Ellen DeGeneres Tops OUT’s 8th Annual Power 50



Talk show queen, comedian and Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres was named the No. 1 most powerful LBGT by OUT. However, she wasn't the only individual familiar to TV fans. TV host and Oprah pal Suze Orman, Glee's Jane Lynch, CNN's Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon, Good Morning America's Robin Roberts, Bravo kingpin Andy Cohen, How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris, Ryan Murphy, Rachel Maddow and Ru Paul also made the list.

Anthony Weiner to Guest on Mark Consuelos Starrer Alpha House


Alpha House—the Amazon comedy starring Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children), John Goodman,  Matt Malloy, Clark Johnson and featuring former General Hospital favorite Ted King—is getting a dose of real-world politics. According to Politico, former New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner will appear in the season finale as himself. 
 

Is Ann Curry Exploring Post NBC Options?



What will former Today host Ann Curry do when her contract with NBC News ends? That is the topic of a report by The Hollywood Reporter, which lays out Curry's options. Reportedly, her representation has let CBS News and other NBC competitors she is interested in talking. Curry's NBC contract window opens up on 2014.

Yhe article mentions there has been no contact with her former Today producer Jeff Zucker, who now helms CNN, or discussions with Al Jazeera America. The story suggests Curry may want to follow Soledad O'Brien's lead.
"The model for her is the Soledad O'Brien one," says Tyndall, referring to the erstwhile CNN anchor who has output deals with HBO and AJAM. "She sets up her own production company, does one-off documentaries and then sells them to Al Jazeera or HBO or Netflix or whomever.

CNN’s Jake Tapper Turns Thespian For All My Children (SPOILER PHOTOS)


There are no small parts, only big-time CNN anchors who occasionally like to lather up in some suds! CNN's Jake Tapper will make his acting debut Monday, Aug. 12 during an installment of TOLN's All My Children.

The newshound will play, you guessed it, a reporter seeking dirt from Brooke English (Julia Barr) and Dixie Cooney Martin (Cady McClain) on why Junior Chandler (Ryan Bittle) is showing his behind at Chandler Enterprises. Check out more spoiler pics from the eppy after the jump!

Has Nancy Grace Been Banned From Good Morning America?



Legal theatrics are Nancy Grace’s specialty and it looks like Jeff Zucker wants to keep that expertise in the family. According to the New York Post, Zucker banned all CNN and HLN personalities from popping up on Good Morning America.

Reportedly this impacts Grace, one of CNN and HLN's biggest stars, who has sparred with GMA’s legal analyst Dan Abrams in the past.  In a statement to the NYP, CNN clarified:
A CNN rep said, “While it is true that Nancy no longer appears on ‘GMA,’ it has nothing to do with banning [particular] clients. Like every other cable network and broadcast outlet with a morning show, we ask that CNN/HLN talent not appear on other network’s morning shows, unless they are promoting a book or a personal project.”



Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan Set For CNN’s New Morning Show

 


Ex-Good Morning America news anchor and 20/20 co-host Chris Cuomo won't be able to hit the snooze button for much longer. Cuomo has been tapped to co-host CNN's new morning show with Kate BolduanMichaela Pereira, late of KTLA Morning News, will serve as news anchor for the program.

"I've been looking forward to this announcement since I first joined CNN," said President of CNN Worldwide Jeff Zucker in a press release. “Chris, Kate and Michaela are a dynamic team that will give our viewers in America a new way to start their day. We were floored with excitement when we saw Chris and Kate together on screen, and by adding Michaela to the mix we feel we have something very special. We believe there is an opening to do news in the morning with a fresh, new voice."

Could Elisabeth Hasselbeck Land at CNN?


Is CNN's Jeff Zucker interested in snapping up The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck? According to Page Six, the cable suit wants the talking head to join the CNN family.
We hear CNN honcho Jeff Zucker is interested in seeing her join his cable channel. A source told us, “They’re definitely interested.”
