Could Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Take Over Today’s Sunday Show?

MSNBC's Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski may be bringing their brand to NBC's Sunday edition of Weekend Today, according to the New York Post.

“They made a big play for ‘Sunday Today’ and ‘Meet The Press,’ but Turness is not inclined to dump [‘MTP’ host] David Gregory,” one source noted.

Giving them “Sunday Today” could be seen as a compromise — or an interim step, the source added.

Willie Geist on Today Gig: “I Feel Complete Opportunity”

Morning Joe regular Willie Geist is excited about joining Today's 8 am EST hour this Nov. 12. Here's what he told Broadcast & Cable:
"I feel the opposite, I feel complete opportunity," he said in a phone interview. "When I go over there, which is a lot, to the Today show, and spend time with the producers and Matt and Savannah and Al and Natalie, there's no head-hanging. No ‘oh no, we lost our lead.' It's let's fight, let's get it back. That's part of what attracted me to it. I think everybody understands this is a moment of opportunity maybe a moment of a little evolution. I don't look at it at all as walking into the number two show, I look at it as walking into the iconic number one show that will again be the number one show."

Charlie Rose and Gayle King to Join The Early Show

CBS has tried pretty much everything to make The Early Show competitive with NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America, with little luck. Now it’s changing things up once again. According to the New York Times, Charlie Rose and Gayle King are joining The Early Show, which will focus on hard news. Reportedly, the show’s new format will take a page from MSNBC’s Morning Joe and ABC’s The View and be more conversational.
The plan calls for Mr. Rose, who has contributed in the past to the network’s most popular program, “60 Minutes,” to help lead the 7 a.m. hour with Ms. Hill, who joined CBS from CNN in early 2010.
