I’m not one of those Game of Thrones fans who is jumping on the ‘oh how dare they change the Jamie/Cersei consensual sex scene in the book to an actual rape because it ruins what has become a better and nicer character’ bandwagon. Whatever! Rape or no rape, and regardless of whatever touching scenes Jamie’s had with Brienne and his brother Tyrion, or no matter how many bears he save Brienne from, Jamie will always be a evil piece of Lannister crap until he fully atones for what he did in the very first episode. He will always be the man who pushed little Bran Stark out of a tower window because he had the audacity to catch him and his sister screwing, doggie style at that. If they had kept it the way it was in the book and the INCESTUOUS sex was consensual, I would still think of Jamie as an evil piece of crap. I also know several other fans of both the books and the show that have no problem with this change for the reasons I stated. All fans do not think alike on this. I do agree Jenna that the rape is too much. Yes, as you stated, it is part of the time, setting, and culture of this type of story but they could definitely cut it back on the show. That scene at Craster’s Keep with all the raping and evidence of rape going on, was one of my least favorites moment from the show. It really made me uncomfortable and they really need to pull it back. Oh Jamie, it’s not like there’s incestuous sex in every episode of Game of Thrones. Cross over my child. All are welcome. All welcome. Go into the Light. There is peace and serenity in the GoT Light. Even though I’ve come to believe that broadcast TV need to back away from the 20-24 episode September to May broadcast mode and adapt the 10-13 episode cable mode, just for the sake of better and less padded storytelling, I continue to stand in awe of The Good Wife because it’s one of the few shows on broadcast TV where I can’t recall not one bad episode. Seriously! I can’t get enough of Alicia and company. Truly one of the best shows on TV now, for exactly the reasons you all have stated in this and other episodes.
