Jamey Giddens June 20, 2013 Comings & Goings, Days of Our Lives 20 Comments Remember that casting call for a tall hunk in Salem, U.S.A.? Well, it looks like Casey Deidrick (Chad) is leaving Days of Our Lives. The actor tweeted: As much as I'm going to miss the tall, drink of DiMera, I can't say I blame Deidrick. Chad has been floating ever since Melanie (Molly Burnett) left town. Here's wishing the actor luck in all of his future endeavors! 20 Responses Nk3play2 June 20, 2013 I can’t say I’m gonna be too interested in Days anymore; Chad’s paternity storyline is why I got hooked on Days. I’ll definitely miss him… Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon June 21, 2013 Damn. He’s one of my favourite younger actors in soaps today, and he’s been looking especially fine lately. I hope the recast is as good an actor as he is. Best of luck to him. From what I’m hearing, Days may have to rebuilt their young adult cast from scratch with the exclusion of 5 other actors…. You can take a guess at which ones I’ve heard are leaving!!! Log in to Reply MotownKate4Soaps June 21, 2013 I’m hoping Chad will be the latest Dimera that moves away to take a break from the family madness. Would be great too if Melanie forgives him, takes him back, and they live in Europe together. The actor is really good (and good looking) and could easily find a new home, probably in primetime. We will not likely see his last ep until October/November, since that’s where they’re at in filming time. It was still winter when the current stuff was filmed. Either way, I’m still gonna miss Casey and another actor who may be leaving the most. I don’t know if it’s actually true, so I won’t say the name. Log in to Reply Tmaddy32 June 21, 2013 Massey said in the press room at the emmys he is going back to UCLA when his contract ends in Decemember. I would of they would not be better off bring in some new charters instead of recasting. They can bring in JT (Eddie Alderson) to live with hope and Justin and Anglical(sp?) bio kid (Drew Garrett). They can also bring in Joy (Lexi Alexander) Log in to Reply willxsonny June 21, 2013 its been confirmed Chandler (Will) and Camila (Gabi) are leaving in December the only one left is Abby and Sonny. Gabi they need to kill this girl when she leaves. Will they probably going to recast him. Log in to Reply bishbay June 21, 2013 I won’t miss Banus or Massey (who’s been checked out for at least a year; I have no idea how we an Emmy smirking through his scenes and talking with an utterly flat affect at all times) but Deidrick, Smith and Mansi are all EXCELLENT and losing even one of them is a big loss. Also, Deidrick is the hotness and I will miss just, you know, looking at him. It stinks they haven’t given him story for the last year. But yeah, I’d hate to lose Freddie or the excellent Kate Mansi. As for Casey, gotta say I’m thoroughly disappointed about this. I wasn’t a fan of Chad/Melanie(probably cuz I was never a huge fan of Melanie) but once Melanie left and Chad turned into a spiteful bitch Deidrick was KILLING day in and day out(and yes, despite the recent unfortunate haircut, he is indeed the hotness). The only downside from the wedding/baby daddy reveal was Chad and Abigail splitting again–CD and KM have great chemistry, far more palpable than Abigail and nuCameron. They seemed to be putting Chad back in Abby’s orbit of late so this bums me out. That said, best of luck to Casey in his future endeavors. Log in to Reply Nk3play2 June 21, 2013 I don’t get it at all!!! Why do all of Days’s younger actors head for the hills all at the same time, EVERY TIME!!!! What the hell do they do to these kids on that set that they always make the unanimous decision to get the fuck out of Burbank, TOGETHER???!!! As for Massey leaving, I’d rather Will be presumed dead leaving Sonny devastated forcing Freddie Smith to show some damn emotion. I wouldn’t have a problem with them killing Gabi off for real, unless they get an amazing recast; I can take or leave Banus. Casey Deidrick I will definitely miss the most. I’d love them to get a really amazing recast for Chad and turn him into a complete bad ass with a heart of gold. However, unless the actor is really good and fits as Chad, I’d rather they write him and Melanie back together off screen. Don’t ruin my memories of Chad with a bullshit recast PLEASE!!!! The only person in the younger cast peaking my interest right now is Casey Moss as JJ Deveraux. For someone whose been acting for less then a year, he’s pretty good in my opinion. They definitely need some more kids because JJ doesn’t have a love interest. I also think it’s time to age that lost crop of kids all Days big supercouples had when they were in their late 40s/early 50s; If I remember correctly, JJ was in that crop of old ass babies. Log in to Reply SonnySprocket June 21, 2013 I will miss Casey but think they can rest the character of Chad for a bit. I still happen to like Chandler Massey but I hope they recast Will if he chooses to leave the show. Freddy Smith is still on contract until 2015 so we have him for a while yet. Not sure if they should keep Gabi or not on the show. I just recently started liking the character a whole lot more. I agree about bringing on another Kiriakis brother. There are lots of other missing children out there who could join. It also depends on who Jen Lilley and Chrishell Stause are playing when they join. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon June 21, 2013 They’ll probably end up SORAS-ing Sierra, Johnny, and Theo to be about JJ’s age if and when most of the current younger players go. All three of the little actors who play those kids are pretty talented so I’d hate to lose them. Maybe they should start thinking of casting Sonny’s other brothers. Log in to Reply Secrets and Lies June 21, 2013 Have to say that neither Deidrick, Massey, or Bunus is a huge loss. Chad is a character that never got off the ground and should just be dropped/forgotten. They should recast Will and Gabi because their storyline is important to the show long term. Massey has had his strengths and charms but he doesn’t seem to take the role seriously sometimes which for me makes it hard to invest in the character. If they found a talented actor who could take the role in an interesting direction that could be refreshing. Bunus is not that great and a recast could spice up her character for sure. This could actually be a good opportunity for days to liven that scene up a bit with more charismatic actors. The actors who play Sonny, Abby, Nick, and JJ are all a lot more engaging than these 3 imho. Log in to Reply Yoryla June 21, 2013 Ex-CUSE ME?! EPIC fail, Days! This is the brother of Kristen DiMera!!! Very disappointed Log in to Reply Yoryla June 21, 2013 This is so ironic, since I was just writing to a thread how I feel Days’ young cast is the best one of all the soaps. And, yes, even though I won’t miss her, even Camila Banus has stepped her game up. And now, it seems, Massey, Banus and Deidrick all leaving. Like ChrisGa, I’m not going to be heartbroken over Massey leaving, but I DO wonder what it will mean from Smith. I mean, will Ken Corday really invest in another high-profile pairing for Sonny? I don’t see it. This means Smith will either have to leave aswell, or move into backburnerland along with several other characters. Either of which aren’t exactly good option. Gabi they really should kill off or send to prison. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon June 21, 2013 It would make for great drama if Gabi’s part in kidnapping and terrorizing Melanie leads to her being arrested and incarcerated just when the audience has started warming up to the character. Her own brother would probably have to make the arrest and she’d be leaving a months-old infant motherless. Good story. The Sonny and Will part of the show is not exactly the most gripping so I’m not going to do any handwringing or lamenting over the possibility of losing storylines that feature them. But I think the show would be smart to beef up Sonny’s presence and consider bringing back beautiful Brian for him. Log in to Reply marknsprmo June 21, 2013 So much for CHILL…… This would have been the most explosive story on daytime. A gay relationship between mortal enemies the Bradys and the Dimeras. It was a missed opportunity with two very charismatic and chemistry filled young men. Now it looks like it would never come about. They coulda owned this show by now and the two would have had a hard time walking away. Well you all have many months left before they are gone. With four months in the can already it will be Thanksgiving before Chad is gone! Log in to Reply jeremy in chicago June 23, 2013 Mixed feelings. I WILL miss Casey Diedrick, actually (I’m kind of obsessed with the way he talks for some reason). But as an actor, his decision to leave is well-founded. I think I have to agree that Chandler Massey has all but checked out as an actor. Talented – yes. Present? Not so much. I see him relying on his “shtick” too much… little facial quirks and what not… he’s not making discoveries the way he was a year or two ago. He was really exciting then. How much is him vs. the writing though? Not sure. His storyline is cliche and boring. I think the coming out story really challenged and stimulated him. Perhaps he is not feeling challenged anymore. Who knows. I suppose I’m in the minority in thinking Sonny/Will is super boring. Having two teenage gay characters on a show is a waste if all they are going to do is have babies. It’s pretty absurd. Maybe Chandler feels the same. Or maybe he just thinks getting two Emmy’s for a soap opera will actually make a difference in his career (it won’t). Or maybe he just wants to move on, and if so, I say “break a leg.” Or maybe… he is just pissed the writers abandoned the EJ/Will tease that was happening last summer. Because as much as I love the new writers, they all but decimated the EJ/Will relationship, which for me was the most exciting on the canvas. Camilla Banus – mistake to leave. She is ONLY improving because she is on a soap. I’ve always liked her but she is still an acting novice. She should stay on Days at least one more year. She will not be acting opposite anyone as good as Blake Berris for some time, I’d wager. She is the type to get cast in a bit part on Gossip Girl or something. Worth leaving Days to pursue that? No. They will build the teen set around JJ and Abby. That’s fine. The biggest loser in this equation is Bryan Datillo. Chandler leaving almost assures Datillo will be let go. I’m still worried about Jen Lilley coming on… found her very nerve-fraying on GH. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
