Oprah Winfrey's Color Purple Co-Star Calls Her a "Field N*****"

Jealousy truly is an ugly thing. Oprah Winfrey's on-screen rival from The Color Purple went on a radio program and royally trashed the media icon, stooping so low as to call her a field n*****.

Rae Dawn Chong—who no one has heard from since the 80's—ripped The Mighty O on Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour.  Here's an excerpt:

"If you look at the way [Oprah] looks, she looks like 60 years ago she would have been a house keeper luckily. She would have not been a house n**ger she would have been a field n**ger."

I think it's time for Sophia to knock the piss out of Squeak again.

Sounds like Rae Dawn has been smoking some of her fathers stash......
I guess if ya got nothing else to say, you can bash someone who you have the barest connection to. One gets tired of these has beens making mean spirited statements just to get into print. Why is this print worthy?
Seriously can we put an end to that word? It has turned back up in all culture once again and is nothing but a derisive sad word. It just isn't ok for anyone to use. I feel that black culture "owning" that word has had the exact opposite effect that was intended. It has now come back into popular culture stronger than before. And it is just part of a big ole unhealed gash that marks our country. I don't know what it will take to put racism to bed once and for all but I do know that killing this word once and for all would be a start.

Some context for that statement is really needed...

Yeah... I need context too. That came out of nowhere.

I so agree with this statement. Especially of us so called reclaiming that word. It has had a negative effect. That word shouldn't be used at all!

Sounds like someone will be doing the usual "trip to rehab" after letting her mouth run which is usually what happens in these situations.
Trash.

I agree. It's very possible that she wasn't making a comment directed at Winfrey at all. She may have been commenting on how the white slave owners treated their slaves, based on appearance. Some were kept in the house to work, while others were banished to the fields. Even Oprah, with all of her present-day accomplishments, would have been treated disgracefully back in those shameful days of slavery.

there is a clip of the interview on TMZ. The radio host asked her if O treated her badly during the filming of the Color Purple. Rae responded by saying no, but then saying that she treated her horribly when she was playing on another film...and the rant came from there.

A link was provided in the post to the radio show's website. Rae wasn't making a social commentary, she was insulting her.

I cant help but laugh at this...because it is FuNNY as HELL! Can't you just hear Chris Rock...or even Whoopie herself delivering that line in a comedy sketch! Hilarious.

Those Canadians stirring up trouble again... Quite frankly, the other things she said in the interview are much more offensive than this!
