New Showrunner to Simplify Emily's Love Life on Revenge

Fans having a hard time keeping up with Revenge vixen Emily Thorne’s (Emily VanCamp) love life can put the scorecards down. VanCamp revealed to TVLine her alter ego will be focused on two hunks instead of three like last season. VanCamp stated:

"She’s really using Daniel [Josh Bowman],” she concedes. “It’s unfortunate. There really is not the element of love between Emily and Daniel. It’s part of her plan. Jack [Nick Wechsler] and Aiden [Barry Sloane] are her two great loves, for very different reasons. Emily and Aiden understand each other on a totally different level than anyone could ever imagine. And yet the nostalgia and the childhood love and the purity and the wholesomeness of love with Jack is such an appeal to her, too.”

Team Daniel fans shouldn't expect Jack and Emily to begin their romance. According to VanCamp:

I can say the relationship with Jack is going to be tense for a while, obviously,” the actress acknowledges. “She screwed him real bad, let’s be honest.

Revenge returns Sept. 29 at 9 PM EST on ABC.

And that leaves a triangle that can ultimately kill the show. Lets be honest, Emily and Jack have no chemistry whatsoever. And the appeal seeing two childhood friends end up together just isn't that big. Jack should have been written out with his brother. The Porters ain't doing it for me since the show started.

I kind of liked Aiden and Emily together since she could be herself around her. However, Aiden's part in the dull storyline of season two kind of ruined that vibe for me. However it can be repaired.

Anyway it's a big mistake not writing for Emily/Daniel anymore. It would be much more interesting - like it was teased before - if Emily falls for the man who's family she hates and who she wants to use to get her revenge. Not to mention that obviously because of their off-screen romance, Emily and Daniel share the most chemistry.

But oh well. Guess the new EP has other plans. And while I agree that Kelley got a bit lost in the show's second season, I would have kept him on. Kelley reacted to what fans didn't like and the last couple of episodes of season two, I enjoyed again.
Honestly don't know about season three, even though I'm excited for Justin Hartley.

IMO, she has the most chemistry with Daniel.

I think because they are together IRL that's why Emily and Daniel's chemistry is better. I have no idea why the writers abandoned Daniel and Emily's love/fake story. Emily's whole plot was to get into the Grayson family and destroy them. Why couldn't they just keep on with that? All that stupid extra stuff was boring which made Aiden boring. Didn't care about the girl with the missing father who turned up dead. Season 2 was just terrible.

They have to get back on the Emily/Daniel thing in order for this series to work. Now that Jack knows who she is and they have made Jack into this angry guy, hopefully that will help with their chemistry and they can go back to the Daniel/Emily/Jack triangle.

Totally agree that Emily and Jack have ZERO chemistry. It's unfortunate that the EP wants to force that pairing rather than create for what is there, which is hot chemistry with Daniel. The continuation of making Jack as the end game for Emily could really be the show killer as the first commenter stated also.

Really? I'm glad Emily isn't interested in Daniel. I mean, let's face it, how could she truthfully be? Her whole association with the family is based on hate, and if she were to TRULY fall for Daniel she would have to give that up. She wouldn't nor couldn't destroy Daniel's family without hurting him. And that would cancel out the whole idea of Revenge. Besides, Daniel is a shallow, despicable ego-maniac and every bit of copy from his father. He may not realize it now but in 20 years he will be doing the exact same things as his father is now doing. Nor do I see any other kind of chemistry, except Emily rolling her eyes at what a doofus Daniel is. I just don't see any trust or deep-seated feelings of love there, not even from Daniel's side. To me it's mostly seemed like he wants just a nice, rich trophy wife. Again, every bit like his father married Victoria.

I don't want this to be a story where in the end Emily "realizes" that she shouldn't get revenge. That would be predictable, and I don't agree. She should get revenge. Now I know it might still pan out that way in the end of the whole series, but if it does then so be it. We'll deal with that once we get there. At least it hasn't happened that way up until now.

The odd man out for me in all of this is Aiden. Firstly the idea of having three men for one woman in the first place was kind of ludicrous (sorry Emily, but you're not THAT fetching). And with Aiden he always kind of felt like the unnecessary addendum to all this. Now I do like the character and the actor per se, he's a very earthly type of draw, but I actually saw the most sparks with him and Nolan. Now I know Aiden wouldn't probably be interested, but when their friendship progressed and Nolan talked to Aiden in that sweet voice I thought that is Nolan afraid or excited about what Aiden would do to him? Crown

My pick for Emily is Jack. He is the one true love who has been bubbling under all this time, and I don't think it's a question of childhood "friendship" I think it's more like the first love, or at least the person that knows her the best. Because Jack has seen her and known her even when she was just a happy little girl - without the revenge. And I think that Jack's seriousness, honesty and stoicness are exactly the things that Emily truly wants. Not a smug corporate tycoon like Daniel nor a thrill seeking adventuror like Aiden. Just a normal, happy, family life. And that she can have with Jack.

Yoryla - THANK YOU!! First for saving me writing out everything I wanted to say and felt and secondly just getting it.

I adore Jack and Emily and it's proof that not all people see chemistry the same because I think theirs has always been smoking but then you throw in Aiden and I am caught in one of my favortie things on TV a rootable triangle - Similar to my days watching the Sonny-Brenda-Jax Triangle I want her with both of them

I will start off by saying that I think that the old showrunner was the sacrificial lamb. I think that the suits got involved with the second season after the first season went off so well. They wanted to add characters and THEY made it complicated. The showrunner lost his job because the suits messed the show up. I think if he were allowed to run it as he did season one, the problem wouldn't have existed.

That being said...I had a number of problems with season two.

Jack's story with Declan was just BORING. The only thing that I liked about it is that Jack wasn't enamored with Emily anymore. I originally wanted them together, but Aiden changed my mind.

I am one of the few people that liked Aiden. The reality is, once she gets her revenge on the Graysons, something is needed to keep the show running. Aiden extends the story possibilities. I also like the idea of Emily with a facade in front of everyone except Aiden. I like her chemistry with Aiden as well. I don't want Emily to find that revenge isn't necessary. I want her revenge to be complete, and then she realize that it wasn't about revenge, it was about the thrill. So for that reason, she continues to do stuff. Maybe it is related to her orphanage days and she is looking out for the other kids (to still have some kind of heart).

I think Daniel should be a means to an end for the Graysons, and nothing more than that.

The Grayson family running for office was a horrible side story too..

YES, Yoryla!

It's Jack and Emily for me, for all of those reasons..

I'm a sucker for first loves, story..

.....except when it's about a certain Corinthos/Falconeri "love story" from the same network

LOL

Aiden reminded me of a really cheap knock off James Bond type of character, and was never needed on this show. I much prefer Emily/Daniel/Jack with Nolan as Em's BFF and partner in crime.

Declan was a waste of space from day one.

If finding out that Charlotte was her sister didn't stop Emily's revenge plot, you think that falling in love with Daniel will? LMAO Aiden needs to be axed. The triangle here has always been Daniel/Emily/Jack. Charlotte & Daniel's relationships wit Conrad & Victoria are strained at best. Emily could easily ice them out and be the new mistress of Grayson Manor. All romantic entanglements aside, the REAL supercouple of this show is Emily & Victoria. The only reason why David Clarke was framed by Conrad was because of his affair with Victoria. Their rivalry should be the backdrop of the show. Just like how the Olivia/Fitz/Mellie triangle is the backdrop of Scandal. With a soap, simpler is always better.

IMO, Emily falling for Daniel would not end her quest for revenge. Instead, it would add more tension to her relationship with Daniel. The ambiguity would make it interesting. Him finding out Emily used him and the conflict between the two, would make great TV. Forbidden love is fun.

Jack is a total bore. I've never seen a character in more desperate need of a write off than this one. Totally useless and no chemistry. He's a bore.

I'm guessing that Justin Hartley's character won't be in contention for Emily's heart either? Oy vey. My excitement for the third season is starting to dim. I'm not a fan of Jack or Aiden with Emily and I like having a romance to get behind.

I think that childhood friends who are destined to be together is boring and, for me, Jack and Emily don't have the chemistry to make it interesting or fresh. He was so much better with Amanda.

I can't really make any remarks on Aiden...it'd be too much actor bashing.

I loved the idea of Emily falling for her target. Team Daniel doesn't have to worry about an immediate Emily/Jack hook up? So what. Team Daniel also doesn't have much to look forward to apparently.

Co-sign. If Emily would fall for Daniel, it would certainly make for excellent drama. Falling in love with the guy who's family she wants to destroy. Like you said, Forbidden love is fun.

And as for Jack, he seems to be stuck in those depressing storylines that keep the character down. His father's death, the Amanda drama, her death and now Declan's death. His place in the show pretty much has written bore all over it.

Oh wow ...My Sister Raven...we are not on the same page for once. I don't like Jack and Emily at all...I don't think they have a ounce of chemistry...AND he looks like a munchkin alongside her. Ok maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but he is only 5'7" and she is close to 5'10" I believe. When she puts on her heels...WHICH she wears most of the time.... she is probably close to 6'2'. They don't fit physically. You can tell the director is always trying to find ways to film them from an angle, to down play this height discrepancy. Anyway.... whoever cast these two brothers for the show, really missed the mark. Declan was even worse. He reminded me of a hobbit. They should have both been big and beefcake. Working class studs for these roles. That would have sold them and their characters better. Instead they were both tiny little whiners. At least that is how they came off to me.

I think Emily had better chemistry with Aiden and Daniel...but I don't love either one of them either...they are both just passable. I was hoping this new guy Justin H would have been a new possibility for her. He is cute and tall. LOL. It will be interesting to see if they have any chemistry.
