So we all know the story of a modern soap opera fan right? For those of you who don't, here are the bullet points.

The soap opera genre is dying. It's doomed. The sky is falling, blah, blah, blah, blah. But in this day and age of the internet and cable television, is there any reason for this industry to die? Shouldn't this be the time for the industry to innovate and for this genre to kick into overdrive?

British Soap Awards Interviews



This past Saturday the British Soap Awards were filmed. What's On TV was on the scene and interviewed all the major stars. Above we see an interview with EastEnders stars Rita Simons (Roxy) and Scott Maslen (Jack) as they discuss the current state of EastEnders and touch on Daniellegate. Home And Away Controversy


Home And Away has recently sparked a bit of controversy down under. After 21 years, the soap is telling its first lesbian storyline between Charlie Buckton (Esther Anderson) and Joey Collins (Kate Bell). The reaction to this storyline is very reminiscent of As The World Turns' Nuke and their first kiss. Before this kiss aired, family groups were up in arms calling for Seven to cut the scene. Seven held steady however, and kept the scene intact. They will continue to allow the storyline to play out.
