Gotta say this makes me happy. While I admit last year was pretty hit-and-miss, it's best episodes--like Will's coming out--was some of the best stuff on daytime. And right now it's the best show among the current six soaps so here's hoping for a two-peat next year! Congrats DAYS!!

I'm not happy about this. I think the folks at Days paid the voters off to get this Emmy. Seriously, if B&B wins writing and directing, they should have gotten Drama Series.

'Nuff said.

I hope Days can keep it up. The last time it was even close to this good was around the Sydnapping. That was like 2.5 or more years ago!

That may very well be the most ignorant and spiteful comment I've read on this site. I try not to comment on fan wars, because I don't usually care, but that is so patently offensive I will reply. Days Of Our Lives last won the award for Outstanding Drama in 1978. If they were going to pay off the voters to earn an emmy, don't you think they would've done it long before tonight? They earned this emmy, fair and square. And for you to say anything to the contrary, especially to imply they cheated to get it, is demeaning to this site, the show, and millions of soap fans all over the world.

P.S. In case anyone tries to argue, I'd advise them to go take a look at my comment in the Live Blog. Yes, I prayed for OLTL to win. But I was happy when DAYS won, as I would be for any of the daytime dramas.

B&B summited different episode for all three cags. They summited the Itlain Hope and Liam wedding for Directing, They summited Stephine Death for Writing, and for Series they summited the Stephine party well she annouces she going off to die alone.

Danny Ricci, you have class. The person to whose comment you responded has none, nor brains either apparently.

Days is a show of which I've almost never missed an episode in close to thirty years. When it's bad, I blast it with criticism and pray for it to get better. When it's as good as it is now, I heap praise on it and hope it stays that way.

Congratulations Days Of Our Lives!

May the sands keep trickling through the hourglass.

Congratulations to Days!!!!!

Having said that - for LAST year?! Really?!

I mean, I'm happy for the show, because it's my number one show - NOW.
But seriously, 2012 was NOT a good year for it. I stopped watching altogether in September, after the Daysaster was done and the insipid Dannifer mess begun. Days really only turned around in the New Years, with Kristen melting down in front of John in her hotel room.

And the fact that the other one of the submitted episodes was the Nicole threatening to kill herself in Horton Square with a scalpel (ugh) makes me worry about how they will see it from her on out. What if they think they won because of the Dannifer episode???

While I think this would be the least of the shows currently on the air, I will say that I am pleased to hear this win because NBC needs to do all it can to keep the show on the air.

Congrats to my favorite soap ever! I loved watching the enthusiasm of Suzanne Rogers while Ken Corday spoke. They really are doing great things over @ Days and I hope it continues for many decades to come!

Finally Days gets some Emmy Love. I won't say the show has been all that great until around May or so, but the show is entertaining as hell to watch, especially last week's violent episodes, which had more slaps, more hair pulls, more grabbing and shaking bitches than I could have ever hoped for.

It was FANTASTIC!

So thrilled that Days won the Emmy! I've been a fan since the late 60s. The only reason I got my first VCR was so I could tape Days. Of all the soaps I have watched throughout my life, this is the only show I have a very tender spot for. I know their family history better than my own. And, don't get me going on how emotional I still get when the Horton Christmas Ornaments come out.

We ALL have our fav for best show.

And based on the comments from all of us the past year...NONE of the shows was a clear favorite as ALL shows had major low points last year.

I too was expecting OLTL or GH to win (yet again) although I wanted Y and R to get the trophy, if for any reason just to show that JFP has a lot of improvement to do for any of us to be behind her for next year's Emmys. Josh has elevated the writing, while her "touches" have done NOTHING for the quality of the show.

But having said that...I'm thrilled to see DAYS get it. I think the show creatively was at its best in the 70's, but to only have one award prior is shameful.

Congrats to Days and its cast and crew.

I do not agree that Jill has not done anything with her touches. The sets are much better. I do believe that it took several months to exorcise the spirit of MAB from the show. The show is really really good again. I do not care for the music, but notice that of late we are not having the modern music. The other day at the end of the scene in the beginning of the show it went into the show's theme. That was classic Bill Bell!

The writing is much better and consistent. That's why I'm so positive about Y and R. That's Josh's touches.

But the obvious things Jill has done have taken away much of the show's identity. I never wanted her, and still don't.

While I believe DAYS paying off the Emmy voters is an exaggeration, I don't believe it deserved to win for Outstanding Drama because as a whole it was not a good year for DAYS. But I guess that reflects more on the Emmy process than anything else. They need to change the amount of episodes that are judged. If one or two episodes are being submitted then you are not really getting to see how well or how bad that soap has been over that particular year. Its similar to how the past few years GH would basically suck throughout the year but have those particular standout episodes that seemed to be done for the sole purpose of Emmy submission. As far as this year goes, even though I'm a GH fan, I thought the best consistently good soap out of the nominees was OLTL. However, if this win helps in any way to keep DAYS on the air even longer, then I'm all for it. We need as many soaps as possible to remain on the air.

MAB was better for Y&R's "look".

Josh is better for Y&R's writing.

Jill...is just Jill.

However, I'd rather have this Y&R than the Y&R of the last two regimes...

Congrats to DAYS. Don't watch, but I'm glad to see them finally get an emmy...it's been soooo long. I actually always thought it was weird that none of the actors really ever got emmys, nor did the show. I thought either they were intentionally being shut out, or the show was just that horrible. Glad to see them get it finally
