Neighbours To Air Lesbian Storyline

The Australian soap opera Neighbours is set to air it's second lesbian storyline, just mere weeks after Home and Away began airing it's first lesbian storyline. The scenes which are due to air later this month see Donna (Margot Robbie) and new Ramsay Street resident Sunny (Hany Lee Choi) lock lips in what producers are calling an "impulsive kiss" after a love letter scandal is exposed.

This is the soap's second attempt at a lesbian storyline. It's first attempt was in 2004 between schoolgirls Lana Crawford (Bridget Neval) and Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh).

This storyline is sure to cause plenty of controversy Down Under, as the soap airs in a 6:30 p.m. family friendly timeslot. It will be interesting to see what the reactions will be. Stay tuned to Daytime Confidential as this story develops.

Neighbours Ratings

Congratulations is in order for the Australian soap Neighbours. For the first time since July, 2007, the Channel Ten soap broke the one million viewer mark on Monday with 1,011,000 people tuning in, making it the 16th most watch show that night.

While that may not seem like a lot of viewers in comparison to the U.S. soaps, this is really good for Neighbours and it goes to show that if you put money into your product and the product is actually good, people will watch.

In contrast, Home and Away pulled in 1,195,000 viewers and came in 10th place for the night.
