TV Guide Network Picks Up The Bold and the Beautiful

Will Forrester Creations' next seductive collection be called BLADE (Brooke Logan's After Dark Escapades)? It very well could be, since The Bold and the Beautiful is heading to cable in primetime!

TV Guide Network (TVGN) has picked up exclusive cable rights to the world's most watched serial drama. Starting Mon., Dec. 2, TVGN will encore the prior day’s B&B episode weekdays at 6:30 p.m. EST/PT, immediately preceding TVGN’s encore airings of  The Young and the Restless (weekdays at 7 p.m. EST/PT). In addition, fans can catch-up on all five of the prior week’s most recent episodes on TVGN every Sunday from 11 —1:30 p.m. EST starting on December 8.

"The Bold and the Beautiful has been one of the most popular daytime dramas on television for more than two decades and now, for the first time ever, the series will be making its cable TV debut, giving loyal viewers more opportunities to catch-up on their favorite show,”  said TVGN's Entertainment and Media President Brad Schwartz ."The Young and the Restless has made TVGN one of the top female networks in the country, weekdays at 7 pm.  It only made sense to give B&B fans what they've been demanding from us."

Added, B&B showrunner Bradley Bell, “I am looking forward to a successful partnership with TVGN. Our fans have asked us for an opportunity to watch a second run. I’m delighted that we will now be able to fulfill that desire with such an esteemed cable network.”

I wonder what ABC is going to do about re-airing their soaps once Soapnet is caput at the end of the year. But maybe they think it is not lucrative.

I guess this is good news for those of who still watch this hot mess.
but seriously, the show isn't watchable at all.
Its a show only about Brooke & Hope and I can't watch those two jump from bed to bed.

This is a good move, and another argument against "soaps are dying".

I would love it if they would pick up the remaining soaps and aired them in the evenings just like soapnet always did. I agree, B&B hasn't been watchable in years, but I'd probably use it to watch Days and GH on days that I'm not home and forget to DVR it.

Since TVGN already struck a deal with Sony to repurpose Y&R, I'm guessing DAYS could be going there next (post-Soapnet). But somehow I doubt that Disney/ABC would want to sell same-day reruns of GH to any channel that's beginning to resemble their shuttered Soapnet. And really, from a business perspecitive, wouldn't it be better for ABC to keep GH in-house and repurpose the soap on something like ABC Family? I mean - do countless reruns of "Reba" and "That 70s Show" actually draw better numbers than a repurposed GH?

While I happily agree that soaps are far from dead - and making a resurgence! - let's face it: this is simply TVGN wisely picking up any show to fill it's lackluster programming grid. In the era of DVRs and online viewing, re-airs of soaps are not exactly ratings bonanzas. But B&B is a solid show with a loyal following and will be replacing one of the current four nightly re-runs of "Who's The Boss?" on TVGN. I can't see how ABC would benefit by having GH re-air on a little-watched network at this point unless a desperate network like TVGN throws money at them.

tv guide is affiliated with CBS. I am assuming the network must have some kind of connection already. I am not surprised by this news and I was surprised it was not sooner. They started running Y&R a while ago.

Man I would love it if they picked up Days also!

There may be some posters on here who think BB is unwatchable, but it's ratings are at almost a five year high which means about 4 mil people enjoy it. And that's actually a LOT.

It's hit and miss for me, but at least we still have a Bell, Jack Smith and Ed Scott driving over there.

This ship is steady.

Good point pferrando, it is totally hit or miss, but overall a good team going in the right direction.

Why can't the TVGN air in Texas?!?! I downloaded the CBS app so I can watch episodes but still, that does Texas have against TVGN?

ABC should air General Hospital late night on ABC Family.

DOOL can air on one of the hundreds of channels owned by "Cabletown" NBC. But since DOOL is owned by Sony, it would be stupid for TVGN not to air DOOL also since they already have a deal

^^^^^^ I live in Texas and when I had the premium cable package with Time Warner Cable TVGN was included.

I have Time Warner Cable and when I called them about it they said Texas doesn't have that channel. Maybe it's certain parts of Texas. I'm in Dallas. They don't have it here

Since CBS owns half the network, I was wondering when it would happen. I could see TVGN making a deal with Sony for Days.

BB is very watchable right now Big smile (love-hate thing for me) and ratings are proving its strength and growth regardless of all the hating about the soap.

I just wish that TVGN was available in HD. Those soap operas look horrible in SD. I usually record the soaps while at work and look at it at lunch anyway. Glad I can watch on line also

Logan...I'm in Dallas, and also inquired. Not on their lineup currently.

And TWC sucks btw...

I use the CBS.com site for the NUMEROUS pre-emptions we get here. There seems to be some damn explosion every week.
