Not a good detour for FF franchise. Asian american director jared lin revived the franchise and turned it into a billion dollar franchise w/ lush locales and balletic car sequences and a very racially diverse cast! FF has numerous African american actors and hispanic american actors. It even had an Asian american actor w/ FF fave sung kang who’s char was killed off on newest hit bec FF 4-6 were pretty much prequels bec his char died on FF 3 w/c was FF: tokyo drift. Typical hollywood whitewashing now that FF’s a billion dollar franchise and Asian american director jared lin is not directing next FF? They’ve cast kurt and white british actor statham and now this oltl actor. They should have cast more women of color and more Asian american actors to replace Sung kang’s char and not this oltl actor. FF is a franchise abt racial diversity and it has enough white chars already. It’s too bad FF is going this route bec Sung Kang’s char was even romantically paired w/ giselle!

It’s seldom that a hollywood movie portrays Asian americans w/ romantic storyline bec majority of hollywood movies even asexualize an Asian american char even on testosterone charged action movies! That alone makes FF very progressive for backwards/trashy hollywood. FF really could resurrect Sung Kang bec he is a FF fave. They did that w/ letty who perished onscreen. The audience wouldn’t care bec FF is really a soap opera for straight male crowd w/c is it’s core audience.
