Starz is giving rapper/actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's foray into television executive producing their full support. The cable network announced on Tuesday they have ordered a second season of Power.
The soapy drama about an ambitious drug dealer trying to go legit, benefited from a multi-platform roll out last weekend. Approximately 462,000 watched live plus same day last Friday night. Almost 1.3 million tuned in for the serial's three Saturday showings. Another 2.022 million checked out subsequent weekend runs of Power.
Created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (Beauty and The Beast, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0), Power stars Omari Hardwick as Ghost the owner of New York City's hottest nightclub, who also happens to be the head of the most notorious drug cartel in the city.
Former girl group singer Naturi Naughton stars as Ghost's money hungry wife Tasha. Lela Loren appears as Angela Valdes, an old flame of Ghost's, who is now an attorney charged with taking down the cartel. All My Children legend Debbi Morgan recurs as Estelle, Ghost's opinionated mother-in-law.
