INTERVIEW: Catching Up With Real-Life General Hospital Lovebirds Kelly Thiebaud and Bryan Craig
While his off-screen girlfriend's character is plotting baby capers in Port Charles, Craig's Prince Harry-esque, bad boy, Morgan Corinthos, is caught in a love triangle with Kiki Jerome (Kristen Alderson) and Morgan's heir apparent big brother Michael (Alderson's real-life suitor Chad Duell).
“I have no idea what is going to happen," admitted Craig. "There are definitely more surprises. I don’t know if Kiki will end up with me, or with Michael. If she ends up with Michael, it will cause a big problem between the two brothers. If she ends up with me, there may be a lot of arguing too. I get the script a week before, so I can’t even say how it’s going to go!”
Until he landed his role on General Hospital, Craig had never watched soaps.
“I had no idea what I was getting myself into," said Craig. "I jumped on completely blind. Even when I did get the role, I didn’t even know I was working with Kristen. The only two actors I knew I'd be working with were Laura [Wright] and Maurice [Benard], who are phenomenal. Now I really do love working with everyone.”
Craig also had no idea how intense the work schedule was on a daytime drama.
“I’ve never worked on a television show that moves so fast in my entire life," said the handsome star. "I am used to shooting an episode a week. We shoot 10 a week and get one take for everything! So I really tip my hat to everyone in the cast.”
Craig also gave props to his fellow castmates, Alderson, Easton and Roger Howarth (Franco), who recently had to create new roles on the sudser, after coming on initially as their One Life to Live characters.
“There aren't too many shows that recast the same person in different roles; I am sure it’s hard for the fans to get used to," began Craig. "But those actors work really hard trying to make people believe they are now someone different than who they had previously saw them as for a long time. It’s a challenge for them for sure.”
