HomeTagsComings & GoingsIs Paul Getting a New Family Member on The Young and the Restless? Luke Kerr October 31, 2013 Comings & Goings, The Young and The Restless 17 Comments The Young and the Restless may have killed off Ricky (Peter Porte) and Heather (Jennifer Landon) may be MIA, but it looks like Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) won't be without a blood relative in Genoa City for long. According to Soap Opera Uncensored, The Young and the Restless is casting Josh Williams, a 30-year-old man who will be a major business player. 17 Responses harlee490 October 31, 2013 Here we go another new character…WTF? So now these writers are going bring another illegitimate child? If a blood relative who? Patti is cray cray, Todd is priest…maybe a son of Steve his oldest brother? We are officially in round two for new writers and new characters…geez just stop! Log in to Reply bobbyew October 31, 2013 The cast is too inflated! Write for the people you have now. If you are going to bring in a new businessman you better write a platinum business storyline. Get rid of all those other people taking up space in the dressing rooms and on that set. Bring in some new office sets and please give me a boardroom. Thankyou. Log in to Reply pferrando October 31, 2013 The cast is still so large that we have days go by without seeing many of them. So why yet another contract player? Why do new writers feel the need to bring in their own characters immediately instead of attempting to write for the 30-40 cast members already on the screen? The cast is so damned inflated now, with so many characters that us long timers, have no interest in. I like the post above yours, only he should have said, “BORED ROOMS” of useless characters. They put Melissa (Abby) on contract and can’t even write a story for her. I hate that Jill, Traci, and Ashley are all on recurring status. Please write for the established characters Y&R! Log in to Reply pferrando October 31, 2013 I counted the cast today, and with recurring characters, like Jill, Traci, Lily, there are 38. Too many. Ugh! Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 October 31, 2013 I guess that with the casting of Andrew Abbott and Josh Williams, Y&R will have some exits in it’s upcoming months. Log in to Reply NathanHastingsSr. October 31, 2013 Why Jill? Smh Log in to Reply Daniel St. John November 1, 2013 So who is a FOJ that can fill this role? Brandon Barash? Timothy Gibbs? Log in to Reply tedew November 1, 2013 Just wait and see because you all might be quite surprised. Besides, Paul could use someone close to him who is not clinging, demanding, bonkers, insane or a priest. Hopefully the new guy will be non of the former. But it pisses me off to no end that they give her a contract and Marcy Rylan was offered nothing more than recurring. Not to mention, Abby’s being written as just another random soap blonde instead of the firecracker she was when Rylan was in the role. And Ordway has yet to make the lazy, pedestrian writing she’s given pop the way Rylan could. Log in to Reply pjc722 November 1, 2013 I have no problem with new cast members especially one tied to a major character but I do hope that their story is tied to that existing character or they are brought on to be connected to another character while not being the main focus out of the gate. Sure paul has a long ago forgotten older brother… He still has a living mother on the show who is on her knees praying in church, remember… But if this character moves to Wisconsin with a chip on his shoulder it’s a waste because WHY MOVE THERE? We are still waiting on the arrival of that new Abbott as well. I think we need new blood for better story and more secrets. But I agree it has to be without neglecting other characters. I don’t think the show is bloated with cast but I do think that they play one story/character too much in a week or weeks to the neglect of other characters and that’s the sad part. Weeks of Adam and Dylan while jack is a prop for HEAD OF THE FAMILY status or Jill is off finding her “treasure” or even Leslie having more to do then listen to Neil tell her “what she doesn’t understand” is not balanced. I truly think that all the characters on now could have good story while some have major story. But it’s not played that way and that’s why it’s unbalanced. Nick should have more to do than carrying a gym bag or drop his kid off at his moms or ex wife. Victoria… Sure played dull by heinle.. Needs more story than a whispering barefoot and pregnant (wannabe) in the kitchen wife to Billy’s boorish husband. Even Chavez needs more story than being a desk detective and bromantic office confidante to Kevin. I think compelling top tier story with second and even third tier stories could make Y&R tops not just in ratings but in the eyes of viewers. Use Tracey more. Give jack more dynamic story. Make Jill a central female business power. Give Abby sweeter dates while showing her work. Make Leslie more than a hot girlfriend to Neil. There is 5 hours a week to the show and the cast is definitely 50% or more smaller than years past so it’s achievable (Remember people… Back in its hayday, soaps had maids, butlers, secretaries, restaurant owners, waitresses, office workers, lawyers, etc. who filled scenes even while the shows had TOP STARS, supporting players AND. B-list characters that filled their ranks. Now it’s just core characters but sadly misused.) Log in to Reply pferrando November 1, 2013 I may be wrong, but I don’t think Ordway is on contract. I liked her at first, but with little screen time, and then having her be paired with Tyler, that’s pretty much the kiss of death. I was very disappointed that they didn’t have at least one private scene with Ashley and her daughter. (Longer than the three or four sentences they shared this past week.) This is when the writers glaring inexperience with this show sticks out. They can have a full scene with Victoria and Dylan, but barely have the Abbotts interact individually with each other. Why didn’t Traci and Ashley talk more? No Ash and Nikki run in? C’mon Altman. Learn the history of the show you are now HW at. Log in to Reply harlee490 November 1, 2013 I just read something from a poster on Michael Fairman Soaps, is stating this “new” recast is for Billy Miller? I assume the rumblings about Billy’s contract was happening and now he’s got his Emmy reel and been hearing rumors for the last couple of months about him leaving but why use Paul & Williams family? Now, I could see a secret casting to (not rock the boat anymore) of Billy Abbott as this new Abbott supposedly but not Paul. I think maybe this could be right about Miller leaving and possibly using this story as an exit story. It’s a wait and see… Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
