BREAKING NEWS: Prospect Park Begins Hiatus For All My Children and One Life to Live Early Amid Union Dispute!

The planned summer hiatus for All My Children and One Life to Live will begin earlier than expected — like tomorrow! In a statement to the press, The Online Network confirmed a dispute with the union representing production staffers on both soaps is causing production to stop on June 6, as opposed to June 17. When will the soaps return to production? According to TOLN, that depends on when the dispute is settled. See the full statement below.

“As a result of a dispute with the I.A.T.S.E., The OnLine Network is beginning a long-planned hiatus for both ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life To Live’ tomorrow instead of June 17. The hiatus is scheduled to end on August 12 pending resolution of this labor issue. Right now we have 40 episodes of each show ready to post through September, and if we can resolve this issue by August, we can get back into the studio on time so audiences will enjoy uninterrupted postings of their favorite shows.

We believe we have met all contract requirements with I.A.T.S.E, and as an internet start-up, and per our contract with the I.A., we cannot afford, and our business model cannot sustain, traditional broadcast rates.

The writers, directors, actors and rest of crew have been supportive of the shows and our success. Both ‘One Life To Live’ and ‘All My Children’ consistently earn top rankings on both Hulu and iTunes since launch just over a month ago. The popularity of the shows is matched by the continued passion and excitement from the fans. We are committed to these shows, and to the nearly 300 jobs they produce, thus we are exploring every legal and logistical option to maintain our production schedule.”

Earlier this week, The Wrap broke news of a brewing conflict between I.A.T.S.E. and Prospect Park over the cost of episodes and wages for union workers.

A damn mess! PP should know better than not to buck unions and they have shows like Royal Pains on cable they shouldn't be this stupid.

Well this hiatus is one week early. They were gonna stop June 14

And they have episodes filmed that will air thru September.

Lets just hope this gets settled soon& they can resume prod Aug 12 as planned

I really want these shows to work, but this is such an uphill battle. I feel bad for the cast and crew that never seem to be able to trust what they are being told. I also feel bad for us fans because, as much as we want to show support, we are ultimately powerless. Exhausting!

This is how the industry is. They shows will return - but isn't it bad I wouldn't be overly surprised to read "PP cancels AMC/OLTL" one day?

I felt my stomach drop; a "hiatus" becomes "permanent" very easily.

Not good not good at all. PP really needs a new management team because they are just not handling these reboots well at all.

Sadly news of the cancellation of AMC and OLTL again seems like it will be sooner than later. I so hope I am wrong but not looking good

At least it's just a week before planned and with only have 2 episodes a show per week it will be longer. I'm not giving up on this yet, I enjoy watching both shows each week.

I wonder how GH will write out Franco, Kiki and Silas, and then bring back Todd, Starr and John. This should be an odyssey for all of us!

Kidding, appleridge. Kidding.

Anyway, even if ABC had the balls to reclaim the characters, who would hear a lawsuit from the cokehead behind PP? It's time to open your eyes.

@AllMyChildren & @OneLifeTolIve fans, The IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) union has not gone on strike. This is PP & @TOLN who have decided to start their hiatuses a week early to settle this dispute between them & IATSE.

Per @MiichaeFairman we know the writers have been told by PP to continue writing long-term stories for both soaps. We also know from PP that episodes of both shows will air thru September. This probably means the editors which are part of IATSE are still gonna work to finish editing the episodes that both soaps have filmed so far.

The plan is still to restart production August 12th 2013. I feel deep down this will happen & this dispute will be settled shortly. So as fans lets just continue to support, the shows, actors & crew. Spread the word & continue to watch.

No denial here. They will figure this out. If PP is liable, they will pay the damages. If not then they wont have to but the shows will resume production and finish out the first year at least

PP messed with GH’s stories and all fans have gotten is tons of backstage drama and absolutely no drama on the actual shows. I don’t think this is growing pains so much as PP being douches.

Liable for what? Do you think their lawsuit against ABC is still viable? What are you talking about?

"We believe we have met all contract requirements with I.A.T.S.E, and as an internet start-up, and per our contract with the I.A., we cannot afford, and our business model cannot sustain, traditional broadcast rates."

I have been saying all along that this fly-by-night organization couldn't afford broadcast rates. Now, they are admitting it. Come on!

Clearly, they knew--when they cut the posting schedule in half--this was coming. And still, you want to drink the Kool-Aid? Jeepers.

Bob Lamm's Titanic metaphor is spot-on! How much longer can you go on buying what these crocks are cooking?

TV Gord their contract PP is not paying anyone here Broadcast rates. They are paying new media rates. This conflict has no merit on the ABC/PP lawsuit. That is too seperate situations

PP cut the airing schedule. The production schedule has not been cut. They are still filming 5 days a week/5 weeks at a time

Unions have to be reasonable also. I come from NEPA where unions were strong but also hurt locals.

It's "still the plan" for Romney to win the 2012 presidential election. At this very moment, Karl Rove is counting votes in Ohio and telling everyone at FOX News that they shouldn't call the election for Obama.

Oh my stars and garters, appleridge, are you serious? Well, if you are, I'll see you on August 12th. I'll pencil (PENCIL) that date into my calendar. Holy crap on a Snackwell, you certainly are a believer to the bitter end. I'll give you that.

In any event, this continues the negative press for PP. Too bad.
