Y&R and B&B Post Best Feb. Sweeps Ratings Since 2008!

Does this mean we can finally extract O.J. Simpson from all conversations about the once-presumed "death of soaps"? CBS Daytime sudsers, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful just posted their best February Sweeps ratings since 2008!

Y&R averaged 5.2 million viewers, while B&B was watched by 3.88 million. The rest of CBS Daytime also had a pretty stellar showing. The Talk and Let's Make a Deal both delivered their best-ever Feb. Sweeps numbers. Meanwhile, The Price is Right saw its largest audience since 2007. Don't sleep on The Tiffany Network, y'all!

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I love soaps and want them all to succeed and their ratings to rise. On the other hand, I absolutely either dislike or am bored with all the current stories on Y&R and I despise what JFP has done to my once favorite soap. I don’t really know what people are tuning in for that is causing the ratings to go through the roof. I watch most days shaking my head and waiting for the episode to be over so I can get to Days and GH. Even Jill and Colin whom I normally love were hard to take with their WWII recreation. I just don’t get it…but congrats to them anyway.

Honestly, I don’t get it. My daughter watches B&B daily and when I happen in the room its like the same story that was told 3 years ago only with different (or in the case of hope, liam, steffy repeat), the same actors. BORING BORING BORING

All Y&R needs is a little fine tuning and it will be just fine.

I find it to be in a good place right now. And of course the MM stans are all choking on their spit right now. And I’m loving it…

I know people must get tired of hearing how great the CBS lineup is doing, but what I don’t understand is why the other networks don’t try to copy them?

Both soaps are not in perfect shape (we still have Phelps), but as a combined entity, they fit together well and have different strengths.

It’s interesting to note that the last time YR was doing this well in the ratings was right after MAB and JG took back over from Latham.

Ratings went up the last time Y&R hired Tristan Rogers, and DOWN when he left (to some degree). The man brings viewers with him! Here’s hoping they have the good sense to keep him around longer this time.

I’m not surprised because CBS lineup has turned around on AMcD’s watch. I don’t always agree with her on some things but I have agreed on many aspects of how she handles her whole lineup.

I agree YR does need just a fine tuning and reverse the ugly music back to the original score it could be entertaining to watch again for me. I know I will never have the YR I grew up to love but I just want its soul to stay intact. One thing that has bother more than anything is the erosion of vets over the last few years. Damn, DOOL has more of its original vets compared to YR, this is sad.

Last week I enjoyed only two days but this week was different for me…Monday, Tuesday was watchable, Wednesday god awful, Thursday, Friday was excellent. I loved my Shick today and the scenes between PB & CW was electrifying to watch….boy if she stayed the chemistry was percolating and showed CW skills. :( Today was great. I’m enjoyed 4 days in one week and haven’t done this for over 2 weeks.

Well congrats, but I’m sure some of the recent CBS ratings boost is because viewers who were still watching the flagship Y&R on SOAPnet (up until January 1) have now returned to the network broadcast, with February being the first Sweeps period post-SOAPnet.

Why would they regret anything? CBS did the same thing that ABC did: they cancelled two low-rated soaps, and replaced them with non-scripted programming. And those two shows (Let’s Make a Deal and The Talk) just posted series highs, and are higher rated than the soaps (Guiding Light and As The World Turns) that they replaced. They made the business decision that was right for their network: there is simply not enough audience during daytime hours to have three soaps competing against each other.

LMAO. I thought everyone was going to stop watching once MM left? I bet his fans aren’t happy about this news lol. I’m glad Y&R is doing great because the show is getting better.

I believe they still show the same days soaps on a different channel 3x a day. Probably why they claim more are watching. I personally don’t believe their ratings have gone up that much…if anything gone down…unless they are using the same show 3x a day for reference.

Why does some people make statements about YR…only YR that the ratings are fixed or YR doesn’t get the ratings being reported? If this was such a easy task to do a “fix” in ratings why hasn’t ABC or NBC done the exact same thing to make their soaps look better? Hell, why doesn’t ABC just pull a number out of their ass to say GH beat YR as the top spot…because the fact remains it’s not true and YR got the increase in viewership as all soaps have done in the last year.

Next up the MM fans will be spinning about “how YR lost 500k of viewers and CBS isn’t reporting the numbers…as I’ve read on other sites…as Judge Judy would say “ridiculous”! CBS has always had a target on them because of their daytime lineup going back decades and it hasn’t changed the result, Tiffany Network still rules.

Harlee…I guess ABC was fixing the ratings back in the early 80’s when GH went to #1.

And then CBS figured out how to do it so that YR has now been #1 for over 25 years.

    Must be inside network secrets…

I remember a few years back when there was a difference of ratings between ABC & CBS. CBS reported that Y&R had a 4.2 rating and that GH had a 3.1 rating. ABC countered saying that Y&R had a 4.3 rating and that GH had a 3.0 rating. That just made me scratch my head. Does ABC (or each network for that matter) do their own ratings research? I always assumed that they all went by whatever Nielsen fed them.

Blah, blah, blah. Mike Muhney this, and Mike Muhney that. The fact of the matter is, is that Mike Muhney was a very good actor. The highlight of last week was Chelsea’s belief that Adam is still alive, and her talking about him fondly. Yes, the eff-ing highlight of the week.

Hey, its too bad that ‘something happened’ at Y&R, in that Muhney had to go. I suppose its great for Eric Braeden, that he can now be king big shi+ again. He must be, because he is on every day.

And the Dylan Crew continues their downward slide. What started out as two interesting people, Kelly and Stitch… has now turned into… they have a past, it’s always changing, and they are becoming trite and boring. Ian is not on enough, and Dylan is on too much, even eff-ing Avery like he did last week.

Victor is in Paris chasing down Chloe, Nicole is getting comfort from Dylan? I suppose so. Prop him up Melody, prop him up.

Best catch of the Year — turning out to be Hillary.

I liked what I saw yesterday. I think David Tom is doing well and I wish people would cut him a break. I do think though Billy and Victoria should now move onto other people but I am liking the little guy once again like I did when he was on the first time.

I like Harlee also know that the Y&R we knew under Bill Bell, Kay Alden, and Jack Smith is gone and not coming back. But I do think this show is on the upswing.
Soap Opera Digest named it Most Disappointing Show the last 2 years.
It’s on its way to Most Improved in my opinion.

I still think JFP and Jean should not be in charge but maybe they can prove me wrong.

If MM and BM leaving Y&R is not affecting ratings, then surely TR is NOT.

You’re right. The ratings are up because Muhney and Miller left. My bad. ;-P

I don’t have any idea why the ratings are up, but absolutely cannot understand why, when the show is so bad. New Billy stinks. Tyler and Abby together, disgusting. Anything with DilDo is just terrible. Devon and Hilary, should never happen. Maybe her and Neil, but not duller than dirt, Devon. Miss the good old Adam days and the XLNT music that has now gone by the wayside. Otherwise the show is fair.

I can’t with folks who call characters boring and in the same breath don’t want them to get any story to make them more exciting. It seems like they like it that way and that’s the way they want it to stay.

Neil has had failed pairing after failed pairing and run through a different woman every year. If Y&R wants to do something different that viewers won’t roll their eyes at, then they had better pair Hilary else where. Devon, Noah, and Billy are all better options than Neil IMO.

I completely agree with yojoromo, I really cannot take the new Billy. He over acts in so many scenes, he looks ridiculous with Victoria, he looks like a little kid, especially with his mouth, that seems to hang open all the time, funny, I notice those things, and not to mention there is “ZERO~ZERO” chemistry with Vic. I could “feel” the chemistry with BM, always wanted them to be together, but now I hope she dumps him, go sleep with Dixie, another old “soapy” they want to bring onto Y&R, big mistake! I’m wondering if they brought him back because his sister is on another soap, really should recast!
Dylan has completely ruined Avery, she was hotter when she was with Nick.
Lilly and Cane, I think we get the fact that they love each other and like to have sex, please, enough of the kissy kissy! I do like Hillary, maybe she can wake up Devon, and I think I’m liking Victor right now, he hates Dylan, wish he cold have gotten rid of him, he hates the annoying Sharon, and Nick, well Nick is just too cute to be so dumb! I hope Victor finds Adam,it will drive Billy crazy and make him tell the truth about how he treated Adam in the car and caused him to go off the road, Adam wasn’t the bad guy that night.

New Billy does not stink but he should not have been changed at the point he was; it was too disrupting.

The word “disgusting” is used here far too much and usually overstates a point. However … what is disgusting is pretty much most of everything about Victor and the fellow who portrays him and who possibly has too much control. Victor has no reason to be so hateful toward Dylan … he did nothing to the family; it was Avery who broke up that precious relationship. And what Victor has done and continues to do to the mentally ill (but not annoying) Sharon truly is criminal. That Victor always wins and is never punished is becoming increasingly suspicious. But I do still have the feeling that Victor does know exactly where Adam is right now.

Dildo is another nickname that has gotten boringly old hat.

Neil will never be happy because he is simply just plain weird.

Much could be quite enjoyable right now but I wish less attention were given to the already mentioned boring couplings. More time needs to be given to the veterans who still seem to have the more interesting possibilities.
