Can The Newmans Forgive Victor’s Latest Stunt on The Young and the Restless? (SNEAK PEEK)

Once again, the Newmans are outraged by the antics of their aging patriarch. Monday on CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless, Nick (Joshua Morrow) tells his mother about Victor (Eric Braeden) enlisting a Cassie (Camryn Grimes) lookalike to gaslight Sharon (Sharon Case). Will the stripper-turned-socialite bail on her latest marriage to Mr. Mumbles?

Over at the coffeehouse, Avery (Jessica Collins) is threatening to file a restraining order against Ian Ward (Ray Wise), while Dylan (Steve Burton) wipes up spilled mochacchino from the counter top. Watch Monday's sneak peek of Y&R after the jump!

It’s funny how people bitch about Victor or any storyline when they call it “repetitive”.

It’s a soap people. It going to be repetitive after 40-50 years.

I’m loving the return of THIS Victor. His character was smartly watered down and somewhat back burnered when Josh G started writing. But this is the Victor that most people have loved to hate over the years.

I myself hope he’s around for a long time.

Now, yes, his family forgives him eventually, but again that’s the soap cycle. How are you going to get future story if you don’t go there?

    I’ll be watching.

Now that Avery cooking storyline is another story.

I agree!! What happens when Victor is proven right all along that Sharon was hiding something? I cant stand how they are trying to make Sharon a heroine when she has this secret. Just spill the beans and be done with it.

Exactly. And I’d also rather have vet characters I love occasionally repeat a storyline every couple of years (with a different twist of course) than have a show full of new characters I couldn’t give a flying f&ck about.

I just know today was great. Horses on the rach grazing. Been a long time since we have seen that. Victor telling Nikki Nick always comes back was dynamite.

NOW THEN, Anything to do with Cupcake and Dylan is an absolute snoozefest. I am really sorry they had to ruin her, just to give Dyldumb more air time. How sad.
In my opinion he does absolutely nothing for this once great show.

Yeah, I’m not the biggest Victor fan–he’s always been a little cold-hearted but it was taken to the nth degree under MAB–and I think this particular stunt ranks right up there with his worst(although, again, everything he told Nicholas about Sharon ruining his life was admittedly spot-on). BUT, all will be forgiven once everyone is clued in to what Sharon did and once again Sharon will be will hated by the almighty Newmans. And once that comes to light, these writers need to move Sharon in a redemptive direction, free of company takeovers, marrying father-in-laws, burning down houses and falsifying paternity results; the continued destruction of this character has been beyond ridiculous for about the last 3-4 years now(not that SC hasn’t sold it every minute she’s been onscreen). Stop the madness already.

Yes, the Victor story-lines do become repetitive at times but I rather watch him then Miss Cupcake and Dylan. They are so boring, I have to leave the room whenever they are on. They have O chemistry and I am not interested in a cooking show. I’d rather watch Eric B. as Victor, he’s tough and arrogant, and although it is sometimes the same type of story over and over again, I always find him interesting to watch. He’s one of the vets of the show and his character should connect most story-lines. And, he is right about Sharon hiding something!

I am likin at how Ian seems to be pulling a lot of strings in the whole matter. Ha ha Victor, you may just yet get what you deserve from someone like Ian Ward. Too good. Victor is finally falling into someone else’s trap.

Wouldnt it be great if he lost Newman Enterprises again, because of Bonaventure, too?

I don’t want EB\VN anywhere but in GC on my TV screen and me yelling at him but at the same time loving/hating the character. That’s good acting coming from EB

Sharon was tried to be destroyed by the writers past\present but now they’ve grounded the character again finding our “real” Sharon and the kindling of what makes Shick an aah inspiring premiere couple for YR. I’m loving my Shick front & center but making fauxCassie Mariah sucks donkey dicks! |(

I do think this will be a longer stretch for Nicholas and his father being on the outs…if played right it could last a few years. Loved my Nikki yesterday and comparing Victor to the town rapist Ian…Purrectly done!

GC and the cooking career capital in soapdom…irritates me to no end all these wonderful, multiplied layer characters in the past are stuck in food service…UGH! :tired:

As a long time Y&R viewer, I am team Victor! I wonder which fans in reality would support Sharon if she burned down their houses and destroyed their businesses, etc. I don’t buy the bipolar story, which seems forced. Sharon has deliberately done vicious things to people for a long time. I don’t get why the writers keep trying to turn her into a saint.

What bothers me the most is that writers make Victor the only person who is smart enough to figure things out and not be victimized! I am tired of watching our main, beloved characters never be smart enough to see through these characters who want to harm them. So many of the main characters are intelligent, educated, savvy in business, cultured, etc. and yet are always written as being clueless? I know a soap opera is entertainment, but it is not entertaining to watch favorite characters always be victims! Now I read where Ian is going to cause problems for most of Genoa City citizens! Why? GC has become a depressing place. I don’t think that these new writers even look at the history of the characters to see how they would behave. To me, the writers must have miserable lives because they want to make all of us miserable! I am done! :(

Victor and Nikki brought it yesterday. I wish in the storyline once Sharon’s secret is reveled that Sharon continues to get the help she needs and the Newman’s, Victor included especially, just stop fighting with Sharon. Have a cease fire or something. I think enough is enough with Sharon and the Newmans.

    I agree.

The past regimes have “used” Sharon as a wedge and foil for the Newmans. It’s time to end that and redeem her 100% and move on.

    She’s a heroine, not a villain.

But Victor did not hire Mariah to get the secret out of Sharon. He only found out about the secret when he first decided to stop gaslighting Sharon (and then resumed it to uncover the secret). For him to use that as his excuse is pretty weak. And regardless of whether there is a secret, using the memory of your dead granddaughter in that manner is still pretty abhorrent. I’m not convinced that all will necessarily be forgiven once the truth comes out.

True, but Sharon had more than plenty of time to spill the beans. She’s been lying to Nick, Jack, Summer for months. Phyllis is in a coma because of her.

Sharon getting beaten up by the Newman’s, a Daytime staple for years. That why we love her, the scrappy kid from the neighborhood (us) against the rich and the powerful (Victor’s entire family).

Double-liked Victoria telling her Mother today she would go right back to the trough, for another heapin helping of The $hit of Victor after she forgives him for his latest mis-deeds.

Im glad the made Cassie lookalike Mariah.. She has more fire than Abby period now if they can get Tyler to do something else besides stand their and look good.. Put some hate anger or something in your face and actions.. Do something with Avery you have taken a beautiful strong lawyer woman and made her Betty Crocker. You have a slew of lawyers on the show give them some court time on a good trial..

With the latest news concerning Michelle Stafford, I’d like to see Phyllis just slip away. That would save Sharon and have Victor with his nose pressed against a solid wall; preferably in a jail or padded cell somewhere for all he’s done to harm her. Seeing Sharon safely ensconced permanently with Nick would surely drive the “protector of the family” finally over the edge.

I’m not convinced myself how good of an idea a Phyllis return is now with Stafford.

I don’t put a lot of faith in recasts under Phelps.

She once again messed up by not getting Watros on contract (don’t know if that WAS an option). It seems to me she thinks she can have a lot of big names (and fan favs for that matter) linger as non contract players. Is she trying them out? Ditto with Wise and Grimes. She also lost Emme. Eileen is now unavailable. All these characters continue to get MOSTLY positive response from people on here and Twitter. Put these people on contract.

I’m nervous about both Adam and Phyllis coming back. They will be tough recasts to swallow.

  22. Avatar of ChrisGa

^^^Yeah, she seems to have somewhat poor instincts with regards to her people decisions. It’s mindboggling that she basically refused to put Emme Rylan back on contract but after a few months Melissa Ordway gets one. Then she lets Cynthia Watros escape–and the minute Watros was undoubtedly brought in to read for Kelly these people should’ve known she would’ve made an ideal Phyllis–and we’re stuck with yet another miscast actor in Cady McClain. And I shudder to think who she’ll recast both Phyllis and Adam with now; it’ll no doubt be one of her “friends” but which ones is the question.

That said, if Grimes isn’t on contract before summer then I’ll officially have given up on JFP’s (lack of)decision-making skills.

  23. Avatar of pferrando

    ^^^

Exactly. Grimes IS future potential story. She SHOULD’VE been on contract as soon as they decided they were going to use her as a look alike.

I’m more confident about Adam’s recast unless it’s yet another unemployed friend from GH…but for some reason the character of Phyllis is SOOOOO defined by Stafford, that one will be tough.

Adam can be written or remolded I think by the right actor.

You said it, pf. You cant have Adam dead, and Victor not on. Who is going to play The Dark Knight? Jack just doesnt have it in him any more.

I was wishing that Ian, Ian, or maybe even Cane go become the villain of The Show; and maybe they are going that way with Ian.

I wish we cold cut through all of this clutter, and get on with the Bonaventure story-line. It could a great s/l that involves Newman Enterprises, but instead, we have to sit through… who is the father of Vicky’s baby?

  25. Avatar of pferrando

    Hey mon…

    “Clutter” is the perfect word.

I think the newest writing actually has shown that they can take the veteran characters and give us good soap.

I guess, like GH, the overall cast is so large that they have stories that just sit, like Bonaventure, for weeks almost with no mention.

I would have delayed the Avery stalker story since Dylan is unfortunately involved with Nikki/Ian and have her as a supporting character until Phyllis comes back on screen.

Abby/Tyler/Mariah should have waited until a bigger chunk of the paternity story is revealed.

    Those are just two examples.

They can show they are good at integrating the characters, but are doing too much at once.

Mets…I like this Victor too. I hated what MAB did to both Victor and Nikki. The vile things they said to each other would never have happened.

But he’s still meddling. And more interesting when he’s “ruthless” with others, but not at the expense of his relationship with Nikki.
