HomeTVThe Young and The RestlessIs Carmine the Next Sheila Carter on The Young and the Restless? Luke Kerr July 26, 2013 35 Comments Poor Lauren can’t catch a break on The Young and the Restless. In an interview with TV Guide Magazine, Tracey Bregman talks about Carmine (Marco Dapper) kidnapping her character and teases a connection to her infamous foe Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). TV Guide Magazine: A little something happens in the July 29 episode that suggests the Y&R writers may be turning Carmine into another Sheila. Bregman: The Sheila fans are certainly hoping there's a connection! TV Guide Magazine: Meaning what, that they think he secretly is Sheila? Bregman: Hey, it's happened! This is Y&R! [Laughs] Everybody else has played her! You know, it's funny about the fans. They liked the flirting between Lauren and Carmine but the second it crossed the line into an actual affair, it was really hard for them to take. They had such an emotional investment in Michael and Lauren being the only happy couple in Genoa City…but when our characters were the happiest, we were mostly off-screen. 35 Responses Scooter Smith July 26, 2013 Maybe he wasn’t born into the Mafia family. This is a bit of a stretch, but I could see them going there anyways. Dylan Fenmore was bought on the black market by sheila to swap with Scotty. He died of Meningitis. What if Carmine is his twin brother. Sheila found him, and brainwashed him to grow up thinking that his baby brother was stolen by Lauren, and then she didn’t care enough about him and let him die. Just a thought, but I could see something like that being the connection. Log in to Reply Dyllan July 26, 2013 I hate that they even suggest making Carmine crazy. He needs to be the sex pot on the show-I would keep him long turn on recurring status. Log in to Reply The_Moustache July 26, 2013 i hope they don’t kill off Carmine. Log in to Reply sillytee July 26, 2013 another ruined storyline for me :*( Log in to Reply Ryan-Scott July 26, 2013 Carmine is probably on his way out of GC….too bad…I can think of 5 other characters who have outlived their usefulness and should go before he does…..some have been on for several years…sigh.. Log in to Reply Ryan-Scott July 26, 2013 I agree about Tracey…she looks damn good. Fabulous! Log in to Reply nysam July 26, 2013 Carmine is HOT and they shouldn’t write him into a corner by making him crazy. He and Lauren were great together. Tell a mature, adult sexy love story between them and get rid of Michael. Poor Tracy Bregman deserves better. They have been recycling the same story with her for 3 decades now. Grant Cramer was obsessed with her and buried her alive in the 80s, Sheila was obsessed with her in the 90s and 00s and now Carmine!! There were better storylines to tell for Lauren and Carmine than this easy and predictable one. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 July 26, 2013 marco is soooooooooooo hot! Log in to Reply MsAgentProvocateur1 July 26, 2013 Don’t like the way Y&R is concluding this story. At all. They took the took easy way out– all the complexity the storyline once had has descended into a formulaic bore. I contrast it with the affair between Margo and Hal on dearly departed soap As The World Turns. Even though Margo reconciled with Tom, the residual effects from that affair lingered and provided a lot of storyline for years (Unfortunately the writers after Marland didn’t quite follow up on some of the groundwork laid in the decades by previous writers, but that’s another story). As it’s being written the Lauren, Carmine, Michael storyline has sort of sold itself short and pre-empted many future stories. Not to mention that the storyline has fizzled out into a stereotype–the kind of plot resolution that soaps are often harangued for. Too bad, the story started out firing on all cylinders only to descend into this. Log in to Reply pferrando July 26, 2013 Such a man…I really think they could utilize this guy in a lot of different ways. Log in to Reply LaDivaYR July 26, 2013 Marco Dapper is S-E-X. Tracey Bergman is a goddess. Christian LeBlanc is the love child of Joan Crawford & Liberace –and I say that as a compliment. Bitch is *fierce*! The writing is a big ‘ole mess of contradictions, repetitions and hackery. Oh Y&R… look at what Tarantula Eyes has done to you!!!!! Log in to Reply soapy opie July 26, 2013
i hope they don’t kill off Carmine.
Ditto x 10!!! Unfortunately, I don’t believe they have ever put Marco under contract. Guess that makes him expendable, while Super-BORING Dylan lives boringly on. P.S. – Sure wish Carmine would “kidnap” me!! Log in to Reply Restless Fan July 26, 2013 This was the one storyline that truly resonated with me and the writers took the cheap way out. From an idea standpoint Josh is really not much different that Maria. His story outlines are stale and not moving the show in a grittier and realistic direction. They want to mimic night time but are failing miserably. Maria was trying to be every show under the sun and He is apparently trying to be Mad Men. Whatever!!! Log in to Reply Santa_Barbara_4Ever July 26, 2013 HELLO CBS DAYTIME VP Woman that is sooooo dedicated to soaps (sorry, forgot your name)…. PLEASE tell me on what planet you think keeping Steve Burton (Dylan) and getting rid of Carmine makes sense????!!!!???!!! Bless their hearts, they just don’t know any better. That’s the only reason I can come up with. Bless their “special” little hearts. Log in to Reply soapy opie July 26, 2013 Also, Y&R hasn’t had one of their lame-o murder “mysteries” in a loooong time. Hate to see the next one be: “Who Killed Carmine?” Log in to Reply stoney07 July 26, 2013 Where can I read that Carmine is dying????? Nowhere??? Log in to Reply gato1 July 27, 2013 He needs to go to DAYS as Shawn Brady! Log in to Reply JasamForever July 27, 2013 Why would y&r keep carmine just because he is good looking? He can’t act at all so he needs to go. It is not always about an attractive male face. Log in to Reply ldylkng July 27, 2013 He’s hot, but he can go. Log in to Reply bishbay July 27, 2013 Carmine is far from the worst male actor on the show. That would be Burton, followed by Redaric (last name is escaping me). So acting ability is not a reason to get rid of Dapper. Log in to Reply tedew July 27, 2013 I can’t believe no one knows … Carmine IS Sheila! No one saw him leave??? This crap gets worse by the day. This is a soap you have to suspend belief sometimes, but really? Log in to Reply ChrisGa July 27, 2013 While I don’t think MD is all that by a long shot–he’s hot and all but even mentioning dim bulb Carmine in the same paragraph with the demented, iconic greatness that was Sheila Carter borders on sacrilege–the worst thing to come out of the story is Lauren once again being written as “the victim”. As others have said, this is now a several-times-a-decade occurrence and Carmine’s about as scary as a toddler who just started walking so seeing Lauren–once one of GC’s biggest ball busters–being held captive by a not-very-bright gym bunny…well, I’m just not seeing the danger here. Daisy Carter was more threatening on any given day than this guy… Log in to Reply pjc722 July 28, 2013 PLEASE DON’T MAKE THIS A STORY of him lurking in the background in 2 months or something. Honestly, if he disappears I am at my wits end in figuring out WHY MARIA BELL left and Jill came in!!! Seriously, if Maria stayed it would have been a HUGE BONUS because STEVE BURTON’s Dylan would not be around. SERIOUSLY, Carmine just disappears?! Is there only 3 cops on the force in GC?!! Paul… chief of police. Chavez… detective. And that chick, whats her name. WHERE’S THE BACKUP in a KIDNAPPING?!!! Log in to Reply tedew July 28, 2013 What’s going on here? I don’t even watch the next day previews at the end of YR, as I don’t want to know ahead of time. I am that way with all shows I watch, as they give away too much about what is to be shown, and it spoils it for me and a lot of others. Log in to Reply RedChair July 30, 2013 While watching the “fight” scene with Michael and Carmine, I flashed back to all those mis-sized stunt doubles for Roger Moore’s James Bond. Christian LeBlanc lost years from his body during those jump-cut scenes. Very funny stuff. I guffawed repeatedly. Log in to Reply pferrando July 30, 2013 I think they rushed through the kidnapping a bit…(remember Wheeler getting caught and carted away in the same episode?) Griffith has problems with wrapping up his stories… But I do like that they left it open for more Carmine. I’ve always hated lame fight sequences… Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
