Log in to Reply Jon November 21, 2013 That’s about as legitimate as Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize! Log in to Reply dewlove November 21, 2013 Hi All…So al0792, are you among the ignorant who believes she’s a bigot to white people or a bigot to black people? Please explain because there are plenty of people who believe one or another. Doesn’t really matter which because your comment says more about you than it will ever say about her. And Jon, please be sure to post a picture of your 3rd runner up ribbon from your Boy Scout Jamboree apple bobbing contest so we all can see what a legitimate award is. The award Oprah was presented “recognizes those individuals who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors”. These are just a few of the previous award winners, a group of which Oprah surely belongs. Georgia O’Keeffe Norman Rockwell Walt Disney Bob Hope Maya Angelou T.S. She’s an articulate, intelligent, and successful black woman. I can guarantee that her critics in this thread are far from being at least three out of those five things. DEAL WITH IT. That is proof that she calls it like she sees it. In her interview, she told the truth. There is a generation of people that were born and bred in racism, and like all feelings and belief systems, they will die off when that generation passes on. It happens. Now, I happen to think that racism will get better with each generation, but I don’t think it will ever die. Also..for the record, she never said that “racism will end when white people die”. She never said that. I hope you listened to the interview because that headline is incorrect and misleading, intentionally. She referred specifically to racists and their way of thinking, and she didn’t specify color. So I am going to make this personal. I believe that the white person that was forced to integrate schools can still harbor anger that the government forced them to go to schools with black people. I also believe that the black person whose sister was killed in a random bombing or hanging because they were black, can still harbor anger against white people. It goes both ways. So stating that racism exists, and pointing out that it is mostly generational…doesn’t make a person racist. Log in to Reply Llanview76 November 22, 2013 I agree 100% with you Court. That is how I took it too when she said what she said, and I don’t even care for Oprah.
