Thank you TV Gord. I hope the tide turns eventually just like you say.

If a doctor drilling into my hip or tummy (I forgot which) yields that I could possibly be a bone marrow match for someone I would not mind at all. Just make sure I have the good meds during the procedure for pain and I would not give a shit.
I would love to do this but until the laws change and the ignorance goes away my gay blood and marrow stay in my body.
If it’s any consolation, they’re easing the restrictions in Canada, and blood banks around the world are watching. Maybe the rule changes are coming for you, too…someday. We’ve had same-sex marriage for more than a decade now. It takes a long time for change to happen, but it does happen.

I’ve been on the bone marrow registry for more than 30 years and it has always bothered me that friends who are just as monogamous as I am are barred from donating. How many of those people arbitrarily excluded would have saved a life. It’s depressing to think about it.

From what others have told me, it’s more discomfort than pain (like a muscle ache). I wish I could get pain-killers for teeth cleaning!!! :-D

I’ve never been a match for bone marrow, but I have donated white cells several times for patients having bone marrow transplants. It’s a great feeling that I hope you get to experience someday. < << I think I’ll have a few of those before my next teeth cleaning! ;-)
