People like soaps. People also like to make fun of soaps. IFC wants to give the people what they like with TheSpoils of Babylon, a six-part miniseries produced by Funny or Die.
Referencing the epic sagas of Dynasty, Dallas, and The Thorn Birds, TheSpoils of Babylon will follow the exploits of the powerful Morehouse family.
Jonas Morehouse (Tim Robbins) is a wealthy oil magnate, whose daughter Cynthia (Kristen Wiig) is in love with her adopted brother Devon (Tobey Maguire). Adding to the drama is Cynthia’s calculating son Winston (Haley Joel Osment), who’s out for his own gain. After a falling out, Devon begins an affair with a scientist named Dixie (Jessica Alba), adding to Cynthia’s woes.
The Spoils of Babylon is to be presented as an adaptation of the fictional book of the same name by Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell).
The sprawling soap spoof will debut January 9, 2014 at 10 pm EST on IFC.
