap has to throw us a curveball and this event did just that. However, MAB and LML simply wanted a cheap thrills for minor rating increases and now we have lost some very integral characters. As much as I like some of the newbies, Y&R feels off to me. IDK maybe with Jeanne Cooper gone and Michelle Stafford leaving I'm afraid of what's to come Sad

Hopefully this Cassie return thing is worth it..

...it breathed life into Y&R, but for how long? It would appear that the dividends were somewhat short-lived.
And I hear more people complaining about how nonsensical it is to kill off a character only to bring them back in...how many years did it take to bring her back? Again and again?

I still think it was a short-lived and short sided gain. Realistically, it got 15 months of mileage, what came after was just poorly written filler.

And it's debatable that it aborted just as many future story possibilities in the long term as it created in the short term.

If Cassie returns as a ghost, I hope she scares the sh*t out of the Newmans. All of them! (LOL)

@MsAgentProvocateur1 it's soap opera, long-term characters sometimes run their course and that happened with Cassie. She wasn't based on the legacy of the show like everyone says. John Abbott and Colleen Carlton meant more to the tapestry of the show than Cassie. She was a sweet girl, but watching her take on the role of Newman princess would've been grueling. For heavens sake, let's remember Cassie wasn't even Nick's biological child!

Even still, the death of Cassie Newman is a moment that is still remembered as a compelling storyline and for any of you to shit on it is absurd. In the last ten years, nothing on this soap has changed more lives than when Cassie was killed from the injuries she sustained in that car accident and Y&R was on fire. And I hold onto faith it can achieve that kind of creative success again without a cheap back from the dead trick.

As I stated in another thread, Cassie's death was a compelling, and VERY well done umbrella storyline that had big ramification. It was also the Last "Golden" Y&R Story told. After that it was LML writing and the show went downhill fast.

Sorry, but no twin sister storylines that Sharon magically "forgot". I agree with pjc- way too General Hospital.

Now let's see wouldn't Cassie be roughly 33-34?

Summer is 18, and Cassie was 14? plus a year and half on top of that?
