You guys are so right about your Y&R assessments. Y&R doesn’t do soapy anymore. Its so bland. And Luke, Thank You, Devon is an obnoxious character. The writers have completely squandered Kay’s death. Devon inheriting billions with the lame story that followed is yawn inducing. The money hasn’t changed Devon in any interesting way or propelled the character. Then out of the blue he was burdened by it. Devon has the biggest stick up his ass I have ever seen on a soap character. He hasn’t been interesting in years. Devon is a floater on the canvas and giving him billions seemed like a way to make him relevant. I wouldn’t mind one bit if he was written off. To me Devon is second to Cane as the most obnoxious character to stick around through several regimes.

Loved the podcast Ladies and Gents. I’m going to award a few more categories that I may add to as more pop into my head:

Best Reason For Kids To Fear Their Parents: General Hospital. In the past few years Sonny shot his son, Heather stabbed her son and Connie/Kate hit her son with a car. Which leads to the single most recycled line of dialogue on GH – Oh my God, Sonny (Connie/Kate, Heather), you’ve shot (hit/stabbed) your son!

Best Karmic Retribution: Bill Spencer, B&B. After throwing a fit because Liam refused to wear the sword necklace, Bill stabs himself with it to manipulate Liam into wearing it only to reveal to the viewer that the tool faked it. It was great when Quinn really did stab him with the necklace.

Best Use Of A Ghost On Daytime: B&B with Stephanie’s portrait going crazy when Eric kissed another woman (Taylor?)

I have to agree about Franco and Carly being the worst. Jamey – ask any mother and they will tell you do what you want to me but don’t f*ck with my kids. All of the examples you gave about couples doing their worst to each other is not the same as screwing with someone’s kid. The fact is mothers have much longer memory regarding wrongs to their children than they do wrongs to themselves.

Carly has always been a mama bear. She still hasn’t forgiven Dante for what he did in court to Michael but forgives Franco in one month. Doesn’t make sense.

Therefore Franco takes the MP award. He must be driving Carly out of her mind for her to just overlook what he did to Michael.

Totally agree with all the Y&R commentary. The first of the year looked promising before Burton hijacked the screen and it’s gone downhill since(and the last 2-3 months have truly been a depressing chore to get through). The last week or so hasn’t been terrible–save for Dylan, Lane and Tyler/Abby–and at this point I’ll take “hasn’t been terrible” over the alternative that we’ve been stuck with for the majority of the year.

And I couldn’t agree with Jamey more in regards to DAYS–not only was it the best soap for the past twelve months but arguably one of the most consistently entertaining and well-written in the last five years or so. It may have lost Eileen Davidson–although Salem is still trying to put out Kristen’s fires all over this canvas–but they’ve still got PLENTY of divas who know how to do the damage, namely Alison Sweeney, Ari Zucker and Lauren Koslow(the MVP of the current Nick murder storyline and a woman who can out-diva ANYONE on daytime without saying a word). Jillian said it best–if you’re not watching, you really need to give the show a shot.
