Eric Braeden on The Young and the Restless' Head Writer Shake Up: "I'm Very Pissed Off!!!"

The Young and the Restless’ outspoken veteran Eric Braeden didn’t mince words on his thoughts regarding head writer Josh Griffith quitting the soap.

Word broke earlier today, Griffith decided to leave the No. 1 daytime drama on his own accord, reportedly due to “creative differences” with executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. When asked by a fan on Twitter about his opinion surrounding the backstage controversy, Braden replied:

I for one am glad he spoke out! JFP has tied his hands, he couldn't write the stories he wanted to tell, and he knows the history way better than her. So Eric saying he's pissed makes total sense to me!

You know, Maria Bell would probably still be there and would have probably been a success IF-

She would have remained EP of the show and hired 2 competent Co-Head Writers that know the history and vision. I think her doing both jobs is what messed it up. That is too much control....unless you are one of the best. It takes a team to make it work.....a team with different roles. It is a shame really. YR is becoming almost like another show all around. I don't get the YR 'vibe' I used to get when I watched it. It's strange. JFP lord have mercy. Sony/CBS gave you the # 1 show in daytime and all you had to do was dive into history and fix it (not re-create it.) But nooooo wayyyyy, she can't just do that. She has to make it her vision. CBS/SONY better wake up. It takes a lot to make a soap viewer tune out a show they have loved for years, but when they do, it is bitter and most time permanently. Also, it is contagious. History proves that it spreads like the plague when viewers stop tuning in...... Be warned....Be warned!

The VETS and only The VETS! Those little kids should not have come into play at all in this and Mondays episode. The only people who needed to be at that Mansion were Jill, Victor, Nikki, and Esther. Murphy should have come in later. Those kids had no business being there till later Monday after we find out Mrs. C has passed on. If there had to be kids there Billy not Cane. This was a disaster. But its as good as it gets when we have people in charge like Jill Farren Fuck Up.

Its the new Phyllis gotta be. They can't have her asleep to long. They have to wrap up that horrible paternity storyline. Michelle gave her ok to Angelica for them to recast not that that matters to the PTB.

My countdown clock has officially begun with today's episode too.

My mom used to watch Y&R before she turned on All My Children at 1 pm. so this makes it since 1976 for me, or 37 years.
My greatest fear since LML came on board was that the show would stink and the Duchess of Daytime would pass from this realm and a hack would preside over her death; I still have faint hope this fear does not become a reality.

But with JFP and her reign of terror full on... I believe this may be just a few weeks away.

Lastly if Sony can hold a grudge against the Bells and their extended network and ignore the fans who love classic Y&R, than I guess we need to act accordingly and show them where the real power exist...in the hands of WE the people!

That"s depressing.

NOWAY, I am about as long time viewer as Heymon, and he is telling it like it is.
The show is so bad now, it is all I can do to hang on.

I think Jeanne, James E. Reilly, Mr. & Mrs. Ted Corday and William J. Bell are all watching DAYS from their 6ft. under abodes. You know, DAYS does have a habit of wiring coffins for outside world monitoring. lol

I haven't seen today's show yet but I am scared.

I'm beginning to think they should just rebroadcast the memorial when Kay (really Marge) died in 2008 or 2009 and Genoa City thought it was Kay.
MAB did a better job of honoring her then than this team will do now I'm afraid.

I doubt the (re)cast is for Phyllis.... they are keying in on the words "young" and "wants to make her mark in the world".

Can we add that the actress they hire be "orange free" as well? Smile

I for one thought today's episode was a great beginning to a sad chapter in the show's history. I really don't know what you people want. I have watched for 27 straight years and about 4-5 on and off before that. The ratings are certainly telling a different story from last year at this time. I guess some people just need to be constantly being negative.

Color me confused. I LOVED today's show.

Has no one else noticed/realized that there was another BIG STORM ( compared to the blizzard of 2013 ) and it was a great setting to add to the Billy and Victoria scenes and the goings on at the mansion?

I think that little bit of backdrop added a lot to the scenes.

And we got a lot of the VETS, but hey. Devon and Chloe are related to Kay in a way, so they got post cards too.

I loved Jill's reference to the "cold presence" she felt....

And with the Sharon/Nick/Faith scene, they are comparing the past to the future... we all know Faith is gonna be a thorne in Avery's side when it comes to the wedding.

Honestly folks.... todays scenes were all about the future: the future of the Abbot marriage; the future of Nick, Sharon, and Avery, and the future of GC without a Katherine Chancellor in it.

Maybe it is just the writing. Because it just seemed rushed and adlibbed to me. It was Like everyone on that set is just going through the motions. I'm just glad its still on and I will try to stop bashing it. Hopefully in a month when the new writing starts cause Josh G. is gone in a few days. The show will get it together.

Actually, I just now watched the episode and the Katherine parts actually were quite good - much better than I had anticipated. They treated it as the A-storyline of the day, with Jill getting the money shots before the opening and the closing, and a lot of people were there and the lights going out when figuring out where Katherine is was pretty good.

Of course, I ff'd all the rest, especially Avery. That was a mistake to have her in this episode. She is just nauseating. And this Sharon is not the real Sharon.

I just hope there is a real funeral or a memorial for Katherine, in a church. The people who were omitted today were Lauren & Michael, Jack, Traci, and Neil, at the very least. But I understand that not every could be or have to be at this party: if these people are at the funeral than I'm okay with it.

I've always said the CORE VETS of Y&R are six people: Victor, Nikki, Katherine, Jill, Jack and Ashley. As for who shouldn't have been there in today's episode were Cane, Lily and Chloe....
