This Thanksgiving week on The Young and the Restless, Genoa City's families gather to count their blessings, as the Newman family reels from the fallout of Nikki's revelation. Watch this week's Y&R promo after the jump! 43 Responses sillytee November 25, 2013 that friday ‘cliffhanger’ was such a plot driven mess. nick went way overboard with his anger just because Dyldo came in with Blahvery. i though they had 53 conversations before all this saying they were gonna be civil with one another.. bad bad writing..the reveal should have been soapy and took place at nick and avery’s wedding!! Log in to Reply harlee490 November 25, 2013 It’s plot driven alright, the only part I saw of the ending was Nick confronting Dildo….why? to driven the plot of “Nick vs Dylan”. Then Dildo said “you get out of face” and I changed the channel back to Days. It was God awful in so many ways. Log in to Reply LaDivaYR November 25, 2013 I demand a DNA test, too! Someone needs to swipe JFP’s sheets for SB “samples”, lol. I bet you two wigs and a dinner date with Maury that Nikki is NOT THE MOTHER! Lawd, when this Dyldo nightmare end??? I think there’s a better chance that Genoa City will declare Dylan the second coming once the DNA shows that his blood is half Nikki Reed-Newman and half Monavie. Log in to Reply bobbyew November 25, 2013 Just get Billy some Justice Quickly. Tired of hearing that horrible Omen music when the show opens and ends. All the other stuff I can deal with. We just have to get used to the fact that Dyldo is a Reed. Log in to Reply bobbyew November 25, 2013 So true Armageddon, LaDiva explains it all. lol Log in to Reply tedew November 25, 2013 I highly doubt that DYLAN will not turn out to be Nikki’s long lost son. Let’s face it, he’s here to stay and we now have to put up with selfish, self-centred, self hating, entitled Nick having to deal with a much much smarter brother on one side and one he just can’t help hating for other reasons on the other. Nick bugs me much more than Dylan ever could with those vacuous glares of hatred; and especially how he treated his mother on the day of the revelation (which really was not all that bad considering what Nikki was up against at that very moment). Of course more than anything I’m really really fed up with the over usage of DYLAN be called Dildo, etc. Also, don’t forget that it was not Dylan who destroyed Saint Nick’s hallowed future with the Angel Avery. Avery has horns, not wings. Log in to Reply Restless Fan November 25, 2013 The Friday cliffhanger reveal was not good. Not even remotely. It was actually pretty cringe worthy. In fact watching it again on today’s episode prompted me to change the channel. Several decades of loyalty and I’m trying to watch but I just can’t get into the show. It’s so bland and so contrived. I don’t know how JFP has won so many emmys? Have not seen stellar work at display since she’s been in charge. Moments do not a good producer make. Log in to Reply harlee490 November 25, 2013 I’m actually don’t have a problem with JM as I do SB, I could watch Josh anytime over Steve Burton. Dildo (sorry tedew) but he’s more painful to watch for me than Josh. Log in to Reply pferrando November 25, 2013 I’m not as upset about Nikki having a son as I am with the way it was revealed. The set up was good, but to have her blurt it out the way she did was bad. Were was the drama? I just don’t think these writers know how to play it out. Poor execution. The best reaction of the bunch was Victoria trying to be supportive of Nikki, and then running home and grabbing the beers. It also finally knocked Billy out of his “state” and made him realize the world is still going on around him. I’ve never physically seen any of Phelps other work, but THIS is what she thinks The Young and the Restless is? Good God. Her EP-ness may have worked over at GH, but she can’t sell it in GC. Log in to Reply ChrisGa November 25, 2013 Yeah, this showrunner–or should I say, showRUINER–and her “writers” just don’t know how to play story beats the way other shows do; for example, if this had been DAYS, they would’ve wrung ever drop of character drama outta that scene and, yes, it probably would’ve taken place at a wedding. As is, the reveal was sloppy and, as the DC crew likes to say, a hot m-to-the-s. However, as pferrando pointed out, the scene with Victoria and Billy was good. I hope this is the start of some resolution to that story(and the ending of the Omen soundtrack in the background). TBH, the only thing I’m truly enjoying without reservation right now on this show is Sharon Case(well, and Stitch and Chavez, but they’re hardly on). I still hate what they’ve done to that character but Case just really knows how to sell it. Log in to Reply tedew November 25, 2013 I certainly don’t enjoy the premise of Nikki having a new babe in arms to deal with but the simple fact is; is that she blurted out the truth in the heat of the moment. Dylan probably should get a DNA test (if he knows what it is and can trust the always spotty Genoa City results) but he could also just go to his aunt and confirm what Nikki told him she told her. Also he should know she’s his mother because how often is she about as stiff as he is? Log in to Reply yojoromo4469 November 26, 2013 TEDEW is right on. They both look look someone stuck a 2 by 4 up their ass. To me she appears to be in pain. She is so stiff looking. I actually find it hard to believe her stated date of birth. My wife is spotting her about 10 years and doesn’t look anywhere near that haggard. and don’t get me started in the worse hair do’s of Y and R history. I wouldn’t let my wife out the door with that mess she has stuck on top of the rest of the bleached blond disaster. Log in to Reply FoxCrane November 26, 2013 [quote=TraceyAbbot101]oh my….. The awkwardness between her and that bottle was very noticeable. Log in to Reply pjc722 November 26, 2013 To be honest I don’t get why they created a second son for Nikki. It will only make nick look like the spoiled brat bad guy with him at odds with his younger brother, Adam (rightfully so) and his older… BY ALOT … Brother DULLyan. My biggest problem with the timing of the story is the fact that we are still trying to figure out (well keystone cops are) who ran down Delia in between counseling Nikki and Kevin, and trying to get Michael and fen out of prison. There are too many big stories spread throughout the show that is forcing characters who should be in other stories not to be in specifics ones. Kevin should be front and center in michael n fens story and he is not because he is sidelining in Delia’s story. The list is endless and boring of other examples. And speaking of endless, after Adam changed his clothes more than twice in this silly and NO PURPOSE hit and run, he became a criminal and lost any and all my sympathy. We all know victor will get the goods on Adam and blackmail his son for some reason but in the end, Adam, after his son got a clean bill of health should have walked into the police station and confessed. Now, he is just guilty. Log in to Reply Blue Skies and Palomino Ponies November 26, 2013 Please know that the following post is not meant to have any kind of snooty inflection, and I get the bigger issue — the song has taken on the mythic proportions of that well-worn Dylan and Avery song– but just as a point of information or clarification…the “Agnus Dei/Alleluia” is not intended to be creepy/Omen-like. It’s a prayer. “Lamb of God/Alleluia.” Just a solemn, reverential church song. No devil…just a little lamb…in this case,Delia. This ends the Catholic Schoolgirl Post o’ the Day. Peace! Log in to Reply Blue Skies and Palomino Ponies November 26, 2013 p.s. — Totally on board with the suckage of the big reveal and that whole storyline itself, but one thing I liked yesterday — Sharon potentially coming on board as Summer’s manager? Now that could set up some interesting stuff once Phyllis comes out of her plastic surgery…err, coma. Log in to Reply JaneyCanuck November 26, 2013 Really?! A DNA test? Wow – who’da thunk it? The big reveal was a dry as a popcorn fart…. Nickelass filled his diaper with indignation and refused to share his toys – or his mommy – with his new-found sibling. Victurdia drank from a beer bottle because that is what us “plain folks” do in such a moment. And Mr. Gudegast delivered his familiar and predictable scowl with the dark mutterings we have come to know and love. I would never offend by calling Dylan anything but Dyldumb, never Dildo. A Dildo is useful and – I am given to understand – pleasurable. 0:) Log in to Reply pferrando November 26, 2013 Blue Skies…I also never thought Omen, but Catholic Church Chant. BUT…it’s become way overdone. Let’s have Phelps sit on her hands for a day and break out the old YR score for better effect. Even Maria would know better than to put a tune on repeat every day. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 November 26, 2013 Tuesday’s show: loved the scenes with MM and the baby who “plays” Conner. Also liked the scenes with Adam/Chelsea; the Thanksgiving party at the Chancellor mansion; the scenes with Chloe/Kevin ( are things warming up with those two again??)…. and the scene with the special appearance by Jeanne Cooper. Did not really care for the scenes with “the bug”/Paul; Dylan/Avery; and just did not like the “forced” dialog between Nikki and TGVN. How many times does he have to make threats about someone? Same ole sh**… Still up in the air with the Sharon/Nick plot twist… is CoCo Crazy Sharon gone for good? Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 November 26, 2013 My favorite line of the day… Esther, to Jill: ” I’m NOT cooking a turkey! ” Jill: ” Well, I got the ice for the drinks! ” LOL Log in to Reply pferrando November 26, 2013 Tuesday’s script was from Janice Ferri Esser according to YR Insider. She has written for YR since back in the 80’s and has won multiple Emmys. Why wasn’t this woman promoted to HW? A lot of great moments on today’s show. Log in to Reply bobbyew November 26, 2013 Beautiful Thanksgiving in Genoa City on Y&R. Great scenes at the Chancellor Mansion, Michael making his family happy. Victor and Nikki loving one another as well as their sons and their significant others. Adam and Chelsea with their gobble gobble baby. The writing and music was well done. The Williams are the only Catholics in GC as far as I know. Log in to Reply bobbyew November 27, 2013 Beautiful Winter Wednesday in GC. These past two days have been the best Y&R has been in months. Please pay Eileen her coin and write her a powerful storyline as you have with every one as of late. The Dylan storyline has grown on me and I’m used to the fact that he is a Reed. Get Eileen back full time. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s and Monday’s. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 November 27, 2013 Y&R is on tomorrow ( US Thanksgiving )? Log in to Reply pferrando November 27, 2013 Next two days are classic episodes. The past two days have been the best I’ve seen in a while. The focus has been on the core families, and we’ve seen everyone. Loved the Nikki and Victor scenes at the end of today’s episode. Josh definitely knew what the audience was wanting when he came aboard as he immediately put these two back together. Victor is treating Nikki like he should these days instead of the two of them being so toxic under Maria. Hopefully the new trio sees this and leaves them together. Couples don’t have to be boring, and these two together never are. Log in to Reply Restless Fan November 27, 2013 Pferrando! I agree Janice Ferri Esser should have been Y&R’s HW. She has been with the show a long time and knows the history. I can always tell when one of the newer writers has written a specific episode. The difference? Old writers refer to things that happened. New ones make shit up. It drives me crazy how many scenes in a given week take place on this show where characters are reminiscing about made up events. With such a arsenal of history to mine from that is just pure lazy! Log in to Reply Restless Fan November 27, 2013 Also I am so looking forward to tomorrows repeat late 90’s ep where Jill and Kay fight in the attic. Anyone who doubts just how far Y&R has fallen from its perch only need watch. I’m excited to watch an ep where characters had motivation, stories were rooted in history, hair models weren’t chocking the show like toxic gas and music helped propel story. Get your wine out folks! This is what this soap should be! Log in to Reply harlee490 November 27, 2013 [quote=pferrando] Next two days are classic episodes. This is because of the holiday the focus was on the YR’s core families. Jill, Jill, Jill always happy and puts a smile on face and yes TraceyAbbott that line between Esther & Jill was a hoot and so “Jill & Esther”. I actually liked today’s episode (Wed) even more so and can you believe I watch the whole episode without changing the channel which hasn’t happened in weeks. Ashley home was wonderful & once again the Abbott family, I just wish regardless Billy came home for the holiday missed opportunity not to include him, I loved the scenes between N&V at the end. This is how I want to see V&N not Victor screaming at her about her (should be abortion) Dylan. I loved the scenes between Victor & Victoria and Victoria nailed his ass when she pointed out if “Victor was mad at Nikki for not telling him or mad for telling him the truth or just mad” OK, Sharon is acting like Sharon I know of but my gripe is you can’t have Sharon hot or cold, one minute she’s off her meds and next she isn’t that’s not realistic and it seems they just dropped the story no beats played at all. It’s confusing story-telling and not fair to the character. Loving Shick, always been a fan, those two SC & JM just slips into their relationship with ease. The Winters was also nice and included Moses finally we see him. I didn’t care for Tyler at the Abbotts he should had been with Leslie, and we all know another new character will be popping up…Tyler’s ex who’s texting him! |( My favorite part was Summer & Jack on the plane…what a badly missed opportunity this team made not to truly make Summer an Abbott, this is when I soured on the revelation & YR when she wasn’t but Sharon going cray-cray once again. How stupid to be afraid to show Nicholas in a new light…a side as his daddy. I always said and still believe there was more soap opera story by letting Summer be a true Abbott. If it’s not a holiday or anniversary JFP & hacks doesn’t concentrate on the core families as like the last two days, afraid viewers might enjoy it better than Dildo\Cupcake Barbie other newbies? >) Log in to Reply tedew November 28, 2013 harlee490 … Tyler must have been very hungry or got very full because he did have his second dinner at the Winters did he not … and Leslie was there. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 November 28, 2013 I liked the scene with Dylan, Victoria, and her hair It was well written and it seemed to drive home some points about Nikki. I wonder if TGVN will hold this “secret” against Nikki in the long run? I did miss Billy Miller in the Abbot scenes today, just cannot get over the Kyle makeover…… still he is not screen worthy. Noah more than makes up for it. Great to see ED back in the scenes, and she pops in to see Victor. That will be interesting. Even the scenes with Nick, Noah, Sharon, and Faith were well written. I enjoyed them! Log in to Reply tedew November 28, 2013 Of course Victor will stew and stew and again prove to Nikki that he remains the world class asshole she knows and loves for some reason. Just like his mini-me son Nick who continues to be a world class thug asshole. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 November 28, 2013 Well Nick needs to compete with the much better Adam! Log in to Reply bc1954 November 29, 2013 To me, when Nikki walks, she reminds me so much of Mrs Tudball (sp), the Carol Burnett secretary to Tim Conway’s boss. I can so picture The Great Carol Burnett walking around his desk with her butt up in the air. (check it out on youtube kiddies). Classic stuff. The nerve of TGVN to talk about Noah’s mom to him like that! Why am I even surprised? What a jerk! Noah should of told his grandpa, “Well, my mom may have her issues, but at least she didn’t just dump me off in some orphanage!” “…dry as a popcorn fart…” Never heard that one before. HILARIOUS!!! Victor should tell Nikki, “I’d be happy to accept your rape son into our family just as warmly as you and the sanctimonious children that came out of your sainted vagina treated Hope’s and my son when he first came to town. Remember Nikki, Adam had just lost his mother, and he was alone in this world too…You Shriveled Up Prune!” Why is Victor making such a big deal about Nikki not telling him about this golden (orange) child during ALL their years together? Seriously!?! With all their marriages to other people, if we add it up, they’ve probably only been married to each other for a few months! Log in to Reply harlee490 November 29, 2013 Yes, Tyler was and I know was heading over to the Winters tedew but he just stuck out like a sore thumb…another character that has taken 180 degree turn in character with no direction…he’s just boring.
