Barbara Walters Spoofs Her Legacy on SNL (VIDEO)


Barbara Walters has a sense of humor about all of those merciless Saturday Night Live sketches over the decades. The veteran journalist, who will retire from The View on May 16, made an appearance on SNL's "Weekend Update" segment this past weekend.

Wendy Moniz and Trevor St. John to Appear With SNL’s Rachel Dratch in ‘Grief’ Drama


Guiding Light alum Wendy Moniz and One Life to Live’s Trevor St. John have signed on to star opposite Saturday Night Live’s Rachel Dratch in the flick The Grief of Others, according to Variety. The film is based on the Leah Hager Cohen novel of the same name, and will focus on a couple whose baby dies 57 hours after birth. The pair try to return to their lives, but have a hard time keeing things together.
 

Trailer Revealed For IFC Soap The Spoils of Babylon (VIDEO)


People like soaps.  People also like to make fun of soaps.  IFC wants to give the people what they like with The Spoils of Babylon, a six-part miniseries produced by Funny or Die. 
 
Referencing the epic sagas of Dynasty, Dallas, and The Thorn Birds, The Spoils of Babylon will follow the exploits of the powerful Morehouse family. 
 
Jonas Morehouse (Tim Robbins) is a wealthy oil magnate, whose daughter Cynthia (Kristen Wiig) is in love with her adopted brother Devon (Tobey Maguire).  Adding to the drama is Cynthia’s calculating son Winston (Haley Joel Osment), who’s out for his own gain.  After a falling out, Devon begins an affair with a scientist named Dixie (Jessica Alba), adding to Cynthia’s woes.

SNL Reveals What a Soap Opera on The Weather Channel Would Look Like


You can tell soaps are in vogue again, simply by witnessing how often they're being spoofed by comedians. This past weekend, Saturday Night Live did a sketch featuring host Vince Vaughan starring in the Weather Channel's premiere sudser, Stormy Skies. SNL’s Seth Meyers Denies Rumors He’s Permanently Replacing Regis on ‘Live’


Saturday Night Live head funny bone tickler Seth Meyers is saying not so fast to rumors he'll be permanently sliding in to Regis Philbin's old seat on Live With Kelly. Meyers, who has been co-hosting with Kelly Ripa all this week, addressed the scuttlebutt about him becoming a full-time fixture on the syndicated chatfest with the Sun-Sentinel. Here's an excerpt:

“No, no, no, no, no,” Meyers said by phone from New York on Monday afternoon. “I know [Reege’s replacement] is a very important thing down there. But, right now, what I would say to you: I’m really in love with the job I have. I’m very excited to be going back [to “SNL”] for the election season, which is always fun.”
